Stayed only one night on my way north last week but REALLY liked the place and the people. The room was lovely and seemed very clean, I slept very well indeed. Breakfast had to be ordered the night before but was very good too. Recommended!!
As a young, female, solo traveller I did not feel safe during a weekend trip at Hotel Eden! 2 female friends came up to my room after a dinner outing quickly and the front desk literally yelled at them demanding their passport then kicked them out of the hotel saying they had to wait for me outside? I tried to explain they weren’t at all staying with me and said I didn’t appreciate the way they were treating me as a guest and the employee said “I am not here to please you.” I was disgusted by the 2 male staff working that night and felt unsafe leaving my belongings in my room because of how aggressive they were saying I was sneaking guests in. Unbelievable. The only positive I had with this hotel was the air conditioning and shower were nice. I would never return to this hotel unfortunately because of unprofessionalism and tiny room for paying $120/night. Plenty of hotels in close proximity that I will stay at next time.…
This was quite possibly the worst hotel stay I've had. When we arrived and got into bed, the sheets were full of sand and male body hair (we were two women sharing a room with two twin beds). I immediately went to the front desk and insisted on checking himself. He came up to my room (we were two young women and it was 2am) and felt around the bed. He confirmed that the sheets were filthy and said "it''s fine!" and refused to give us new sheets and said he''d have the maid change them the next day. We were forced to sleep on top of the bedding. The next day, the sheets were still not changed. We went to the front desk again and the same man screamed at us that there was nothing he could do. We finally got him to give us some clean sheets so we could change the beds ourselves, and told me I'd have to speak to the manager in the morning. The next morning, I tried to raise the issue with the person working at the front desk who refused to call the manager. First, he told me I likely brought a man back to my room and didn't remember it when I showed him photos of male leg hair in my bed (I am engaged to be married, and was in the area for an opera festival -- not exactly out partying!). He then brought the maid to the room who was shaking the sheets and screaming at us in Italian that we were liars -- of course, we had changed our own sheets the previous night so of course it looked different! Finally, I requested the manager remove one night from our bill at which point he told me he was going to call the police and have me thrown out of Italy. I travel often for work and stay in hotels all over the world and have never experienced anything remotely like this. This was also the most expensive of the hotels that I stayed in in Italy. I was harassed, screamed at, and made to feel unsafe. One of the men in our travel group, who is African, also received very unpleasant treatment at the hotel and was accused of not being a guest there. The two European looking men in our group had a fine stay, so I believe the staff at this hotel may be sexist and racist. If you want a clean hotel, there are better and cheaper options.…
Amenities we do not know if any; rooms nice/perfect. Service very diligent and cooperative, giving us what to visit/where to go.!Just across the Hotel you have nice beaches to choose, and all kind of different categories Restaurant, if you like Italian cousine, you can not go wrong...all we tried (some recommended by the Hotel)very nice...like fish, ask the local one...great!
Stayed 3 nights in this hotel in October. I really only used it as a base while I toured Tuscany. The room was a bit small but I found it clean and comfortable and nicely decorated and a small balcony to sit out on. Breakfast offered a good selection including bacon and eggs as well as the usual continental fare. I didnt really meet many members of staff but the ones I did were courteous. Because of the time of year, the hotel wasnt very busy but Im sure it would be a popular choice during high season and the town of Viareggio is very nice. The hotel is situated on the seafront with lots of shops and cafes and restaurants close by. Its about 10 - 15 minutes walk to the railway station.
We stayed at the Hotel Eden, Viareggio, Tuscany for six days. This hotel overlooks the sea, in this absolutely fabulous resort, lovely restaurants in the immediate area, boutiques and shops. Lovely sandy beach. Just a few minutes walk to the station where you can get very cheap train rides to Pisa, Florence, Lucca, Sestri Levante, Portofino etc. The buffet breakfast was excellent. Very chic and upmarket area Could not find any faults. Would highly recommend as a base to explore Tuscany.
checking was quick I had sent banners to put up in the room for daughter 40th birthday they also gave her a bottle of prosecco and a lovely bowl of fresh fruit that was a nice surprise, room was a bit small for 3 adults the next day I queried this and they gave us a bigger room which was much better, breakfast was ample would I stay here again oh yes handy for the beach and trains, only downside was that there was no safe in room.
Stayed in July 2018 in a big group for 3 days as an add on after a family wedding in Barga. Location is great, sea view room with balcony are best. Although I was in a family room without balcony and can’t conplain about the room size. The beds were comfortable, the shower was a traditional curtain only so be careful not to splash as no cubicle in all rooms Quite old and dated, but didn’t spoil my stay there. Breakfast was very good, cakes, hot drinks, egg, bacon, croissants. Something for everyone although watch out for the eggs, they weren’t already boiled, you have to immerse them in boiling water which my knephew didn’t know (nor did I) and ended up smashing it on the table and his lap! For tea drinkers the milk is placed with the main breakfast area a bit awkward as you can’t make your drink in one location. I did suggest this to the buffet patroller (Shortish guy, bald, older and not very friendly) as I need up trying the frothy milk from the machine which yes spilt slightly (though I wiped up). He wasn’t happy about my suggestion to have some milk nearby the hot drinks...hey ho. Waitress later confirmed he is the boss man! Not sure if that’s just an English moan on my part, Across the hotel there is the beach front with plenty of sun beds available just book them through the beach shacks at a cost and they are yours for the day. There are plenty of spades and buckets you can borrow so don’t pack yours for your children and occupy room if this is your only beach stop. There is a popular pizza place opposite which people were queueing up for, you buy slices, they weigh them and you eat and enjoy. Try the anchovies one, delish! We wanted to confirm our taxi on the last day, the reception staff was going to go it when he had time as he had a lot of work to do..beware ha! All in all, enjoyed the hotel, location and breakfast, negatives are the staff aren’t always the best of the bunch, nor always willing but enough to keep you going.…
Went there with my family with two Kids aged 7 and 5. Here you pay for the location. Room were clean, but small. Very old interior. Plus for balcony with seaview. Ok breakfast with little healthy options, and dry crossiants. Obs - difficult to Get parking close to the hotel on busy days. Lots of life just outside the hotel, both days and nights. Great view from the roof terrasse.
hi, just come back from Viareggo Italy, if you like dogs this is for you, they are in hotel, restaurants, the waiters feed them, stroke them, then don't wash their hands, when l complained of this the manager said they are cleaner than man, l am a Brit but born in Italy with a Italian mother, but l wont be going back, goodbye Italy.
