Excellent location in the main promenade and shopping street. Lots of cafes nearby, including the legendary Gran Caffe Margherita, and private beaches (the hotel provides a discount to the partner beach “Italia” which is only 100 m away, quite nice and has free wi-fi). Walking distance to the bus station, the train station, art galleries, the pier and the marina to enjoy sunsets. Tastefully decorated public interiors, pleasant sunbathing terraces, a lovely breakfast area - both indoor and outdoor. Good breakfasts with vast choice of fresh fruit and cakes. A rather spacious room with air conditioning, a clean bathroom with all amenities. Fast wi-fi. The staff is very friendly and helpful especially Matteo. A disappointing thing was that booking a room 5 months in advance, I asked for a sea view but didn’t get it, maybe because only doubles (not twins) face the sea? The view to the mountains from our window could be nice if there were no large staircase in front of it leading to the terraces. The air con blows onto the beds, too cold to sleep the whole night, no remote control to it.…
Very close to the place where Percy B. Shelley's body was washed ashore (now the square where his monument is found), it is also very close to the beach and great restaurants. Its turn-of-the-century look is sure to enchant.
A 1 night stay, so didn't spend much time in the hotel. Room a good size with a small balcony overlooking the courtyard at the back and bathroom was spacious. Decor was slightly dated, but clean and the bed was comfortable. Tea and coffee making facilities and mini bar which we didn't use. Breakfast was plentiful and they provided some gluten free products for me. They offered a parking pass for 5 euros, so my boyfriend dropped me off at the hotel and I went in and got the permit, which we then put into the car. We were lucky enough to find a space outside the hotel. It was valid for 24 hours, which was plenty for us. All staff were friendly. I would stay at the hotel again. Although the rooms at the front of the hotel probably had a nicer view, I suspect it may have been noisy.…
Hotel was very nice with ample breakfast on offer. The room was clean and well equipped. One downside was the noisy and pretty ineffective aircon. All of the staff were lovely and always keen to help, as English isn't widely spoken they do like to practice and certainly helped us use our basic Italian! I would definitely recommend this hotel based on service, location and price. I booked on Booking.com added the wrong City Tax, this is 2EU per day.
Selected this hotel in Viareggio, so that we had a short drive to Pisa Airport for our return to London. Rooms simple but clean with all necessities available. Staff were what made this hotel outstanding. Without exception they were friendly and charming. There was also an excellent buffet breakfast included in the room price, something not that common in Italy. Recommended.
Lovely charming Italian hotel near main promenade & lots of restaurants/shops. Great view & good value. Could walk from train station about 10/15 mins or taxi is around €10. Can Hire a bike very good to get around & see more, you get it from park which is about 5/10 mins from hotel.
Wow! The staff were very helpful and nice and the location of the hotel was perfect. Nearby everything, beach, shops and restaurants. The breakfast was really good. I would like that the bed should been softer but still I look forward to do another stay at this hotel.
Viareggio is an Italian seaside town and if you want to be close to the beach you won't find a hotel in a better location because the beach is just across the road/promenade. Also the hotel is about 5/10 minutes walk along the promenade from the harbour and about 15 minutes walk from the train station. It is really easy to catch a train to Pisa & Lucca (about 20 minutes away) and Florence (about 1.5 hours away). I recommend buying train tickets the day before you want to travel so you don't have to queue for tickets when the train is just arriving! The hotel is very clean, and the breakfasts good. Breakfast can be eaten either inside or, if the weather is good, at one of the outside courtyard tables. There are a few books you can borrow to read and we liked reading on the first floor 'patio' area which is very quiet. The small bar area is comfortable, light and pleasant and the staff are very friendly and helpful. One of the best bits about Viareggio is the promenade which seems to go on forever, with lots of good restaurants and a number of 'designer type' shops. The only minor thing we didn't like in the hotel was the taste of the 'ready made' coffee at breakfast but this was easily solved by asking for a cappuccino, which is made fresh if you ask for it. If you want to go onto the beach you will need to be aware that the separated beaches are all 'private' so you have to pay a small sum to use couple of chairs and a beach umbrella. The hotel can help with discount at one of them but there are some other quite upmarket beaches which offer a swimming pool and other facilities if you don't want to swim in the sea. One final tip, be aware if you ordering fish/lobster in the local restaurants that the fish come complete with head, tail and bones and the lobster will still be in its shell so you will need to use the loads of 'implements' to get at the meat - we watched one lady using 'pliers' to break the shell and skewers to drag out the meat which took ages and I don't think the amount of meat was worth the effort.…
Excellent location, to the beach 50 meters, near shops, cafes, bars, bus station, to the railway station 10-15 minutes walk. A good partner beach with an excellent restaurant. Polite staff, always ready to help. Breakfast varied. The rooms are clean and quiet, everything works. From my room I had a great view of the sea. With pleasure again stay in this hotel
We definitely recommend it..! Excellent room (a simple one on the ground floor), amazing breakfast, best location, memorable service. We spent a night without a booking before and we got a high quality service no matters if we got a special offer for lower price! All the crew was ready to help us at any time with a smile on their face!
