Nice 3* hotel in great location on a side road just off the promenade. Parking right outside at 8 Euros for 24 hours. Room was adequate size with fridge (great for water & wine!) Good WiFi and quiet aircon.
10 of us, including 4 kids just spent a fantastic week at Hotel Playa. Family rooms 207 & 208 were perfect for 2 adults and 2 kids, rooms were spotless and lots of clean towels. Location is ideal for the beach, shops, restaurants etc. Parking is available on the street right at the door of the hotel, reception issue you a ticket for the duration of your stay, it costs €8 for 24hrs. The staff are great, lots of coffee and hot chocolate for breakfast!😀 I’d thoroughly recommend Hotel Playa for a stay in Viareggio!
We stayed here for a week in mid September and we were so pleased we did. The location is perfect - just a few yards from the Passeggiata, and the room which had a partial sea view was modern and very comfortable. The staff were absolutely superb, from our lovely maid who cleaned the room every day, to the polite and helpful young lady who served breakfast. A special mention though to Andrea who helped us so much with getting a parcel sent back to the UK via UPS! The parcel arrived safe and sound because of his help. Overall this hotel is a little diamond in Viareggio and I would highly recommend staying here to anybody.
-food is terrible. either no flavour or dry bread, or expired butter -server was very rude -room was very small for 2 people -shower was the tiniest ever -server said i had no manners because i had my phone IN MY LAP when others were texting while eating!! overall terrible experience.
Playa is a family hotel, newly renovated and with very helpful and friendly staff. Our room had a nice balcony with sun in the afternoon and with a view of the luxury small shops along the street closest to the see and the playa. For a deasent amount of money the hotel offered admittance to the beach with sun loungers included. We enjoyed our stay at the hotel and recommend it to you who likes to stay at smaller and more familiar hotels. Definitly worth the prize we payed for our stay.
My friend and I stayed Hotel Playa for two days and found it to be charming. It's a small hotel off the Main Street through this beach cute town. It's a quick walk to the beach, the shops and restaurants. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful and always very upbeat and engaging. I highly recommended this hotel.
I've travelled a lot of the world and stayed in some great 5 star hotels and some not so great hotels. But the playa has by far the most friendly and welcoming staff in all the hotels I've been in the world, they are great even with a slight language problem with some... It's situated 30 seconds from the beach but some rooms have sea views from a balcony. Lovely cool air con which is a must in the hot Italian weather. Now the best part, the price is fantastic a 3rd of the price of its grand neighbour but with almost the same view, the rooms are spotlessly clean, very comfortable beds I'll be returning for sure
Unsure as to why this place has such a high rating. Location is great but other than that am failing to see what the fuss is about. Room in need of a make over and the air con was down right rubbish....would have had a cooler breeze off an ice cream! Spoke to staff about this twice and was ignored twice! Wouldn't stay again, Grand Hotel for me next time!
Our family room, four beds, was the ugliest hotel room I have seen since the 80s, perhaps the 70s. The hotel was characterized by a lack of interest, e g the grumpy receptionist in the ugly reception. Nobody can have changed a lamp or painted a wall there in decades. Rather terrible hotel experience. However, I must be fair, the bathroom was all right and the breakfast buffet decent. The town and beach are nice.
The breakfast was OK but variety could have been better: there were mainly sweet foods. We don't have any information about the lunch / dinner because we ate out. The hotel is near the beach about 2 minutes on foot. We got discount from the hotel for the beach (there is no free beach in Viareggio!). There is no private parking you have to pay for it. You can buy it for several days in advance at the hotel reception. The room was very nice and clean. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We informed them that we are on our honeymoon and we expected for some little extra but there was none. It is not a big issue but we would have been glad.
