Stayed 7 nights as wanted the luxury of a central location with links to Florence, Pisa and Lucca but also opportunity to have some beach time. Hotel was clean and staff were polite but wouldn’t say welcoming. Returned from this holiday sleep deprived beds were rock hard, was put on 3rd floor and disturbed by noise from roof top bar. Breakfast was a bit hit and miss, quality of fresh produce was not great and if wanted fresh juice had to pay extra ( never experienced this in any other hotel across the continent!). Hotel have an agreement with Bagno La Pace so if you have booked the beach package get option to sit on deckchairs with an umbrella or pay an extra 10euro each if wanting a proper sunbed. Beach is typical Italian regimented lines of sun beds and umbrellas which is fine, what is not fine is being hassled by beach vendors every 5 mins surely if paying to go on the beach would at least expect this to be monitored, had to be rude to get them to leave you alone otherwise they would just stand at the end of your sunbed, which was not what I wanted to do whilst on holiday.…
We stayed 5 nights at the Palace Hotel in Via Reggio in one of their De lux apartments. The hotel is well located in the city and the proximity to the beach is of course a big plus. The apartment is top class, however, the hotel is old and probably saw its best days in the early 80's ”make it nice”the least you can ask if you want to title yourself with 4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ They try to deliver high class service but fail time and time again, the cleaning is inadvertently bad despite most reminders, the hotel can not even bother to wash 2 cups of coffee. The sand lies every afternoon like a sandpaper in the apartment, wonderfully glued by some cheap Italian detergent. For SEK 6,000 a night, you can make higher demands, I think. The breakfast light years from what you get at the simplest hotel in Sweden. You need to add SEK 90 to get freshly squeezed orange juice, otherwise you have to put up with concentrate with several e numbers in :)…
Lovely location on promenade. Stylish hotel ,bedroom nice but a little jaded, bathroom lovely and modern and all immaculately clean. The reception staff are really helpful and efficient as are the dinning room staff. Great selection of choices for breakfast. Would highly recommend this beautifully furnished hotel.
Excellent location in the main promenade and shopping street. An older but well maintained hotel with gracious lounges and a lovely breakfast area. Comfortable and clean bedrooms. Modern bathrooms equipped with all facilities. Good breakfast with plenty of choices, but quite slow service. Reception staff quite rude.
Beautiful hotel in the centre of Viareggio (al luongo mare). The rooms are really nice, clean and the bed and pillows are so comfortable. The staff is really friendly and helpful. They helpt us a lot with a difficult issue (my friend broke her leg) and they took such good care of her and us! I would definitely recommend the Palace Hotel!
I was concerned when I first saw my room, as it was incredibly old fashioned looking, and filled with a variety of old furniture of the sort my grandmother favoured. The whole hotel is decorated that way in fact, from the lobby to the dining room, the corridors and the lifts. It's all very tired, at first glance, and I much prefer more modern decor. But I ended up being very comfortable here and it was excellent value for money given the great location on the seafront in the centre of town. The staff were wonderfully friendly and patient (in excellent English) getting me a matress topper after a bad night on a very hard bed and working hard to try and get us a dinner reservation on a Saturday night. And my room had excellent aircon and a very nicely modernised bathroom, with excellent water pressure in the shower. Breakfast was good too, and the rooftop bar has amazing views and serves lovely cocktails - just remember to book if you want a front row spot to enjoy the sunset from.…
We stayed at the hotel for two weeks and really enjoyed it. Initially the room allocated was very dark and we discussed this with the hotel Manager Eduardo who explained that the day we arrived was a national holiday and all rooms were full. The next day he moved us to a better much lighter room and gave a tour of the rooftop bar. Throughout his handling of the issue was excellent. The breakfast is one of the best that we have experienced in hotels and the waiting staff were always very helpful with nothing being too much trouble. The location of the hotel is very good in the centre of the city and close to the beach. The train station is only 15 minutes walk from the hotel and during our stay visited Lucca, Pisa, Florence and Cinqe Terre that are all very easy to travel to.
The question is asked should we have come away on holiday? The answer is yes of course, but we were a little apprehensive with the Covid situation. The hotel is excellent and we were really looked after by the staff who are lovely, warm and friendly. The breakfast is wonderful with a really nice choice and the staff made our mornings really pleasurable. The cleaning staff kept our room spotlessly clean and were lovely too and can't do enough to help. The evening meals were also very good with plenty of choice. Marco our waiter was very accommodating to our dietary requirements.. It is pleasant walking up the main strip with plenty of eating places and bars. Regards to the restrictions in place for Covid, these are very well adhered to with temperature spot checks on the station and plenty of hand sanitiser available. We actually felt safer and more comfortable than in the UK. The railway station is about a 15 minutes walk from the hotel and the service is excellent with very reasonable ticket prices €13-00 return to Lucca and a little more to Pisa for the two of us. Lucca is a must visit. A walled medieval town loaded with character and history. A big thank you to all of the staff and management of the hotel for keeping us safe and helping us have a really relaxing stay. The roof terrace is the perfect hideaway for a tan!…
Location right on the front line over the road and promenade with the private beach facilities. Rooms are clean and well decorated in joyful way. Stuff is friendly and helpful. Parking is allocated in the special near by places.
We only stayed one night, but the staff made us fell very welcome, we were upgraded to a sea view room which was spotless and very roomy, the bathroom was clean and spacious as well. The breakfast is excellent with a great choise of food. The hotel staff were there to help and we felt very relaxed in the hotel, we will return again in the summer for a longer stay.
