Roberto the man of the house was very friendly and made our stay at Tropea really pleasant. The rooms are big and very clean and the price is fair. The included breakfast on the rooftop was amazing and a perfect start in the day. We can supremely recommend la residenza il barone and we would definitely go there again if...

This beautifully restored hotel is smack in the middle of Tropea's centro storico -- a relaxing refuge from all the hustle bustle of this dynamic little town. The huge suite -- more like a one-bedroom apartment -- is steps away from a beautiful rooftop garden with spectacular panoramic views in all directions. It's where the day starts with a big,...

We would recommend this little hotel as an outstanding find. Location is fantastic. Just down a little alley from the main square. Roberto and his staff have gone out of their way to make our stay memorable. Lovely breakfast rooftop terrace and clean comfortable room in a fine old building. It does help to be able to speak some Italian.

We so enjoyed staying here. Tropea for us was a one night stopover on the way to Sicily, and we sorely regretted that. From the funny beginning, where we were saved by Rosanna as we had gone to the villa instead of the residenza, to the warm and friendly breakfast ladies, great restaurant recommendations, and Roberto personally driving us back...

All I can say is "wow". We paid the extra EUR10.00 for parking so were sent to their sister property just out of town. Here we were greeted by Rosella as if we were family! She put us (and our luggage) in her car and drove us into the absolute centre of this charming town where we found Residenza Il...

We had 4 nights here and I could have stayed forever. We absolutely loved everything about residenzia barone. Roberto so friendly and helpful. The two lovely ladies who made the breakfast. The sound of the church bells in the morning was magic to our ears. We felt totally immersed in Calabrian culture. This is a b&b not a big hotel...

Nice location we booked 4 nights at the Junior Suite. The room we were allocated was on the top accomodation floor, and these were loft rooms. This set up is a bit weird, ie. you cant look out the windows, they were skylights. But the room was large and very clean and the bed was big. However, it is a...

An exceptional place to stay in Tropea is the Residenza il Barone. It's location is perfect right off the main piazza, it has a rooftop lounge with the most magnificent views over the little town and out to sea, and best of all, the hospitality of Roberto Barone, the owner, is so genuine. The rooms are spacious and modern, breakfast...

My son and I came from the US. Never been before in an actual medieval resort. Il Barone is in the heart of downtown close to everything. Breakfast is in a terrace over viewing town and the ocean: breathtaking. The service friendly and efficient. The owner Roberto is very helpful with indications and recommendations about what to see. Because it...

This was our 5th visit in the last 10 years with my last visit being a few years ago. Roberto is still running the show and everything is still just as great as the last time. Roberto may still not speak but he is one of the best hosts I have ever had. We had our same junior suite as...
