Not knowing Sulmona, we booked this hotel on the internet. Although the rooms are spacious and clean, the hotel was a swing and a miss. It is a large hotel, but only four rooms were occupied. It was an absolute ghost hotel. The breakfast facilities were disappointing. They advertise with having a gym, but in reality there is a gym housed in the building of which guests can make use for € 5,- per person per day. The hotel is located outside of town and it is too far to walk to Sulmona city center. The only plus was the fact that it is right next to a busy road, which takes you to several nice places in the Apennine mountains.

Don't book this hotel unless it is for a business meeting. For tourist visits, make sure you choose a hotel in Sulmona city.

This is a very new hotel outside the main town of Sulmona and was hard to find as the GPS didn't have that part of the street in it and sent us somewhere else. It's also a bit odd as there is a huge lobby but no sign of the reception desk - it is upstairs on the first floor, and there didn't seem to be many staff or many other guests - in fact they seemed a bit unused to having people there - possibly they are mainly used for conferences. However, the staff who were there were very helpful and friendly, and the room was fine, obviously very modern rather than a converted old place so a bit more jazzy than usual. It's about 5 mins drive to downtown Sulmona.

Big modern hotel on the outskirts of Sulmona. I t felt like we were the only people staying the place seemed deserted. The rooms are big and clean and the breakfast is very nice. Big plus for us was the fact that we could check in at 1 in the morning. Most reception desks are closed at 11 pm in these parts.

Rude, unprofessional, unfair owners.
Breakfast unacceptable, the facility is cold and impersonal, far from the city center you should have a vehicle.
Quality is just a small talk, poor value-for-money, definitely not recommended.

We stayed one week in May 2011, and found this hot el to be excellent: completely wheelchair friendly, front desk service of exceptional helpfulness. I would recommend this hotel unreservedly.

Very poor English. Restaurant terrible hours must order ahead for meals. Good temperature control. Worst Wi-Fi every. Cuts out often. Signal is so weak I cannot send anything with photo vwhen the signal is so weak it cuts off and you have to go outside your room and stand in the hall to get it back. Window shades didn't work so I couldn't close them to keep the light out at night

Response from Maurizio Z, Responsabile relazioni con la clientela at Manhattan Village Hotel
Responded 21 Nov 2015
La Reception del Manhattan Village Hotel Good morning Mr. Tom thank to have left a review about our Hotel; in connection with this, we would like to make the following comments to specify some aspects : “curtains that do not darken enough”: We are sorry that you did not ask the reception about this problem, we would have informed You about the fact that in Italy, to darken the rooms we use the rolling shutter and our Hotel is furnished of ultramodern and perfectly working ones. “poor english ”: Our hotel has a brilliant interpreter graduated in foreign languages and a collaborator of various Italian universities. You have never even approached the front desk, so unfortunately neither our interpreter nor the rest of the staff have had the pleasure to meet and converse with You. We really hope to have the opportunity during Your next trip. “poor connection wi-fi” : Here you are right, but we had warned guests with signs at the reception as the phone company was doing some works, so we were expecting few problems of connection. “terrible restaurant”: Terrible because it was necessary the reservation ? The reservation was necessary because the hotel was fully booked and it ran the risk that a few guests remained without place; this is why the management has opted for this solution. However , while we respect Your opinion, frankly it does not seem to be a good reason to judge "terrible" this organizational choice. Having said that, we reiterate that we were honored to have You as our guest in our hotel and we hope that next time there will be the opportunity to know each other better and to overcome the little problems you mentioned. Best regards The Reception Manhattan Village Hotel

Nice and clean rooms. staff nice and helpful. Breakfast very basic and very few guests around. GPS do not recognize the street number when you look for the hotel, but it can be seen from the road as it stand in the middle of a plain and empty land

Good morning, the hotel is very large and very beautiful but I would like to make a note about the staff who manage it, Rossella, grumpy, mean and ignorant for being in contact with customers. The food leaves much to be desired...... I strongly advise against it.

Very clean hotel, large and very comfortable rooms. We stayed for New Year's Eve. They also organized dinner for the New Year's Eve, with music to entertain us during the evening ☺️ wonderful experience. Friendly and helpful staff.
Typical breakfast, I found exceptional quality on the desserts, fresh homemade I imagine. Overall everything was positive.
I would absolutely recommend it 💯
