I will always remember with great fondness this magical place. My friend and i stayed for a week in Giovanni's House, Country house Ristorante "II Prato", in the small village of Messenano. Once part of an ancient castle the village rests in the beautiful Umbrian countryside making this a very interesting and restorative place to stay. Emanuela warmly welcomed us to "our house" in which we relaxed into all the comforts of home Italian style. The history, the atmosphere, the peace and the delicious ristorante food made this an unforgettable treat beyond any other on my 6 week european holiday!

We are family with smal children, we choose this place to celebrate the New Year's Eve and it was wonderful! The County House is part of medieval village, very characteristic, that offers a marvelous vew on the hills of Umbria. It is very easy to reach the place - it is well signed and it is impossible to get lost. It has a strategic position, immersed in the nature, but also near to citys of historical interset. We had a lagrge and confortable appartment, clean and cosy with Christmas decoration and a fireplace. The owners - Milena and Morena are so nice, kind and helpful that made our stay really pleasant! The kitchen was excellent - the tasty tipical plates, that Milena and Morena cooked for us were really exceptional, prepared with fresh and natural products and served with style. Thank you, Milena and Morena, you made us feel special! We will surely come back!

A very beautiful place to stay at. Because of the cold burst of weather in Italy, we were the only guests, and we felt like we were living the lives of "the rich and famous!" Gracious Milena cooked us the best meal we had in all of Italy. We sat in her warm, intimate dining room, right off our colorful bedroom. It was like having your own private chef. Homemade pasta, bruschetta with truffle sauce, gnocchi with pecarino cheese...all SO fresh and delicious. And then: homemade dessert - berry cheesecake and pana cotta with caramel sauce....with every bite, we were sighing with joy! Milena was a friendly and very personable host. We loved the little (tiny!) village, and took a walk with the local friendly dog. Milena's house is colorful, ancient, cozy, and I hope we can return again! There's not much to do there but indulge all your senses...which was just fine with us! Make sure to visit the Ponte delle Torri in Spoleto.

What an hidden gem! Messenano is a lovely rural italian village dated back to 1000 AC which nowadays counts only 40 inhabitants. Some of the ancient stone built houses have been converted into B&B. We stayed at Country House "Il Prato" and could not have been more happy with our choice: Morena and Milena are gracious hosts and wonderful cooks. After enjoying an exquisite, delicious dinner (served in the tiny square of the village) at a very reasonable price you can spend some time with locals playing cards on their thresholds or strolling in the narrow streets (it will take you only 3 minutes to visit the whole burg!). B&B rooms and bathrooms are newly renovated and very well equipped: ours ("yellow") was small but had everything we were in need of. From time to time, common activities such as cooking lessons and wine tasting are organized: we did not have the chance to attend any of them, but would have loved to! A small swimming pool overlooking the countryside adds a modern touch to the relaxed atmosphere.
