STRUCTURE: only hotel resorts that can be defined in the whole coast of Italy, great cluster of villas on the Argentario promontory, overlooking the sea, secluded, a haven for lovers of silence, the sea, peace and the class trends in Italy. If you seek the classic American mega resort that is not for you, here you can still feel the...

We wanted to get away from it all and enjoy the last days of summer. We decided to go three nights to Il Pelicano. This is a perfect Hideaway and you feel like in a time capsule back to the 60th. You expect that Peter Sellers comes around the corner and looks for Brigit Bardot. The views are a bit...

Il Pellicano is a stylish hideaway. Our experience was one of manicured grounds smelling of rosemary and pine, smiling helpful staff, and tucked-away places to sit and enjoy the view of the sea.  There is a cosy, almost "country house party" feeling about this hotel, even though the estate is very large and on lots of different levels.  The guest...

Impeccable, warm, personalized service. Top-notch amenities. Modern rooms, spacious bathrooms (but beware of a design mistake that is a step that you can't help but bump into as you enter the bathroom, and one that you almost always miss, since it blends in with the floor, so that's a lawsuit in the making). Great decor. None of that impeccable service...

Horrible rip off in the middle of nowhere is the only way to describe this glorified Holiday Inn. It has nice views and good food but the rooms are outdated and dirty. Apparently, they have not gotten the memo here about infectious diseases. The "gym", which is comprised of 2 machines and some weights in a closet, offered headsets that...

This hotel is fantastic! It has a totally cool retro feel to it. I kept expecting to see Steve McQueen walk around the corner. Seriously, a very lovely hotel, fantastic 2 star Michelin restaurant, and a delightful staff. I highly recommend Il Pellicano for a relaxing vacation.

We ended up at Il Pellicano through a comedy of errors. We actually had a reservation for a hotel of the same name in Sardinia, but thought that we had reserved the one in Tuscany! The receptionist was amused and extremely friendly. Luckily, they did have a free room and (obviously) we stayed in Tuscany. (It would have been a...

You know that scene in Casino Royale where that pompous guy tosses James Bonds the keys, thinking that he’s the valet? This resort is filled with those pompous douches, and that’s putting it mildly. The fact that the hotel houses a bunch of pretentious pricks can’t really be helped, but the hotel itself was at best a 3.5 star hotel....

Dear Ms Ko, We thank you for your review as we always look forward improving our service at IL PELLICANO and your feedback is very important to us. We understand you feel disappointed regarding how the matter with the forgotten key was handled and it seems to be an internal miscommunication which I really apologize for. We are really sorry...

We are frequent travelers to Italy... one of our favorite ways to recover from jet lag and prepare for our time in Italy is to go directly from Fiumicino Airport to Il Pellicano. This will be our fourth stay here. There is little to add to the wonderful comments made about Pellicano on this website the last two months. This...

My husband and I spent three days at this absolutely wonderful gem of a hotel. Prior to our arrival, we made plans to explore the surrounding area and visit other towns. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The elegant five-star hotel, located in Tuscany's Maremma region, was built in the mid-1960s as a love nest for Michael and Patricia Graham and it is today part of The Leading Hotels of the World. The home, called Il Pellicano as a tribute to the first time the couple met at Pelican Point in California, was initially a club for the Grahams' friends, but was subsequently expanded and opened to friends of friends. However, a few things remained the same: the pleasure of feeling at home and the glamorous and slightly retro atmosphere. The hotel's discrete luxury and the still-rugged Tuscan countryside attract the international jet set. Today, the cottages and the central building are suspended between the sky and the sea, with large rooms, windows and terraces where it's unclear where the indoors end and the outdoors begin. There are pathways and stairways, fragrant gardens and discrete corners, a restaurant with one Michelin stars and three Gambero Rosso forks, a heated sea-water swimming pool, a spa with a sea view to soothe both the body and the soul, and for those wanting to take a dip in the Tyrrhenian Sea, a white platform with chaise longue and immaculate parasols. ... more   less
