Villaggio dei Pescatori Hotel is located in Le Forna on the Ponza island, overlooking the beautiful bay of Cala Feola, a short stroll from the beach and the natural swimming pools, both within walking distance by means of a path and a stairway. It’s located 5 km from the crowded port area and is well connected by a continuous bus and taxi service. The side which most characterizes the essence of this little pearl of the Tyrrhenian Sea, is the highlights of its wild side, showing the most spectacular coves, sheltering among the rocks in the most secluded bays where the sea is still the undisputed protagonist.

I wanted to impress my Australian partner by showing him the beauty of my region, so I decided to take him to Ponza and to stay at this lovely hotel for 4 days.
We were welcomed with fresh drinks (not to mention, we were also picked up from the port by Giorgio for free) at our arrival, and Marco, the hotel manager, gave us a map of the island and info on the best beaches to visit and how to get there.
Then he showed us our wonderful room with a view of the sea and a spacious terrace (there is also a Jacuzzi not too far away in the courtyard that can be used by guests).
The room was spacious, comfortable and as clean as it could be. The beach of Cala Feola as well as Piscine Naturali are within walking distance, although the stairs to get there are in a state of disrepair and could be dangerous for the elderly and those with mobility issues.
Despite that, we greatly enjoyed both places and had a fantastic holiday.
On our last day we had time to spare before the departure of our ferry, so we enjoyed a free drink on the lovely terrace of the hotel and we were also given free water bottles for our trip back.
Of course Giorgio took us back to the port for free.
Marco and his team are absolutely lovely people and made us feel at home. Thank you so much!!!

From the moment we were picked up at the port we were treated with so much warmth, care and personal attention. Our room was spotless. The sea views fantastic. The Piscine Naturali within walking distance. The food delicious. Everyone we encountered was a delight. Alberto went above and beyond. Manuel was so helpful and kind and funny. Frederiquo was adorable. The waitress from Brazil (Julia?) lovely. And the women at the included breakfast in the morning were wonderful too. The shuttle driver was also great. It was a fantastic stay. Wish we were there longer. My only regret is we couldn't find Alberto in the morning to leave a gratuity for him and Manuel. They definitely deserved it.

For the past few summers, I have made an over-night trip to Ponza with my husband and two daughters. Previously, we stayed at the Chiaia di Luna but after a very disappointing experience there last time we decided to try another hotel. This was one of the few hotels that agreed to let us stay a single night during high-season. The hotel is located in the middle of the island in the La Forna area, which is on the coast overlooking a large cove. There is a shuttle van from the center that goes back and forth all day- a 15 minute trip that will have your heart in your throat as you watch two cars pass each other on a high-altitude road you swear was only designed for 1.5 vehicles. The hotel is comprised of a series of terraced units set into the side of the cliffs overlooking the cove. The views are spectacular- you can see the island of Palmarola in the distance. The hotel is new, with medium sized rooms, mini-fridges & modern baths. All beautifully tiled and immaculately clean. Each room has individual heat/AC units. Our unit had a large patio area outside the front door with a table and chairs. There are several paths that lead down to the cove for sunbathing and swimming. The sand beach is to the left- the rock beach is to the right-- choose the latter, as the trucked-in sand is not very appealing, even though the water itself is crystal clear. There are lounge chairs for rent on the rock-side. The hotel owners and staff were very friendly and helpful. The food served at the hotel was very good- the place was packed at every meal; the balcony where we ate also provided glorious ocean views. This a perfect place for a quiet, peaceful get-away. If you want night-life & activity you'll have to go back to the Center to get it. We plan to return next year.

This is the third year in a row that I have come to Villaggio die Pescatori on the island of Ponza.
I absolutely love this place. The rooms are very beautiful, with spectacular views of the sea. Very picturesque, all the comforts. Air conditioning. The food at the hotel restaurant is very good, and guests dine out on a beautiful terrace. There is a small cove with nice sandy beach within easy walking distance where you can find a wonderfully rustic restaurant tucked into the cliffs. The food is the freshest fish imaginable, caught by the locals each day. Hotel Villaggio dei Pescatori provides free shuttle service to the port and shopping area. The staff is very friendly and helpful with making arrangements for daytime boating trips around Ponza, and to the nearby islands. I highly recommend the tours by Silverio. If you desire a beautiful location combined with peace and quiet, this is a winner!

I had booked to stay in Ponza after reading an article in The Times. The island is OK, but not particularly beautiful or amazing - the port is dirty and smelly, the island was a real disappointment to be honest. The Hotel was also a let down. The room was nearly clean, very small and smelled damp: the shower door was hanging off and leaked, the towels were cheap and nasty as was the bed linen, the deck chairs were provided without cushions, the bed was very small and uncomfortable. The air con was not switched on when we first arrived and we were told that it was only on until August, they did turn it on for us as it was v hot but it did take an age to work and then continued to leak. The food in the Hotel: there was nothing available when we first arrived off the ferry (that arrives at the same time most days) so we had to walk 20 mins to the local shop after having travelled to the island. At dinner we did luckily have the very helpful American sounding waiter but the menu was so limited, this was because we were off season (?? hardly) and they were running things down - all that was available was fish - which was OK but not brilliant. Lunch the next day we were told was exactly the same as dinner. Breakfast was not good, one small stale croissant and one coffee, juice was OK but kept running out. We cut our stay short due to all of this. We had to pay EUR40 to be taken to a restaurant where we could get a "decent" dinner and back, then also pay EUR20 to be taken to the ferry port too. I would not recommend this Hotel, or Ponza really to be honest, I was deeply disappointed.

Response from hotelvillaggio, Responsabile relazioni con la clientela at Hotel Villaggio dei Pescatori
Responded 4 Aug 2013
We read this review a bit late and we thought it was our duty to answer, providing also the point of view of the hotel. We understand how this customer may feel, but to be honest, we must say that they have been a bit unfortunate with the weather which was the real cause of their dissatisfaction. Due to the fact that throughout their stay it rained almost every day, and when it didn't, it was cloudy, with high humidity.

Without ever having been to Ponza, I selected Hotel Villaggio dei Pescatori as the place for a romantic getaway, during which I planned to ask my partner to marry me.
From the first e-mail I sent to them, the hotel staff were extremely responsive, helpful, and accommodating to my every single request (I must have driven them crazy with all the e-mails). Especially Alberto was amazing, helping organise all the details of the proposal. When at the last moment the original venue (a terrace at a nearby restaurant) became unavailable due to unforeseen circumstances, Alberto arranged so it could take place on the terrace of the hotel's restaurant instead. Marco, the restaurant owner, was absolutely terrific too. At the last minute he arranged a sound system with USB input so during the moment of the proposal, a playlist I prepared would be playing.
Besides the truly incredible and personal service, the hotel has absolutely stunning views. The rooms are laid out over a handful of buildings, making it feel like a little village (hence the name of the hotel, I think).
A short (steep) walk down, you will find the "Piscine Naturali" (natural swimming pools) of Ponza, which are an amazing place to swim. There is no sand, but it is possible to do sunbathing on the rocks. There's also a small bar/restaurant to grab a bite to eat.
All-in-all, nothing but praises to this amazing hotel. We will definitely be returning.
P.S. She said yes.

We stayed here for one night, in a little "cottage" - very cute in light colours outside (yellow, pink, blue) - looks like a toy town...
The view was fantastic!! And a short walk to the sand beach and the other beach. Really nice view.
Not happy with the breakfast, not so fresh and many things to choose from.
Very serviceminded staff in the reception - picked us up at the harbour and drove us back when we wanted.

We were delighted with this hotel, which was chosen for our first visit to Ponza based on the TripAdvisor reviews (including those in Italian which I could barely make out!)
The hotel is a 15 minute windy uphill drive from the small port where the ferries and hydrofoils land, but the hotel will pick you up (and return you) if you let them know in advance.
Its website accurately shows the amazing location of the several buildings on a cliffside overlooking the sea and overhanging the "natural pools" where you can swim, sunbathe, and enjoy the comings and goings of boats, children, and waves.
The rooms and bathrooms are small-ish and quite basic, but clean and charming, and, again, with wonderful views and outdoor terraces with small tables. Breakfast (on the terrace) is included. The prices charged (at least in late May-early June) are an excellent value by any standards.
Unless you have your own transport, you will have to have most of your dinners at the hotel as well. (Given the generous breakfasts, you may be able to skip lunch.) Silverio, the current chef, does a good job with seafood and pastry!
This is a great place when the weather is warm and you are an adult who wants to spend nearly all your time outdoors on this lovely island: at the "natural pools," taking out a boat (or being taken out on one) to view the fantastic grottoes, hiking, or having drinks and dinner on the hotel terrace.
You might, however, want to avoid the highest season (August and perhaps July weekends) when Romans apparently crowd onto the island, and you might also want to make sure you are close enough to summer that the air and sea are warm enough (late May was perfect).
Be advised that the hotel is not a good choice for those wanting such amenities as wi fi, international television, spa, honeymoon package, lobby, or activities. Nor is it a good choice for people with limited mobility, since the grounds are full of steps and the way down to the "pools" is steep. It also is not a good choice for families with children or adolescents who need organized amusements.

For a simply enchanting and peaceful italian vacation you must stay at the Villagio Dei Pescatori on the island of ponza. This is not Capri with the day-trippers from the massive cruise ships that ruin an otherwise beautiful island. This is Ponza, one of the great gems of the Meditteranean.
The staff beginning with Giuseppe, Tiziano and the rest, whose names escape me now, were excellent. They saw to our every needs. The hotel sits on a cliff above some of the most beautiful waters in Italy. We never had a bad meal anywhere on the island, and the cuisine at the hotel was impeccable.
Congratulations to the hotel and their staff. We are returning this summer (2010) for another ten days

Loved this hotel - cute standalone cabins with private decks, and breakfast was included. So is a shuttle to/from the port. Trails to beautiful coves and swimming spots. This end of the island is my favorite - would definitely stay here again! Don't miss La Marina restaurant while there!

Gentile Timina 79,
