A nice stay at the centre of Montecatini terme. Comfortable rooms and very good breakfast and dinner. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and accomodating to various needs, especially for children. Live piano/singing entertainment in attendance during the weekend.
Amazing central location right off of a pedestrian only square in the center of town. Parking is a bit difficult as there’s no designated parking for the hotel although they will sell you a parking pass - relatively cheap - to park in the area where the hotel is. The rooms were very spacious, fully-appointed, the room experience was excellent. Room came with Breakfast buffet, nice variety of fresh foods, pastries, etc. Free Wi-Fi provided and was very good. The hotel has one passenger elevator, wait times can get long during checkout time.
wonderful small town hotel, some construction on the exterior happening currently. good breakfast, easy access to the train to go to Florence. local small stores are really great, local eats are delicious. parks are all around the hotel. nice walking area.
Room was very clean. Loved the decor. Staff was extremely friendly and very helpful. Definitely would recommend. Restaurant food was very good. Surrounding area very beautiful. Had no complaints. Front desk and restaurant personnel spoke English which was helpful
The Grand Hotel in Montecatini Terme was our home away from home during our weeklong tour of Tuscany. The Leaning Tower of Pisa and the walled city of Lucca were short drives; we toured them both in a single day. Access to the toll road system was close by. The train station was two blocks away with frequent service to Florence. We drove to the train station in La Spezia for our tour of Cinque Terre. We were also able to drive to Siena on another day trip. We arrived late in the afternoon to begin our stay. The Grand Hotel is located on a large pedestrian plaza. You must park at the edge of the plaza and walk to the hotel for check in. At first this seemed to present a problem, but we quickly learned that street parking was available without much inconvenience. The city of Montecatini charges for street parking, but you are able to pay the parking fees at the hotel. Give the car’s license plate number to the desk clerk at check in and the parking fee will appear on your bill at the end of your stay. If you have a handicap parking permit, parking is free. The lobby is spacious with very high ceilings. There are several comfortable chairs and sofas. The staff was friendly and efficient. It took longer to explain about parking than anything else. We were given a room on the second floor overlooking the plaza. Given the height of the lobby ceiling, that the lobby level is the ground floor and the first floor is what Americans would consider the second floor, we had an excellent view of the plaza and the windows closed tightly, so the room was quiet. Like many European hotel rooms, it was small, but very comfortable. The bathroom was good sized with a shower. We had arrived in time for the nightly Happy Hour. This is when we had the fortune to meet Angelo, our favorite bartender. Happy Hour offers discounted prices on local wines and lasts from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Every evening the kitchen prepared a light appetizer; each night was different. This often turned out to be dinner, especially on those days filled with long drives and a lot of walking. There were a couple of tables near the bar and a larger room just off the bar area that had sofas, chairs and tables; very comfortable. There was also an open air courtyard with tables and chairs; our preferred spot. Happy Hour also provided a chance to chat with other travelers. Each morning, breakfast was provided. It was set up as a buffet with members of the staff serving the guests. It was excellent with a wide choice of bread and pastries and a number of hot items. Cereals were also available as was coffee and tea. We never set out on the day’s adventures hungry. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Looking forward to a return trip.…
The staff in this hotel go out of their way to make your stay memorable. We were there over Christmas and the food was exceptional. The rooms are very clean and comfortable, only problem was poor pressure in the shower. The hotel overlooks the piazza in the centre of the town so is well positioned. Would definitely stay there again!
This hotel is on the plaza in Montecatini Terme. It is beautiful and ornate, although it shows its age in a few instances (very small elevators). The service in the bar, at breakfast and at dinner was outstanding. The breakfast buffet had many choices, including both hot and cold food. Everyone was very friendly and helpful and they even let us play their piano on our last night (Christmas carols). Parking is challenging as you have to park on the street but they provide a parking pass for 3 euros a day.
I highly recommend this property. ALL of the staff is friendly, courteous, and helpful. The hotel is clean and inviting. There are a number of good choices for breakfast. This is my 2nd time at this hotel and I would definitely stay again!
Fantastic! Would definitely come back again! All of the staff were friendly and very helpful! The breakfast area is lovely and the food was fantastic! They were great about protocols and so we felt safe in our environment. The hotel is lovely and located in the center of everything. We had no problem finding parking nearby as well.
Located on a charming piazza just minutes from the Centro train station, this historic hotel has lots of character and charm. Montecatini was a great "home base" location to access the highlights of Tuscany. The staff were most welcoming and efficient. Special thanks to Mariano for his extra effort with special requests.
