Hotel's Favourite
We were a bit apprehensive because the hotel is not near the marina or Centro Storico, but our fears were quickly gone when we called from the ferry dock and the van quickly came to pick us up. We learned that they have regular shuttle service to two points in the village and the drivers were always on time and very courteous. Antonio seemed to drive us the most and he always greet us with a cheery “good morning” regardless of the time of day. The room was spacious and comfortable, with good Wi-Fi. We enjoyed our terrace with a table and chairs. It was a nice place to check email. The bath was large and well organized with nice amenities and large towels. Breakfast was way above average. The man who took care of the buffet was energetic and eager to serve. Ornella at reception was always ready with a recommendation or helpful tip and steered us to a beach hopping service and at least one great restaurant. We just can’t stress enough how great the people were! They made our three night stay so enjoyable.

Beautiful family-run hotel located close to the port. You can either walk or they will pick you up with the shuttle if you call. Breakfast is very rich, rooms are spacious and modern. Wifi is good. I had an absolutely amazing stay!

Lipari was our first stop on our 6 week travels around the Western Mediterranean, and we were fortunate enough to stay at the Borgo Eolie. The hotel has a lovely atmosphere, is kind of aparthotel-ish, and has beautiful gardens. The swimming pool area is lovely and quite classily landscaped. However, the hotel's biggest asset is its staff - they are lovely and so obliging: they cannot do enough for their guests. This includes booking trips, suggesting restaurants and generally being genuinely friendly and helpful in so many ways. Even when I somehow managed to take the (large-fobbed!) room key away with us to Stromboli, they were unfazed and suggested a number of routes to return it! The shuttle bus service picks you up from the port, takes you anywhere you want to go, virtually at any time, day and evening, and returns you to the report when its (sadly) time to leave. Breakfast was most enjoyable and our room was tasteful and comfortable, including a large fridge. Our balcony was large and stylish. Lipari was just the first of a number of great places we stayed on our trip, but it was one of the best, and we'd like to return one day soon - definitely to stay at the Borgo Eolie!

What a fantastic week we had based here!! From arriving by hydrofoil, to taking a boat to see Stromboli volcano explode in the evening, to hoping over to Volcano Island to climb the volcano and then bathing in the hot mud baths my the sea edge etc etc. Great location however this hotel is so much more. All facilities were of a fantastic standard - room, pool etc and the mini bus shuttle was perfect - just a short ride (mins) to the town centre! However all of this was made even more perfect by all of the staff - Ornella, Antonio, Bartlo (disco- bus:)) and Simone (who came to my rescue to help my sore throat by getting me honey and hot water as prescribed by his grandmother!) An absolutely perfect holiday. Thank you all.

My husband and I stayed at this enchanting hotel for 8 nights in September. The rooms and decor was delightful with plants everywhere and swimming pool and lounge area to relax in. The staff went out of their way to make our stay comfortable and ‘planning free’ i.e they provided a list of suggested restaurants, boat trips to the islands, car and bike rentals and a great (free) shuttle bus service throughout the day to the town centre/ port and back again right through to midnight. The two drivers Bartolo and Antonio, reception staff (Simone and Ornella) and kitchen staff (Federica who made wonderful cakes for breakfast and Rosaria) where the epitome of friendliness and professionalism. A big thanks goes to Francesco the owner for surrounding himself with such a great team of staff. They made us feel at home, part of a family and reconfirmed the hospitality for which Sicily is renowned. Rooms are ample, with tv, wifi, safety box, fridge and have individual terraces with seating and clothes line to hang up swimming gear. 10-15 minute walk from town centre but free and frequent shuttle bus service is available, particularly appreciated when arriving/departing with luggage. Breakfast abundant and varied. Highly recommended.

From the free shuttle pick-up from the port upon arrival, our time at Hotel Borgo Eolie was great. Relaxing, quiet with sea views. Whilst the hotel is located a little out from the main strip of Lipari, only a 10min easy walk, the hotel provides free shuttle services throughout the day and night. This is especially useful if you are carrying shopping. The hotel is located in a quiet area with many rooms with a sea view. Balcony rooms also have clothes drying racks with pegs for drying laundry (a thoughtful touch) Great breakfast choices, clean rooms, well maintained gardens and the cleanest pool I have ever seen. The staff are helpful and are very customer focussed - nothing is too much trouble. No request is too hard for the staff at Borgo Eolie. Special mention to Bartolo who is so passionate with everything he does: shuttle service, pool and property maintenance, great conversations and shared laughs. Your work ethic, focus on making guests comfortable, relaxed and happy is outstanding. We will miss you. Thanks also to Ornella and Simone who provided us with information on tours and places to dine. Borgo Eolie is a wonderful find and definitely the place to stay in Lipari. Grazie mille e complimenti

A wonderful "find" in Lipari. Highly recommended. Ornella was a pleasure to deal with. The rooms were clean, spacious, amenities were plentiful. The complimentary breakfast was a nice surprise. The complimentary shuttle service was on time and the driver was very helpful and personable .

Borgo Eolie is a well maintained and clean property. The pool is a bonus and has a shower so you can rinse off. It is a 10-15minute walk from the pedestrian area of Lipari and the Corso Umberto. There are no city noises at night and no loud music so you will definitely get a peaceful nights sleep. Beds in Italy all seem to be quite firm, something I’m not used to and the pillows are very flat. Admittedly I didn’t ask for a fluffy pillow as we got home late every night so I’m it sure they offer them. The Borgo has a complimentary shuttle service into the centre of town or to the port, you need to fill out a form at reception to book this service. The shuttle service works at night also from 9pm every 1/2hr til midnight from the “Centro” back to the Borgo. The shuttle system works very well and was a life saver in the heat and travelling with my parents in their 70’s. I’ll include a picture of the shuttle service roster from our time there as an example. Breakfast is very adequate, with coffee from the self service coffee machine. Typical Italian pastries and sweets, fruit, yoghurt, scrambled eggs with würstel or fried prosciutto (the meats were on alternate days). Fruit juices were available. There is no toaster you have to put your bread into a hot sandwich press to toast which takes a little longer than a toaster, but still does the job. Just a few pointers, for those with mobility issues some rooms are situated where you will need to climb quite a few stairs so you would be best to ask when booking. Another typical Italian thing is the small bathrooms with equally small showers - the Borgo is no exception, if you have mobility issues you’d best call prior to booking any accommodation anywhere in Italy. Bathrooms have bidets also. Housekeeping are thorough and very clean. The rooms we stayed in 305 & 306 had a safe and small bar fridge. We also had lovely balconies which had views of the sea, with a little table and 2 chairs. Small clothes line on the balcony which was handy for hanging wet cozzies. Reception are helpful and can assist with booking and advising regarding day trips, which in the Aeolian islands are a must. Bartolo and Antonio the drivers of the shuttle are very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately in both our rooms the TV’s didn’t work for the whole 6nts we were there. It was blamed on the satellite but I’m not sure how accurate this is. I’m not sure if this will be rectified but if you require a TV I would confirm that a functioning TV is available in the room you book. All in all we really enjoyed our stayed and would probably stay here again. Below are some photos of the balcony view. A list of recommended restaurants and the shuttle schedule.

Rooms are simple but large, well equipped and comfortable, with a fridge and aircon. What makes this place special are the generous breakfasts, the superb staff and the general standard of service which includes a free shuttle to the port, and to the centre of town in the evenings. The location is quiet but close to the town, with a pool at the back of the hotel with mountain views. The best place to stay in Lipari.

Everything about my stay at the Hotel Borgo Eolie was absolutely perfect. My room was large, the bed was very comfortable, and I had a large terrace with a very pleasant view. Cleaning staff kept the room immaculate every day. Breakfast was very good, with a variety of items served in the sunny, spacious dining area. The staff were always very helpful in booking excursions and restaurant reservations for me, and the hotel has a discount arrangement for hotel guests with a long list of excellent local restaurants. A grocery and a wine bar/gourmet store are only a few blocks away, so that I could stock the fridge with some items to enjoy on my terrace. Although the hotel is only a short walk from the town center, the free hotel shuttle was very convenient. This hotel is an outstanding bargain and I will definitely return when I am next staying in Lipari.
