We cannot endorse this establishment high enough. The staff and ownership were friendly, professional and obviously proud of the very special restoration of these two historic masseria. The undoubtably genuine and accessible Roman ruins are complemented by sensitively enhanced modern accommodation. Impeccable food and beverage offerings are provided by staff who cannot do enough for you. Worth the trip from...

We have spent 9 days in this great Maseria, which looks like a small castle. We had a halfboard with delicious dinners in the evenig. During hot time you can relax in the huge pool and in the evening make a walk thru olive garden. Booked with tui.com And you need a car.

This hotel has enormous potential but whilst the communal areas (Restaurant, Pool) are of a high standard the bedrooms are in breezeblock buildings referred to by one guest as "Cell Block H". Staff helpful but appeared stretched. The place looked as if it might be struggling to survive and needed some spending on the grounds and the bedrooms. The Massaria,...

We stayed here in May 2015; it was our second Massaria experience. Massaria are fortified farmhouses, often converted to very individual hotels. We received a warm welcome & the feeling that we were guests a family estate turned out to be true, as it is a family run business. The service that we received was friendly and efficient, perhaps a...

Location amongst very old olive trees, with a nice outdoor pool embedded. Excellent and very nice, old style but modernized and renovated rooms. Unfortunately, food quality at dinner time doesn't much the room quality and look & feel of the house. The place itself is amazing and the rooms are goegeous. It's a shame that this incredible hotel is run by such a rude, arrogant and unproffesional manager. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
In the heart of an extraordinary land of Salento, 835 acres of ancient olive groves, a strong symbol of identify, surround Tenuta Monacelli and Masseria Giampaolo. They are linked together by a path. The main reception, some rooms, breakfast room, restaurant and the other bedrooms at the Masseria Giampaolo just a 5 minutes beautiful and little walk away through the olive trees. A perfect equidistant base for sightseeing, the gorgeous baroque city of Lecce just 15 km away and a short drive from picturesque countryside and wonderful sandy beaches, turquoise sea water, ancient watchtowers historically used to ward off pirates and Saracens: a compendium of everything that is Salento. Two beautiful majestic historic buildings belonging to the same owner, formed of two areas of accommodation. Only 24 guestrooms are a mixture of standards, superiors and suites - all beautifully restored and some with high vaulted ceilings. Elegance, charme and comfort have been combined. The sumptuous suites are located in the two towers. Common to all rooms are an en-suite bathroom (some with bath tube and some with shower), hairdryer, television, telephone, mini-bar, safe and air conditioning The in-house restaurant "Rifugio del Re" is open for both lunch and dinner, serving a variety of dishes from the local area of Salento - some traditional and some with a modern twist to them. The farm produces a valuable first-class extra vergin olive oil, its cultivation and production takes months of patience and great care. It is a ritual that has been passed down through the centuries. The olive oil plays a large part in the recipes as does all the fresh vegetables and herbs which are grown in the gardens. A comprehensive wine list completes the picture ensuring that you have the perfect accompanying wine with your delicious meal. The real icing on the cake is the huge and Inviting outdoor swimming pool surrounded by comfy sunloungers shaded by parasols, you may wish to just while away your time here working up your appetite by doing a couple of lengths and then relaxing with a chilled drink and a tasty snack from the nearby bar. Plus there is a gym overlooking the pool. As lovely as the guestrooms are, the great location boasts the most spectacular outside areas; bright coloured flowers and age old trees sits between the two buildings. Guests can walk along the trails that wind through the park. The marvelous restored mill is still leaving the historic character of the property as it was intended. Picturesque setting for every kind of ceremony, the ideal scenario and delightful venue for meetings, seminars and private events. An enchanting land with uninterrupted views of the surrounding olive trees, timeless like the place where it is located, hidden in the archaic nature of Salento.
