I visited L'Aquila for the third time this year and it was the first time I stayed here. Great position, quiet and filled with history. Elegance in details and good "quality to price ratio". I enjoyed the familiar atmosphere and great food and wines offered with honest smiles. For sure the city hides other magical restaurated hotels, but I will definitely choose again this one for my next stay in L'Aquila.
Just passing this hotel/restaurant after visiting the 99 Canella. Me and my wife wanted a glass of wine. The restaurant was almost empty but we were turned away by the waiter. He said. This is not a bar. This is a restaurant. What the f... is that. So if you are a guest at the hotel you cannot ask for a drink unless you eat as well. Not a place for me to stay.
Amazing and stunning place with the best restaurant anyone can ask for. I highly recommend you try the Chitarra Alla Amatriciana there it's insanely delicious. Location is great, close to the train station and to the centre of town. Clean, cozy and super friendly environment.
Very nice, attractive and expensive. The wait staff speak English and describe dishes well. Not exactly what comes out on the dish. What was described sounded unusual, so I ordered it, what I got was a plate of carbonara. The appetizer of arugula, speck and orange slices tasted awesome but came in a a martini glass?? Three of us ejoyed the afternoon, but had to find the waiter to pay, we were the only customers in for lunch. I was shocked to see the plate of lamb for the three of us cost 65 euros. The whole lunch was 95 euros included two bottles of wine.
We visited this hotel before the earthquake and loved it. Although we were happy to see it open again it has lost some of its character. Virtually no storage in the rooms and ours was dark. Breakfast pretty poor. Nice people in difficult circumstances- 6 years later and the centre still looks like a war zone. Not a place to go unless you already love it as we do- l'aquila that is.
