My wife and I got the last room here as we passed through the Chianti region. It seems to be run by a great small team of people who go out of their way to make you feel welcome and cared for. On arrival we did some tasting of Mezzei's lovely wines. Our room was part of a lovely apartment...

We stayed in the family room (couple + two kids) for 6 days and had a great experience! The place is magic, you feel totally inserted in a Tuscan village! It is beautiful and charming, and the breakfast is fantastic (served in the restaurant in front of the villa). The wine shop and wine tour are also very nice. You...

My husband and our three boys (7,5 and newborn) stayed at the Castello di Fonterutoli in their 2-bedroom apartment in July 2015 for a week. The property was unbelievable (true Tuscan paradise) and the service even better. This was our second visit to Fonterutoli as my husband and I got engaged here 10 years ago (my husband claims he got...

This is a brilliant property set in a really old village and adjacent to a vineyard (owned by the Mazzei family - it's been producing wine for 25 generations!). The B&B is quite beautiful (tends to get awfully quiet at night). The room & bathroom both, are first rate. One downside is that other than the restaurant on the property,...

We spent 4 nights at the Castello di Fonterutoli, and we could not be more impressed with the entire experience. We were provided a beautiful and spacious room in one of the villas, with a large private bath and shared access to an incredible living room and kitchen. The property was superbly kept. We enjoyed walks nightly around the vineyards...

I went to Fonterutoli to celebrate my wedding anniversary (11th !!!) because a friend of mine, wine expert and owner of a restaurant with 1 Michelin star, suggested their restaurant. Looking at their web site I saw their hotel facilities and decided to stay overnight. The evening has been simply unforgettable, the sunset, the birds, the wonderful room, the nice...

Beautiful experience the one just lived in Fonterutoli, very quiet village in the heart of Chianti. Rooms and facilities are furnished with simplicity and elegance. The common areas convey the feeling of being at home. The staff is very kind, helpful and efficient (super Jeany!). Also good is the dinner at the Osteria di Fonterutoli, where you can taste excellent...

BUT: the food was ok, not comparable to other restaurants in the area with the same standard. rooms are nice, rustic and charming, but with an old shower in the batht. wifi was completely off, which is in these...

We arrived here not having visited Tuscany before. Castello di Fonterutoli is an old Tuscan village set on the hillside and is a collection of beautiful old stone buildings around a small church. It is owned by the Mazzei family and has produced it's own fine wines since 1435. The views all around are stunning and the accommodation did not...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Castello di Fonterutoli estate offers 12 country-chic rooms inspired by the colors of Chianti and restored with authentic taste by the family architect, Agnese Mazzei. All the rooms are located in the historic homes of the Fonterutoli hamlet, the true heart of the estate since centuries, and provide the special feeling of "living in a Tuscan country village". The hamlet houses the Fattoria, Roseto, Limonaia and Carpentiere historic homes, where all of the rooms are located, as well as the Enoteca di Fonterutoli where wine tastings are held, and the Osteria di Fonterutoli Restaurant, both only few steps away from any of our rooms. Ranging in size from 70 to 200 square feet (20 square meters to 60 square meters), all of the rooms boast their own personality with charming, comfortable bedrooms, individual bathrooms, village views, and panoramic terraces with countryside vistas. They all maintain the ambiance of a quintessential Chianti country house. Ancient terra cotta floors, exposed ceiling beams, and precious family antiques provide a warm and inviting atmosphere, making Fonterutoli an ideal environment in which to savor Tuscan country life. Outdoor activities such as hiking, biking and horseback riding can be easily arranged during Guests' stay. Wine tours of our spectacular winery, wine tastings as well as visits to nearby villages and towns, local farms, factories and artisan shops can be organized. Cooking classes can also be arranged and are available on the property. Guests can reserve individual rooms located within the historic homes throughout the hamlet. Upon request, or in case of larger groups, the entire apartment can be reserved, where guests have full use if the kitchen. ... more   less
