My wife, two sons and their wives and our 14 year old granddaughter had never been to Tuscany and received a recommendation to stay at Castello di Fonterutoli. We rented the entire Fattoria house which accommodated us all plus includes a large living room and kitchen. It was fabulous. Maintained its historical charm while having modern conveniences. Very comfortable! We...

We had a wonderful stay at Castello di Fonterutoli. The staff were friendly and showed us where to park in this small village (by the church), and showed us our room at the Castello. We were three adults and got a family room; one bedroom with a king bed, one bedroom with two twin beds, and one bathroom with a...

We had the pleasure of staying two nights in this enchanting B&B. The staff upon check-in were friendly and polite, and during the stay did their upmost to assist us and ensure our time was enjoyable. We were offered a mini-Fonterutoli wine tasting upon arrival at the Enoteca di Fonterutoli which was a nice debut. The rooms are delightful, tastefully...

Wonderful location just a few km from Castellina in a tiny, tiny charming Tuscan village of the same name, we came to tour the winery and tasting, but had a chance to view the accommodations - quite splendid. Tuscan farmhouses and ancient buildings repurposed as rental villas. Makes for a great base for exploring the Chiant Classico area and beyond....

I can't help but feel a little disappointed by our experience at Castello di Fonterutoli. Nothing to complain about, but after 4 nights staying here with my husband in Sep, I felt somewhat underwhelmed. OK, so what's great about it? It's in a brilliant spot if you want to explore the Chianti region. Florence and Siena are less than an...

Very authentic, very small Toscana village and our house had 3 rooms, with one main room and dining room in between. Just as we wanted, we stayed in an original Tuscan house. After long day of visiting the wineries, we appreciated the dinner and the wine in the osteria. The wine list includes the notes given by Parker and other wine...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Castello di Fonterutoli estate offers 12 country-chic rooms inspired by the colors of Chianti and restored with authentic taste by the family architect, Agnese Mazzei. All the rooms are located in the historic homes of the Fonterutoli hamlet, the true heart of the estate since centuries, and provide the special feeling of "living in a Tuscan country village". The hamlet houses the Fattoria, Roseto, Limonaia and Carpentiere historic homes, where all of the rooms are located, as well as the Enoteca di Fonterutoli where wine tastings are held, and the Osteria di Fonterutoli Restaurant, both only few steps away from any of our rooms. Ranging in size from 70 to 200 square feet (20 square meters to 60 square meters), all of the rooms boast their own personality with charming, comfortable bedrooms, individual bathrooms, village views, and panoramic terraces with countryside vistas. They all maintain the ambiance of a quintessential Chianti country house. Ancient terra cotta floors, exposed ceiling beams, and precious family antiques provide a warm and inviting atmosphere, making Fonterutoli an ideal environment in which to savor Tuscan country life. Outdoor activities such as hiking, biking and horseback riding can be easily arranged during Guests' stay. Wine tours of our spectacular winery, wine tastings as well as visits to nearby villages and towns, local farms, factories and artisan shops can be organized. Cooking classes can also be arranged and are available on the property. Guests can reserve individual rooms located within the historic homes throughout the hamlet. Upon request, or in case of larger groups, the entire apartment can be reserved, where guests have full use if the kitchen. ... more   less
