Well first of all a great thanks for the kind and honest hospitality from the whole sur la mer team. It felt like arriving at a family I didn’t know yet. The welcoming was great, the room was as I imagined and as I wanted it to be, high end clean Indian design and the garden facilities and the hotel facilities are in very good conditions too. I did stay here ten days and I can’t complain about the Amazing vibe of this place, the owners family who are very kind and fun people, the amazing food or the general price value of the place.
Only thing I might would consider would be fans outside the balconies as it can be very hot during the day and maybe modern power plugs and light switches, especially when you are on the high beds it’s difficult to charge your phone or watch.

But as mentioned overall a very nice place and certainly my new must stay in goa.
Thanks again for this great holidays.
(Unfortunately can’t upload the videos)

Location wise, it’s a little bit more calm but just 5min walk to the beach and the bigger night clubs or famous bars and restaurants are within 30-40min drive, nevertheless a lot of nice little spots around the hotel.
(Burger factor / la Plage / la cucina / rock water / palm grove / delicious ...)

My partner and I with our small Shitzu stayed at Sur La Mer during the lockdown and it was one of the best stays I’ve had! I’d stayed here about 10 years ago and it’s still got the charm! It’s not like a hotel, more like style staying at a friends villa and that’s because the owner, Raju makes you feel as though you are staying in his home.
The staff are so welcoming and nothing is a problem; whatever you feel like eating, the chef, Kumar will do his utmost to cater for you and then there is BK; he’s like having your own personal Man Friday and he took such great care of us and our dog!
The place is super clean and hygienic and the bedrooms and bathrooms are fabulous!
The best part though is Raju, his energy and enthusiasm for life is infectious and every evening he sits at his bar and entertains with his stories and his fabulous singing! It’s was sad to leave as we felt like we were home!
The beach is a hop skip away however we used the pool which was spotless and cleaned every evening.
The food... well let’s just say I gained a few kilos!! The food was absolutely outstanding and Raju made sure that it was cooked to perfection and was very involved with the chef!
I can’t recommend this place highly enough, it’s a true gem!!
Thank you to everyone at the fabulous Sur La Mer!!!

Suggested by a friend to us, we planned a stay at Sur La Mer, Morjim, and we were so happy we took his advice. The place is beautiful and what caught my attention were the huge size movie posters all across the place. Being a movie buff myself, i felt like i belonged there. The approach to this place is a little strange, a little tough to find you can say but then after having stayed there we realized it is a positive, as it keeps you away from all the noise. The rooms are big and so tastefully done, there is no kanjoosi in space here, they have a big balcony/terrace space outside for you as well. We got the Maharaja Suite and we totally loved the ladder and the extra room space we got with this room. The food was YUM. And the entire credit goes to the most amazing host Mr. Raju Verman. Being a chef himself, he signs off all the recipes before they are added to the menu. And sometimes we can also have the privilege of ordering things off the menu, (somethings that are done just for fellow Lucknowites ;). The food and all the interesting stories that he has to share with you makes you feel so good.
The staff are extremely courteous and they resolve all your issues immediately. BK and Tani at the reception were our go to people for every thing, and they have been extremely patient. Very very accomodating to all your requests, unlike most of the hotels we have visited.
I can only say that you should not just plan a trip to Goa, but plan a trip to Sur La Mer.

Stayed for 2 nights. This is not a beach property.
Overall would suggest look for another property like Palm beach Grove or few others. Had much more expectation from Sur La Mer considering the Money charged/spent.

The good
1) Room service was prompt whenever called
2) The waiter at the restaurant was very nice and helpful and does try to make your stay comfortable
3) Overall a good looking property. Yellow walls with a swimming pool in the center. Has a Rustic feel to it.
4) Rooms are spacious and clean. Stayed in the Maharaja room.
5) Pool is clean and well maintained. You can swim as late as Midnight.
6) Breakfast is available till late even 12 pm. Breakfast was nothing great and average but cooked fresh.

The Bad
1) Horrible approach to the hotel. The road leading to the hotel is very narrow and full of rocks and bumps
2) Parking is a major issue at this hotel. Very limited slots and you have to leave your keys at the receptions since they have to keep moving your car in/out for others to accommodate
3) The owner Mr. Aneel was also staying at the property during our stay but was least bothered to even meet his guest. In todays world of hospitality i would consider this as a very COLD approach. No one wants a golden carpet but just some way to make your guest feel welcome. Don't think it makes a difference to the owners what the guest think.
4) The reception is not manned at all times. Usually comes in at 09 am only and after 10 pm disappears
5) AC in the room does not cool and is too small for the room size. We had kept the temperature at 16 C but it was 25 C and had to have the fans running
6) Had one dinner at the resort - Food was well cooked but expensive. We had to wait 1.5 hours to get food which is too long. Food is cooked fresh. Guest should be informed to place orders in advance in case food preparation takes time
7) The Maharaja rooms has an artic (I think all rooms do) with a bed but no fan or AC is provided, so this space is really of no use since it is extremely hot to stay up.
8) The Maharaja room had an outside sitting area but really can't make much use of it because it is full of mosquitoes. The hotel is surrounded with bushes/trees.

In general
1) Visit S2 Beach shack, Palm Grove beach shack and Tomato's beach shack which are all great options.
2) Arambol market area is good for shopping in case interested and 20 mins from the hotel.

I've had the pleasure of staying at Sur la Mer on many occasions and visiting on numerous more, sometimes with my child and otherwise, solo. Each of my visits has been as memorable as the next. The rooms are organized around a glorious pool, where one can (and I have) spend many lazy days sipping on cocktails or wines and dipping into their delicious menu, while enjoying the cool water on sunny Goan days. Inside the rooms, the space is airy and large with all the luxuries and mod cons; the en-suite bathrooms are practically as large as the rooms themselves! At night the property is magically lit up, and I've enjoyed many delicious dinners on their lawn at candle-lit tables. The food here is probably one my favorite in Goa. Raju, the gracious and most charming host, often flies in delicacies from far corners of India and beyond, that he is more than happy to share with his guests. On the second floor, the sea view is stunning, while the penthouse and a newly built treehouse make for the most luxurious and unique stays (I've had the fortunate to have been to both). As charming as the place is, the biggest draw here however is Raju, who always goes out of his way, at every one of my visits, to ensure me the most comfortable and memorable stay. I always recommend this place to my friends visiting the area, as I do to anyone reading this now. It's as fantastic for staying with kids and family as traveling alone or with friends. A must!

This Hotel is an absolute "Must Stay" if you are visiting GOA.
The Owners are a delight to be around.
The rooms are spacious and very well kept, and the best part is that you feel at home when at Sur La Mer
Don't miss the delicious cuisine served here, and if you are LUCKY ask Raju Verman (Owner) to cook something for you as he is master chef material :)
Hang at the Bar and be entertained...
5 stars for this one !

One should expect large and comfortable rooms with nice sit out overlooking the swimming pool, the absence of a nightclub and the distance from the road means one can listen to birdsong without any unpleasant intrusive loud noise. Our host, Anil, has curated an excellent menu, of which he is justifiably proud. The staff are very attentive and responsive making this a wonderful place to experience Goa!

We stayed for 4N/5D at pool facing room at Sur La Mer in mid Oct. This was our first stay here and all previous stays in Goa have been at large resorts (Alila Diwa, Hyatt, Planet Hollywood etc). We wanted to stay in North goa and this place had great reviews hence we booked directly with the owner.

Pros:-
1. The rooms are spacious and tastefully done
2. Each room has its verandah and sitting place where food is served. Gives you alot of space to spend time with your family
3. Food quality is excellent and service levels are outstanding.
4. No buffet breakfast or lunch/ dinner but you can choose from a reasonable list of options. Breakfast is available till late and is served in your verandah
5. The owner stays at the premises and is quite friendly and warm
6. We ate out a lot and many good restaurants are around in Ashwem, Morjim etc. We hired 2 scooters from the resort staff only.

Cons:-
1. The place has limited options to keep kids occupied (versus large resorts which have kids rooms etc) so be prepared to spend time on your own
2. The approach road is non existent and thats a big issue. Driving a scooter for the last 300 mt was a pain
3. Bathroom and toilet is open without doors. Not a nuisance but can be a bother to some.
4. This is not a beachfront property. Beach is a good ~2+ km ride away.

We enjoyed our stay esp in the covid times because we had a large personal space. The spacious rooms and large sitting area was god send.

All in all i would rate this a 4.5* and would love to come back again.

Raju and Nayan are wonderful hosts and personally ensure all guests are looked after. Where all details are looked into minutely and warmly with a lot of love. I've been coming here for fourteen years and everytime I feel more and more content. The Sur La Mer experience is an extraordinary one- The Filo Pastry, Alio Olio Spaghetti, Fish in lemon & White Wine Sauce, Butter Chicken, Dal Bukhara & Mirchi Paratha here are absolutely divine.
The staff is so caring and hospitable & the presence of Marlyn and Sunday complete the homely feeling.
Stay Blessed!

My husband, little daughter and I, stayed in Sur La Mer in February 2021 for 7 days and went back in February 2022 for almost 2 weeks. We love the layout of the hotel, the rooms are around a lovely big pool and right outside the rooms are these lovely verandah type seating areas where you can just sit and relax and have your meals. We loved it as we also went with family and friends so we got to be together. This also allowed us to meet such interesting people at the hotel. We stayed on the ground floor as our daughter loved running around when she was not in the pool. They have a badminton court, table tennis, darts and a pool table. The location of the hotel is amazing. It is a short walk to Morjim beach that has our favourite beach shacks and sunset spot like, La Plage, Palm grove, Ambers, Gopals, etc. Many lovely restaurants close by along with supermarkets. The rooms are more spacious than your standard hotel room. Very well maintained. The owners of the hotel, Raju and Nayan, stay on the property and go above and beyond to accommodate any requests. A few times a week, Raju and Nayan come out to the bar in the lawn and socialise with hotel guests and friends and it truly adds to the amazing ambience of Sur La Mer. On my birthday, they arranged for two birthday cakes, they put balloons and a banner up and helped bring my birthday in. Raju also popped a bottle of Champagne for me. A truly warm and lovely night and a great birthday night. Another reason we loved it was that the food was out of the world. The Indian, Chines, Steak and Continental - all were excellent. Every staff member I encountered, from the check- in to the cleaning staff , to the bearers, they all were delightful and eager to help. No request was turned down. I highly recommend this hotel to families, couples or just a group of friends. It caters to all age groups and there is something for everyone. I look forward to going back with my family!

Do your gorgous beds have mosquito nets? Many Thanks
Answer from Deividas R

Hi, there were no mosquito nets, but we did't need them, because the hotel placed antimosquito candles every evening infront the doors. Maybe because of them or maybe because of the season but there were no mosquitos during our stay. Also I believe if you'll ask that mosquito net the hotel staff will get it. The staff and the owner of the hotel were very warm, openminded and helpful in every our step. Have a nice trip and wonderful stay. All the best. Deividas
