We have enjoyed a week at the Royal Pita Maha in Ubud and we want to highlight, above all the delicious things, the professionals who work there.
We want to thank the Manager of the resort, I Dewa Made Arimbawa, who made us feel very comfortable, as well as all the professionals who treated us for their great treatment and disposition (chef manager, restaurant waitresses, Spa masseuses, receptionists, cleaning team the rooms, gardeners), everyone made our stay unforgettable, so from here we want to thank them for their wonderful work and professionalism.

They tried to make our stay perfect and did not hesitate to ask us what we needed or if there was anything they could help us with to make our stay magical and unforgettable.

The villa was impeccable, located in a lush forest environment, overlooking the river and with a delicious pool for our enjoyment. Perhaps what we liked least were the amenities but otherwise, the room was always clean, water in the refrigerator, after doing the "house keeping" always new towels and everything picked up.

From the first day we had the opportunity to speak with the Executive chef, Widana,  We wanted to enjoy the most typical Balinese food ; as  we were going to stay for 1 week, he designed several menus for us; where every day we could enjoy the different dishes created by him. We want to thank you from here for being so understanding and kind. We were lucky enough to share a "tablecloth" with him and we were captivated by his great personality.

We would like to thank all the staff at the Royal Pita Maha for their great kindness and generosity in treating us and making us feel very comfortable.

Thank you allí 🏡

This hotel is absolutely stunning! It runs down two mountain sides to a river that adds to the ambience in the valley. Pure getaway, very private villas, super views, great food (both choice and quality) plus the staff were excellent. I fell and sprained my ankle today whilst checking out- Ayu was there almost immediately and with seemingly magic ointments and actions, my rapid swelling and panic came down very quickly- allowing me to continue with our planned day ahead with no problems. Thank you so much guys, really, your set up is absolutely top drawer and something I will never forget and will rec9mend to everybody! Till the next time ;)

You don't need a very long review - many of the great features of this hotel have been mentioned in the many reviews before.
We spent our Christmas holidays in the Royal Pita Maha and just want to thank the staff for making this holiday a very special one. Whenever we come back to Bali it will most certainly be this hotel because it offers space, luxury and friendliness.

I am so sorry that I didn’t read these reviews before I booked, and I am amazed at some of the reviews that rate this place high.

Whilst the setting and surrounding nature of the property is beautiful, it does not make up for everything else.

The food is terrible and overpriced considering the quality and taste. There were bugs/flies flying around the food during breakfast, not to mention the selection is quite average and more what you would expect at a 3 star resort.

The first room I was given, the door to the villa did not close properly so security was a concern. In addition, there are gaps on all of the doors, meaning it is very easy for little creatures to enter the villa. If you’re not comfortable with small creatures like lizards (which are all over the property/Bali) you will not enjoy this property. I asked to be moved to another room where the front door closed properly – this was not a problem and I was moved very soon after my request.

As others have said, the property is quite old and has not been well maintained. In the bathroom basin after brushing my teeth, the water took approx. 10 minutes to go down; the shower was dirty; the sheets had an awful smell; the mosquito net that covered the bed was visibly dirty; the pool wasn’t well cleaned. I have seen the comments from the property mentioning that they try their best to keep the property clean, but unfortunately, all evidence to the contrary.

At night I could hear “something” perhaps a lizard (not a small one) moving around in the ceiling, and each night it would wake me up because it would make noises during the night. While I completely understand that we are surrounded by the jungle, I don’t expect to have lizards larger than a gecko in my room. I stayed at 2 other resorts in Ubud (Padma Ubud and Hoshinoya) as part of the same trip, also surrounded by the jungle and did not encounter any creatures in my room. Speaking of lizards, when I was exploring the property on the second day, I went to view the natural spring pool. I came across a massive lizard. I’m not one to exaggerate so when I say massive, I mean massive but to clarify, it was not a Komodo lizard. When we saw each other, it ran left and I ran right!!

I ended up leaving after 2 nights even though I was meant to stay for 3. The staff did not even ask why I was checking out early, it’s almost as if they are used to it.

For your money Padma Ubud is far superior in terms of quality of food, value for money, and cleanliness.

(Stayed during August 2022)

Dear Ms. Talitha, Warmest greeting from The Royal Pita Maha Resort Ubud Bali - Royal Luxury Thank you for posting a review on TripAdvisor. I noticed on your comments that we have failed in meeting your expectations. In the name of the entire team I would like to express my most sincere regrets, and we take your feedback very serious. In related to the animal, please be noted that our resort is built in traditional Balinese architecture on the valley landscape, where natural environment is become one of our unique selling points. Gecko/lizard is part the nature in the tropical area and we can easily find it in Bali. However, Geckos are non-venomous and not harmful to humans. Once again, thank you and we really appreciate your feedback. We hope you do give us the chance to make it right. Best regards Dewi

The Royal Pita Maha provides such a luxury decorations. The concepts are about Angels, so guests will see so many Angel sculptures around the hotel and restaurant areas.

The reservations are easy to make, and very responsive staffs to deal with. The front desk officers are very friendly and nice, but they are not yet professional staffs. The sculptures around the lobby area are massive and very unique. However, due to pandemic, the hotels have to turn off the lights in some areas. Our rooms are located below the lobby area. And we have to walk blindly in the dark area for about 2 minutes (it used to be the bar area perhaps) to get to the rooms. We spoke to the staffs to turn on the lights because it is freaking black pitch, but I guess they are cutting budget on the electricity bill due to pandemic.

The rooms are spacious with private pool for each room. However, it is just too bad that it has lack of maintenance given the bad presentations of the ceiling in the bathroom and the dusts in the cupboard area and couch area. Don't get panicked if you find some bugs or reptiles (i got frog and some worms) with some poops inside the rooms. It would be perfect if the management of the hotel start thinking to do some renovations or some maintenance for hotels area.

Unfortunately The Royal Pita Maha is simply not a 5 star resort as they advertise. While the resort does have great jungle views it comes up short in service, cleanliness, updates, and food. The rooms show a large amount of wear and tear. The lack of care has caused cracks that frogs and lizards are able to get into the villa from. While you are in the jungle and should expect some level of animals, each evening we had multiple frogs and lizards even though we kept our doors closed.

The service was very rude and unfriendly, including a member of the team rudely commenting on where we are from. You are provided 4 small water bottles per room per day and we were informed if we requested more than 4 additional we would be charged extra. We decided to then try the water that was in the lobby but immediately upon drinking we were both extremely sick for multiple days.

I would not recommend this hotel. There are much friendly and more upgraded hotels for the price.

When I saw this hotel on the internet, I was sure my next trip would be to Bali and I wouldn't stay anywhere else. Turned out to be a good choice.
Royal Pita maha has only private pool villas overlooking the green hills and forest. Hence, you have complete privacy. Also, this hotel is very quiet so your stay can be very romantic.
The room size as well as the pool size is quite big and very pretty! The bathroom fixtures, linen etc are all up to date and well maintained so needn't worry on that front.

This is a multi level hotel so you might have to walk down different paths to go to the breakfast restaurant, the river, the wishing pond and to the main pool.
This was fun and we got to explore the whole hotel this way.

The main pool next to the river is the most beautiful pool that I have seen! It was like swimming in a river in the middle of the mountains...so calm, serene and scenic!

Since we were honeymooning there, loved the hotel's gesture of decorating our bed with rose petals, gifting us a cake and a back present with our names etched on it.

Highly recommend this hotel!

The Hotel is spread across a tropical hillside. Wellness villas at the bottom of the property, private villas across the hillside. The property is bordered by a natural river, and insider the property is a man made river perfect for swimming. Each villa is self-contained and magnificent and private. The restaurant down by the river serves delicious healthy food, and the food generally is very good. The Hotel offers regular free shuttle buses into town, a perfect place to stay and relax and indulge.

My parents and husband and my kids we only made use of the day pass access at Royal Pita Maha.
We could make use of the three resort pools and enjoyed lunch at the Ayung river there. The food was nothing special but the views worth the visit.
Fantastic location, breathtaking views, Mrs Ayu - best staff I have seen in ubud, Very happy, energetic, helpful, friendly and funny too. Thank you for making our day at Royal Pita Maha a special one besides the pouring rain :(
Ended up having dinner at the Dewata lounge which was very relaxing and enjoyable even though food not as tasty as at other places that we experienced.
Next time I would have a drink there but not necessarily food. Worth the atmosphere.
