The property is beautiful but understated. A lot of reviewers seem to expect more over the top flash - if you want that the Bulgari in Uluwatu is a better choice. The villas are very large and private. At most hotels in Bali something will go wrong and the staff will fix it - but nothing goes wrong at the Amandari. The service is so good you don't notice how easy it is - you never have to wait for a bill to sign or for the car to show up. Breakfast at the restaurant is fantastic. Dinner is not quite as good, frankly, but the hotel had very few guests when we were there so that might explain why. The property is also respectful of Balinese tradition - most places either ignore it or turn it into kitsch; the Amandari threads this needle perfectly.
Lunch on terrace Great view on pool Pizza expensive and not good. Fish just ok. Not happy I am not sure to go there anymore. Access is really hard, poor road dirty. Environment is great but nothing else. Feel sorry to go there buy that's it. 6/10 is my final number
I am beyond shocked that I must write this review as I had the highest expectations for this property as I have recently stayed at Amankila. But this experience felt nothing short of a scam. From the driver asking for a tip before arrival, to the front desk staff forget to include a credit to my bill. I never would’ve imagine such great disappointment. They write in the bill in handwriting to scam you. This property does not have spa as they solicit. I have visited four season sayana and ritz madapa and those are real spas. The icying on the cake was when they informed that i would unable to play tennis due to hotel was closing early due to lack of guest. As a paying client that should minimize my experience. Ive been in Bali for a while and this is the first time i feel ive been scamed. The first time someone has charged my card not in my presence in my entire time in Bali. This will be reported. You can review my positive review of Amankila for context.…
I did not give the resort a 5 star because it is an acquired taste, it is the type of place where you either love it or hate it! It is a mystical hotel where you are being transported back into time, back when Western tourist started visiting Bali and seeing for the first time the beauty of Bali. 1) I stayed in the Valley suite and the balcony is actually special, it really feels like you are staying in an idyllic Balinese village, the only difference is that the villa is luxurious and opulent! 2) The service is friendly and excellent! Rooms are cleaned once you leave the room and there is a free refill of water. There is no need for you to go to the mini-mart to buy bottled water. 3) The idea of hearing Balinese music inside a very empty resort is a mesmerizing experience. Usually, resorts save money by only employing musicians when they are crowded, but not Amandari. 4) I love relaxing at the restaurant while eating breakfast, I spent more than 1 hour there without ever getting bored! 5) The resort has a very rustic feel since it was built back in the 1990s. It looks dilapidated at first sight, but it actually brings magic to the place. 6) It is a very spiritual resort which adds to the magic to the place! If you are looking for a wonderful and bizzare experience, I would recommend the resort, but if you are looking for a beach club and modern building stay away! This is my first Aman experience and looking forward to another stay at Amandari or Amanjiwo, probably by myself this time since I find difficult to find people to actually want to stay there with me!…
My husband and I loved Amandari (even more than Amankila). We stayed at the duplex Pool Suite and wow, its such a beautiful room. You need to see it yourself to understand how incredibly stunning it is. This is Aman, so the rooms are also clean and spacious. The staff are so kind, genuine, and accommodating. Beautiful people. During this pandemic, we can tell that they are struggling but they still do their very best to cater to all your needs and whims. They also have a private driver to take you anywhere within Ubud. Amazing amazing amazing place. Would recommend wholeheartedly for those of you who love authentic, understated luxury.
It was amazing 4D3N stay for us on June 2021. We stayed at Pool Duplex Villa that Kim was staying in 2019. Everything about the design was wonderful. I like every details ans touch in the room. The resort manager was also attentive and friendly to us. She made sure that we were feeling warmed during our stay. In addition, we were also like our Megibung dinner - definitely we wil come back again!
I had one of the beautiful plunge pool suites overlooking the valley. The freestanding bungalow is incredibly well thought out. There was a lovely sitting and dining area downstairs with a bathroom and dressing area, then a secluded bedroom upstairs. The bedroom felt like it was up in the canopy of the trees and had beautifully crafted details. The downstairs area flowed naturally into the enclosed courtyard with stairs seamlessly leading out of the living room and into the deep green plunge pool. The garden was established and verdant, with fragrant frangipanis and other tropical plants. It was private but had a beautiful view over the lush hills. The staff were incredibly attentive and lovely. At one point, I mentioned that I was going to have a bath later in the evening while on my way to dinner and arrived back to find dozens of candles arranged around the bath, which had been drawn as I was departing dinner, and scattered with frangipani flowers. I was aware before I came that the resort was built 30 years ago, but it felt timeless. Almost as though it had grown into its surrounds. That is the benefit of such excellent and timeless design.…
The service is phenomenal, and the room is cleaned three times a day, which is the best service in the Aman hotels. The breakfast is good, room is massive. The hotel is very suitable for spiritual practice, not the type of hotel for family and children.
The service is very attentive, and the room is cleaned three times a day, which is the best service in the Aman series. Good breakfast! Very soft and comfortable beds. At the same time, the local culture is very good. The implantation of local traditional music and dance is a rich experience and a strong sense of participation. Probably not the best resort for families, I feel like it’s for those who like to vent, privacy and quality, it is the best choice in Bali.
A last minute change in travel plans found us in Amandari. For teo nights, It became our home away from home, peaceful and magical, in the center of Ubud, amid the rice fields and along the river. The Indonesian food was superb. The staff was not only helpful and friendly but also very kind and warm, both Aman signatures. The afternoon rain was calm and good for meditation. The evenings were quiet. And every night, we were treated to a Tiger Tale where we learned something about Balinese culture. Amandari is true to its name, peaceful spirit. You never want to leave.
