We have been getting together as a family on the first sunday of december for many years and we have never found a better venue - amazing price for 3 course christmas lunch, free private room all beautifully decorated, really lovely food with lots of choices and the best service we have ever received. Many thanks to Rhiannon for helping organise and for Tom and his team for exceptional service - we will definetely be rebooking!
Thank Gavin B

This was a busy place but well run, mainly a golfing hotel but caters well for everyone. Staff were very efficient & professional and the room we stayed in was in good condition. Wi fi was a bit hit & miss but we were staying on the lower ground floor. Comfortable bed, great nights sleep & a lovely breakfast in the morning with plenty of choice.
Thank Doc

when I arrived they didn't have my booking even though I had an email receipt confirming booking, the hotel looks like a 5 star when you first walk in then you get sent to your room and boom its like the 80's two singles put together there was a hole in the wall another wall looked like the table had it that many times the plaster was coming away the TV remote wouldn't work unless on top of TV as the surround covers the signal the table lamp didn't work either. the food in the bar was excellent and served very quickly, breakfast was great once they let me in as they didn't have my name down due to not having a booking!! I wouldn't rush back here last time I visited this area was a different hotel that was amazing so I guess I will go back there.
Thank steve33allen

Dear Steve Many thanks for your feedback, its great that you speak so highly about certain aspects of your stay, particularly the food and the service, its a shame you felt your room let your stay down. Best wishes Ray

I stayed at this hotel with a work colleague and on walking into the bar I found that it resembled a Wetherspoons pub, mainly with multiple un cleared tables and a large area of the bar stacked with used empties. A 20 minute wait to get a pint. We left the bar to go to the restaurant only to be told there was only a buffet that resembled a low budget foreign all inclusive "cafe". So we went back to the bar for an overpriced bar meal. I had a burger that was dripping with grease and my colleague a child size portion of spag bol. All very disappointing. I won’t be staying here again.
Thank Iratecyclist

Dear iratecyclist Please accept my apologies that all was not as you would have liked, on occasions the bar can seem rather busy and the atmosphere is not to everyone's liking, i can assure you we shall use your feedback constructively to improve the service you were afforded, Best wishes Ray

I stayed at the De Vere Staverton Estate hotel for two nights in October for a mixture of business and leisure purposes. It was my first stay in a De Vere hotel so I was not too sure what to expect.

By request, I was allocated an accessible room on the ground floor (room 221). The bedroom part of the room, though showing moderate signs of wear, was very comfortable. However, the room was let down by the bathroom which was in serious need of a deep clean. I did in fact give the sides a bit of a wipe down myself as they looked as though they hadn’t seen a clean cloth for a few months!

There was complementary bottled water in the room and some chocolates on the pillow, which was an unexpected nice touch. There was ample wardrobe space, along with a hairdryer, safe, ironing board and a tea and coffee tray. The room did not have a mini-fridge.

I used many of the hotel’s amenities during my stay. On the morning of my arrival I was unable to check in straight away so I parked myself in the Burr & Co coffee area. This is basically an unattended coffee station where you can help yourself to complementary tea and coffee. There is some stylish but uncomfortable seating in the form of stools, plus a small number of tables. There was a good number of plug and USB sockets dotted around. As I found to be the case with many areas of the hotel, phone reception was poor which made making and receiving calls quite difficult. My work phone (Vodafone) seemed to get a weak but just about adequate reception, but my personal phone (Three) had no signal throughout the duration of my stay. The hotel’s WiFi was very good though.

Other common areas such as the bar and restaurant were very modern, nicely decorated and comfortably furnished. I stayed on a dinner bed and breakfast rate, but I also chose to have lunch in the bar area twice during my stay. The food was unexpectedly good and generally well priced, with the exception of a chicken Caesar salad which was bizarrely one of the most expensive items on the whole menu.

I also used the leisure facilities which are located in a separate building a short walk away from the main hotel building. The indoor swimming pool was nothing fancy, but it was heated and the jacuzzi was pleasant. There were also sauna and steam rooms, which I did not use. I had a couple of treatments at the spa which were lovely and very reasonably priced.

I must give a special mention to Tom from the pool. He very kindly offered to transport me back to the main hotel building on a couple of occasions via one of the golf buggies when he could see that I was suffering from mobility issues. I thought that was very thoughtful of him. Tom’s kindness was a good reflection of the hotel’s staff who I generally found to be very courteous and considerate. I was on crutches during the time of my visit and the staff were ever so helpful without me ever having to ask.
