This B&B is wonderful. I stayed three nights with my cousin in September in the Portraits de Famille suite. It is set in an historical Norman manor, beautifully restored. The artistic flair of both Monsieur and Madame Dubois is evident in touches everywhere. Monsieur Dubois is a professional designer. He has a studio in the garden and colouful outdoor chairs he has...

We have been looking for an ideal stopover en route to and from our place in France. The Manor is only a few kms from the motorway junction and settled in the centre of an ancient French town. The manor itself is not in large grounds and is a three sided 17th century (or around then!) property. Great for architecture...

We have stayed here a few times whilst passing through on our travels in France. Its always a pleasant experience, and the Madam owner is friendly cheerful and always welcoming. As the photos depict, its an old Manor with character. Loads of beams, squeaky stairs and lots & lots of wood beams & panelling. There's an annex which a little...

L'Engagiste is a 15th century house hidden away behind huge metal doors. Inside it is a delight benefiting from the artistic flair of the owners. The rooms are a good size with individual character. Watching the sun rise over the courtyard is memorable and everywhere are touches of artistry with incredible attention to detail. Breakfast in the morning, served in...

Le Manoir d'Engagiste is a magnificent 17th Century Normandy manor house which once belonged to the wealthy tax collector for the delightful Normandy town of Orbec. It is set in the centre of the twon which nestle beside the R Orbiquet. The manor itself surrounds a courtyard, most artistically furnsihed with comfortable sofas. chairs, tables and garden urns where one...

The manor house itself, where we stayed, is a wonderful old building set in its own courtyard and a small private garden. In a region packed with lovely buildings Le Manoir is a real find which has been, and continues to be, sensitively restored by its owners. Madame could not have been kinder or more welcoming. We were only there...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Once you have crossed the imposing porch, you will forget very quickly that this manor, charged with history, lies in the centre of Orbec. The well-sheltered interior courtyard, protected by high walls, where clematis and rosebushes flourish, and a lawn planted with apple trees, reflects the green fields of the bocage. 18 Th century woodwork or contemporary wood paneling enhances the rooms. The Manor's 18 th century wing can accommodate up to eight people, with its 3 bedrooms and bathrooms and its Suite. Each room offers a bathroom, toilet, slippers, a bathrobe and a hospitality tray. We provide double or separate beds upon request. On the ground floor a paneled lounge with a fireplace, dining room, equipped kitchen and a powder room. ... more   less
