We just came back from one week to Cap maison with our 3yo toddler. It was a dream..! The resort is located on a cliff, such a picturesque location & views of the sunset! We design is really authentic and with lots of character. We stayed at an ocean view room and it delivered 100%, very comfortable & spacious. The staff were all kind and very sweet to our kid. What we really loved was the food, everything we had was delicious, i cant stress that enough: the food was amazing, nothing like we had in other hotels we have stayed (the Cliff at Cap restaurant is considered to be the best in the island and rightly so). I would recommend to anyone who is seeking for a sleek, tasteful and elegant place to stay! I shouldn’t forget to comment on the Luxury car transfer (Affinity cars) booked for us by the hotel who went above & beyond to make our 1,5hr trip to/from the airport as comfy as possible! A very memorable trip and would recommend to anyone who wants to experience St Lucia island in all its beauty.…
The resort is in a beautiful setting overlooking the Caribbean Sea, Signal Peak and several coves. It sits on a cliff up from the beach, the grounds are well manicured with abundant vegetation as is most of the island, and there are nice vistas to view the gorgeous Caribbean sea, especially from the unit balconies,. Since the resort is small, it is relatively quiet. There are 92 steps down to the beach where the Naked Fisherman Restaurant is located and it's a rather easy stair climb. The beach is located in a cove and serviced by a full-time attendant. All staff members at the resort were very friendly and helpful, especially the concierge staff. The resort is rather remote and taxis must be used at a minimal cost to and from Rodney Bay, a 10 minute ride each way, the nearest commercial area. The remoteness and setting makes the minimal taxi expense worth it. Both restaurants at the resort are excellent. We were not on the all-inclusive meal/drinks plan but breakfast was included in our price. Breakfasts were bountiful with many selections to choose from and were served in the The Cliff at the Cap restaurant with gorgeous views overlooking the Caribbean and environs. We stayed in a 2 floor villa unit which was very spacious and comfortable with daily housekeeping service. The one television was located in the bedroom which meant laying in or sitting on the bed to watch. We much like to watch TV from a couch in the living room, which this unit had downstairs, but that's just our preference. We didn't decide to vacation in St. Lucia to view much TV anyway. We did dine at one of the 2 restaurants at the resort for 4 dinners with the lamb shank dinner at the Cliff restaurant and the seafood scampi dinner at the Naked Fisherman restaurant being the most memorable. We taxied into Rodney Bay for the other 3 dinners including the weekly Rodney Bay Street Party on Friday night. It's one of those experiences you must try once anyway to take in some local culture. We chose to vacation on the island of St. Lucia because it is scenic with its vegetation and mountains. Staying at Cap Maison Resort fulfilled our expectations!…
Loved this resort! This is the first time that I have written a review for any of our vacation spots, but both my husband and myself felt that this vacation was exceptional. We had a rooftop terrace unit and it was quite impressive. It was spacious, clean and well appointed with spectacular views from the balconies and the rooftop. The food at the Cliff and the Naked Fisherman was exceptional. We were on the Cap It All plan and I was concerned that we would become bored with just two restaurants over the period of time we were there, but that was not the case. With the number of choices and changes in the menu, we definitely did not get tired of the food. We had dinner on the Rock and in the Wine Cellar and both were fabulous. The staff were amazing. I won’t list names for fear of missing someone, but they were both friendly and helpful. Going on holidays is like life, there is never perfection but the few small things that came up were handled expeditiously and professionally by the staff. If you are looking to take long walks on the beach, this may not be the resort for you. If you want to relax, enjoy excellent meals with stunning views, this is a fabulous place. Can’t wait to go back.…
If you love food then this is the place to stay on the island! Breakfast, lunch and dinner were all unreal. I wish I could have stayed longer to make sure I tried all the options on the menu. All the staff were helpful and friendly, they couldn't do more for you. We had a pretty basic room but it was clean and we didn't spend much time in it to be honest. There are two pools and we used the courtyard pool in the afternoons as there was nobody else around it so it was really peaceful. We are proper beach lovers so I would say the beach wasn't the best. It's small and very shady after lunchtime (hence we used the pool), the steps weren't an issue though. The Naked Fisherman restaurant down there is amazing though for lunch or dinner. We had a couples massage during our stay and I would say it's the best massage I have ever had. We stayed over New Year and the whole evening was amazing, the only thing I wasn't keen on was the Lantern release. Most of them ended up in the sea or stuck on trees which is awful for the environment and quite unnecessary in my opinion.…
We had an amazing time here from the moment we stepped through the door we were made to feel most welcome. All the staff are friendly and efficient- nothing is too much trouble. A fault with the a pump meant the water pressure in our room was non-existent but this was repaired very promptly and apologies made. The gardens are beautiful and the buildings spaced out - we felt like house guests at a private villa. Food at both restaurants was excellent though breakfast service was a little slow when you have a sunlounger calling ! The sunloungers were the comfiest we’ve ever lain on as was the bed in our room. The room was delightful - beautiful decor and everything very well maintained. We took the bus transfer (nominal charge payable to the hotel) to the Friday night street party - everything ran smoothly and was very efficient. As some people have pointed out there are a lot of steps (92) down to the beach and The Naked Fisherman Restaurant but these were not too difficult - though we only tackled them once each day ! We absolutely loved our time here and cannot recommend it highly enough…
The hotel is stunning . We were concerned about the comments about the steps down to the beach but they are relatively easy and there is a bench half way if you need a rest . The beach is small however there are plenty of beds . It is in the shade for most of the day but you can always sit by the waters edge if you want to be in the sun all day . Good snorkelling and paddleboarding from the beach . The Naked fisherman is great for a light lunch . Our room was room 50 which was over two floors with the most amazing room terrace and private plunge pool - a real wow factor . At first the kitchen decor looked dated but we realised all the rooms were like that . The hotel is quite remote so you cannot walk places but you can easily get a taxi to outside areas to explore , but trust me you will not be able to beat the food at The Cliff! We went half board and could not believe the outstanding quality of the food - breakfast was good but dinner was fabulous . A huge shout out to Craig and his team . You do not have to drink Evian water - tap water is fine . The wine list probably could be updated - a few vintages that were questionable - I assume it just needed updating . Some wines were not available - however there was plenty of choice so I am sure there will be something to your taste . Lots of mosquitoes so make sure take repellent . A particularly good place for couples .…
A wonderful property. First class accommodations, food, service, staff, everything. Food was great, breakfast in the morning overlooking the ocean was stunning. Yes, it is more than 90 steps down to the water, but it is well worth it to enjoy a very private beach, excellent food at the Naked Fisherman, kayaking, relaxing, sitting in the shade or sun, it is simply a place to relax and enjoy. Lots of options for rooms, day excursions, etc, I really can't find anything negative to say about the place. My wife and I really enjoyed it. In reality, for what you get, including the cost of meals, it is less than similar properties on other islands.
Firstly this hotel is in a stunning location on the northern tip of the island. Gorgeous views and stunning sunsets from the rooftop of our suite. Our Ocean view suite with hot tub was amazing laid out over 3 floors with the most lovely rooftop space for relaxation and sunset views. The food at The Cliff restaurant is excellent with a different menu every night all beautifully served . The wine by the glass is very ordinary so it is worth having a bottle on some evenings. There is gentle live music which we enjoyed. The Naked Fisherman beach bar is also very good and a more casual atmosphere but the menu is the same for lunch and dinner every day. There is extremely limited snack or light food on offer at either restaurant at lunchtime . Staff on the whole are good particularly the waiting staff in both restaurants who were extremely helpful and friendly. The resort is isolated so may be worth thinking about hiring a car to see the locality. Be aware roads in St Lucia are very twisty and narrow and need some negotiation. Taxis are reported to be very expensive (we did not hire one ) Transfer from the airport by car is 1 and 1/2 to 2hours over very twisty roads and if you suffer from car sickness it is worth taking something. Overall it is a lovely place to wind down and relax. Some points to consider: If on b&b or half board you pay for all beverages and this includes water in the room except at bedtime When staying in hotels of a similar standard elsewhere water has always been complimentary even if it is bottles of cool tap water. Water on the beach was provided free. The beach is extremely small and there was a lot of seaweed and possible jellyfish and during our stay we could not swim in the sea. Staff on the beach were very friendly and helpful with loungers towels etc. Be aware it is over 90 steps to get down there. The swimming pools in the hotel are tiny and if like me you like to swim they are just far too small. The hotel does not provide any activities though there is a hiking club. If mosquitoes like you - you will need a deet based insect repellent. The approach of some staff does leave you feeling you have been a bit of a nuisance or even done something wrong! We experienced this in reception when we asked for swimming towels as there were none by the pools. Also we turned up 5 minutes early for breakfast as we had a tour booked and were most definitely put in our place as we had not followed hotel procedure for an early breakfast I felt like a child being reprimanded for bad behaviour! it might be a good idea to include this information on the info sheet in the room so guests know what to do. There are no bar nibbles provided with any pre-dinner drinks and getting a pre dinner drink can be a bit hit and miss. We were studiously ignored on one occasion and had to collar a passing waitress to get any service. This is my 7th trip to the Caribbean and compared to other resorts my view is this just misses the mark sometimes - excelling in some areas but not so good in others. With a few tweaks this had the potential to be an outstanding hotel destination. But we left feeling it could be better.…
Cap Maison was the second half of our recent 10-day St Lucia holiday. We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves (my wife and I, our kids aged 14 and 11). We drove up from Castries after getting a private boat transfer that far (Hackshaws - I've reviewed them also) from our first hotel down by the Pitons. Traffic terrible, roads pretty bad (by UK standards) - not the best way to arrive. Things improved when we were received by reception - courteous and efficient service. Very professional and what we expected/hoped for. We had a big problem on arrival and I'll get it out of the way early - the room we were put in was NOT what we had booked. We booked a 2-bed ocean view villa with private pool. What we got was a 2-bed hotel suite with a rooftop pool. There was an ocean view if you stood by the 6-foot high wall surrounding the roof terrace (your view from the sun loungers) and peered over and ignored the roof of the plant room directly in front. The pool was a plunge pool - OK, that's a pool, if we're being pedantic, but it's not what's advertised on the website. We complained pretty strenuously and did finally get moved the next day - into a room which was exactly what we had booked and what we were expecting. I'm not sure I've been in a better hotel room - a glorious sea view and a lovely private pool and spacious interior (it was room 12/14). But WHY did we have to complain before getting what we'd arranged prior to arrival (and paid for, I almost hesitate to add)? We had to spend a night in the unsuitable room, for which we received no apology and no compensation. That's 20% of the nights we spend in Cap Maison - unable to unpack or relax - my wife was very upset as she had spent a lot of time arranging this holiday for celebrating her 50th birthday. Food - excellent - much better than we experienced in our previous hotel. You really could tell the difference in quality. We ate at both The Naked Fisherman and The Cliff and both gave the experience they aimed for (one very relaxed, one more formal) - lovely to have the 2 choices and both had excellent views and atmosphere. Restaurant service was too slow, though. I don't want to rush meals but this was sloooooowwwww. Waits between courses were far too long. A couple of times I had to re-choose wine because they didn't have what I wanted from the list. And once (at The Cliff) they brought me a 2019 vintage when I'd ordered a 2010 - I don't expect that to happen at somewhere of this quality. Service - really good on the whole. A cut above the other hotel we stayed at on the island.…
We spent 9-days at Cap Maison…family included three “adult kids” 18 - 20 - 23 years old…villas 5-6-7 were the perfect setting with beautiful views, private plunge pool and just steps from the The Cliff at Cap and larger pool. We loved the people, from concierge to the waiters and waitresses, to the team that cleaned the villa and provided turn down service each evening…everyone was friendly, helpful and made the vacation that much better…including stockings on our door Christmas Eve. We also enjoyed meals at the Naked Fisherman…great spot right on the beach…the BBQ on Wednesday was especially great and fun evening. The Cliff at Cap is a great restaurant…we enjoyed breakfast, lunch at the pool and dinner most evenings (also some dinners at Naked Fisherman) and all of it was excellent. The dinner menu was different every evening and the food was great…our family loves great food and this hit the mark. Also, the excursions were so much fun…we did a private deep sea fishing day (had a blue marlin hooked but broke the line), took private catamaran (Carnival) to Soufriee (spelling) and did mud baths, waterfall and snorkeling…this was around 7-8 hour trip with food and drinks (best day of trip), and the last excursion, we hiked the Gros Piton including a local lunch that was great as well (all local Lucian specialties)…think the local place was called Marie’s in Soufriee…definitely stop by if you are in the area. Just FYI - hiking to the top is some work…we exercise regularly and definitely needed to be fit to make it all the way to top…there are options to turn around throughout but the view from the top is amazing…spend some time on elevated treadmill or walking up hills before you arrive if you want to make it to the top. In summary, highly recommend Cap Maison…great boutique resort, love people, food, service, views…we will definitely be back!…
