We stayed here for two nights as we were attending a friends birthday party 5 miles away. I like to do a lot of homework before I travel as I am so fussy and need the right room, food and vibe, anyway, I honed in on The George. We had an 8 hour journey due to problems on motorway but when...

We had our wedding day here and it was brilliant! We got married under their wooden gazebo in the garden, they have a license, and then we spent the rest of the day there. The buffet lunch was delicious and very generous and nothing was too much trouble for e staff. The rooms are all very individual and characterful and...

Lovely place. The room my daughter and I stayed in was a unique mix of olde world charm and quirkiness with an old fashioned barber's chair in the corner of the room. Mix that with a beautiful ultra modern bathroom and big shower followed by a traditional English breakfast our overnight stay was a great experience.

Straight away you realise what an amazing, quirky and different place this is! Great welcome, very friendly locals and Laura, the Manageress working extremely hard with all her team to make your stay both memorable and enjoyable. The bar area is just amazing. It was my partners birthday and he is a massive cider fan I chose this hotel and cannot fault it! The service was amazing everyone was so helpful and friendly. The food was out of this world and well worth the money, we went to Wilkins cider farm ( the best cider I have ever tasted!)and only a 5 minute...

Stayed for one night and went back! Loved the unqiue feel of the George with its plastered walls, huge roaring fires, choice of cosy rooms to eat or drink in lit by candles. Delightfully unique. The lower bar has wood burning stove and sofas. All of the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. The breakfast cooked to order was fantastic...

Many thanks for your review. Were very pleased you enjoyed your stay with us. As we are a historic listed building we can't use double glazing but normally the road isn't too noisy. Thanks.

6 of us visited for a family meal on a Friday evening. Even though the premises were busy, we did not in any way feel that this had a negative effect on the service or food. The hotel/restaurant offers exactly what the owners aim to deliver. We loved it and will definitely return. Thank you George Hotel for an indulgent,...

I was one of 14 of a U3A group exploring local villages. They opened up early so we could have coffee at 10.30 before we started our walk. The George is a 15th century old coaching in and Judge Jefferies held his assizes there. and there is a report of a ghost on the premises. After walking round the village...
