Staying on our cycle tour to Vienna. The welcome was great: introduced by name and "please, have a drink". After 60kms of cycling what a great intro to the place! None of the usual Austrian formalities here - just a warm welcome. Must be due to the influence of a couple years living in Australia!

After a very hot ride along the Danube it was heaven to be welcomed with a homemade herb & lemon drink. We ate homemade and different (no schnitzels tonight) food in the garden under the trees. The swimming lake nearby was a godsend.

We stayed at this hotel while cycling from Passau to Vienna. We loved it for many reasons. It's just outside of the town's main historic gate. Gorgeous outdoor garden. We ate our dinner outside (do not miss this experience). Everything was hausgemacht and delicious! We loved the stuffed chicken and desserts. Breakfast is also excellent. Staff is extremely friendly. Nibelungenhof was a wonderful stop along the way as we cycled to Vienna. The rooms were clean albeit a bit old-fashioned. The dinner and breakfast were superb. The hostess was friendly and welcoming. We ate our dinner outside in the beer garden. It was quite pleasant.

We stayed here one night as part of an organised cycle ride from Passau to Vienna. The staff, whom I believe are also the owners, were exceptionally friendly warm and welcoming. The food showcased local dishes and each course was excellent. Drinks were reasonably priced. Rooms were clean if basic. Arguably that is all one needs for a one night...

Wonderful Gasthof with incredibly friendly staff. We stayed here as part of our cycle ride from Passau to Vienna. Initially we were sorry not to be in Krems, which the travel company seemed to advertise as first choice. Krems was apparently full, so we were bumped down to the road to Traismauer. I'm very glad we were "bumped", as this...

After 70k on the Donauweg we were welcomed with a glass of homemade lemonade. We loved the high standard of the cooking and the interesting regional dishes. The atmosphere in the beer garden was also very friendly. Whilst the room decor was a little old fashioned the rooms were clean and comfy. We had a hearty home cooked breakfast and...

Very nice place to stop, particularly if cycling on the Danube Way. It is only a few kilometres qfrom the Danube Way and is in a nice historic town. The Gastof is very nice and people are very friendly with a nice restaurant. Parking is available for cars and bicycles.

“I'd ask for a room at the back of the hotel, overlooking the garden and NOT at the front, overlooking the road.”
