Pleasant hosts. Room needs updating as far as soft furnishings go and also sanitary ware in en suite. Deep clean needed in both en suite and bedroom. Then look upwards..... incredible amount of dust and intricate cobwebs on guest room rafters. Breakfast ok as long as you want the English, but anything other than that is a bit unimaginative -...

The last time I visited was 2 years ago and I had a lovely stay. Back in town again for a few days and with high expectations...As ever, I had a warm welcome, and once again my expectations were exceeded. A delightful room, bright and spacious with an en suite. Lovely hosts, excellent breakfasts and a great atmosphere. Everything you...

I stayed here four nights while visiting family in town. Stuart and Angela were wonderful -- very welcoming. I had number 8, in the back, which has a bay window and a little table and chairs. Very light and spacious. The bed compared favourably to almost any hotel I've been in. There was excellent Wifi, which may have been added...

Just got home after 2 nights here. Had a lovely time. Bed was very comfortable and the hosts are lovely. Would highly recommend this B & B. Second time we have been here and will definitely stay again. Breakfast cooked to suit us was lively and filling. Big pot of tea for hubby and large cafetière of coffee for me.

A large, spotlessly clean room, friendly staff, good breakfast and altogether exceptional value for money (at less than a room only rate for a Travelodge). However, don't expect any 'frills - no Wifi which was a bit of a problem for me (didn't think to check, so my fault) and 70's decor in the bedrooms and a shared bathroom but...

Stayed 1 night Bed and Breakfast. Made very welcome Bar popular with locals, Nice clean room and very good breakfast in the morning. This pub is very close to all the shops etc in this small town. I would recommend this inn for any one wanting to stay in this part of Essex.

Fantastic stay, friendly hosts, twin room was good , the beds were extremely comfortable with plenty of towels for two. We had our own bathroom and a wardrobe with hangers. The cooked breakfast was amazing with proper bacon and sausages and tomatoes as well as the usual cereal, toast etc . Will not hesitate to revisit and recommend.

Was very pleasantly surprised as never stayed in a b&b before. The room was very clean and had a nice homely feel. The staff were very friendly and made us feel welcome. Our room was very spacious and had everything you needed including a nice range of biscuits to have with your morning coffee. We would definitely stay there again...

Having read other reviews I was expecting a reasonable experience, and was very pleasantly surprised Hosts are a delight. Building is oozing character, room was huge(room 8) Breakfast free and tasty. Don't get me wrong, I love this place, the quirks, the characters and characteristics If you like sterile Premier inns, you will hate this place. Wobbly floors, old windows,...
