Not a good choice to stay, even for break-over coming from the Sea Side. The main house seems to be very nice and original, but the new Buildings have obviously no Isolation at all. So hot weather is insupportable in the night.
good breakfast and dinner, helpful and friendly staff, close to the shores of lake Murten...we will be back soon! New rooms are under construction, we look forward to that. Why does this field need min. 200 characters? :-)
We were biking a week through Switzerland and came to "Hotel de la Gare". The owner appeared nice and friendly, however, the breakfast was very poor, the rooms cheap furnished (though tidy) and a total ripp-off for the price paid. Kid was: we were able to look the bikes during the night in a separate room.
When someone looking for small nice hotel in the region that is not to expensive, this hotel is a good choice. In a front there is a small but nice restaurant, maybe more Inn or gust house. To the rooms behind the Inn you get through separate doors from outside. The key from your room also opens the the front doors. From every room you have directly connection to the outside place where you could rest. From here you also come the the back parking place. The other parking place is on the front side of the Inn.
We got a big room for your two small children and ourselves. The room was spacious, clean and well kept. After visiting the near by beer brewery and eating at the restaurant of the hotel we had a good night of sleep.
This is a very basic hotel that offers nothing to tourists. Perhaps they cater to locals only. The staff speak zero English and are, for the most part, not interested in being very helpful or friendly. There is no air conditioning and when I asked for a fan, I was rudely told there is no fan and was escorted to my room and shown how to open a window. A barking dog could be heard close by. Breakfast is not included despite paying $160 CHF for a basic room that offered no amenities. No fridge, no water offered (unless you pay 4 CHF). The bathroom does not have a door - rather there is a partially frosted sliding glass that offers no privacy. The hotel will make a breakfast for 10 CHF that is basically coffee and bread. No pastries, yogurt, fruits etc. I picked this hotel because it was cheaper than the hotels in Murten which is a few miles away but I regret saving the few dollars to stay at a hotel in the middle of a corn field and offering so little for some much money. Almost forgot to say - lots of flies come in the room offering you more aggravation.…
The staff is really nice and welcoming, speaking both french and german. The rooms are brand new, very clean, quiet place, the bed is comfortable, the bathroom was of modern design with a glass door so you have to be ok with your partner if you need more privacy to go to the toilet. But otherwise I loved the room, with small terasse, big TV screen, soap smelling sheets. Breakfast is not included but cheap and of great quality : substantial, with very good fresh bread, croissants, ham and cheese... Nothing to complain about! If you are travelling by train, train station is only 50 meters away. It is not the cheapest hotel, but well, it is switzerland... and the quality was more than we expected.
Hotel was in the process of being extended so had to climb over workmen to get round to the stairs up to rooms. Windows opened over bar area so we were treated to pungent cigarette smoke! We asked for an early breakfast and were told nothing before 8 and sent to the cafe round the corner which turned out to be the local petrol station! No tea or coffee facilities in room. Very little English spoken. Everything in Switzerland is expensive and this hotel seemed a lot for what we got.
