Hotel's Favourite
In March of this year, my spouse and I set out to create a memorable 20 year anniversary vacation. We knew we wanted to go to Greece (because we had never been there before), but we didn’t know exactly where. We looked at Mykonos and Santorini, but it was the lure of the Stella Island 5-Star Adult-Only All-Inclusive Resort and Spa that eventually won us over. The photos of the resort on-line were breathtaking, and seemingly offered the romantic and relaxing vacation we were looking for. As you know, pictures are only the beginning. The experience really starts at first contact. Our first contact with Stella Island was with Ms. Asimina Kefalaki in your reservations department. Even though there was a seven-hour time zone difference, and we could only correspond via email; Ms. Kefalaki was kind, courteous, and extremely responsive. While preparing, over a five-month period, we exchanged numerous e-mails, asking loads of questions. Her knowledge and professionalism quickly alleviated any concerns we had regarding the quality of your resort. At last, we arrived Stella Island on Thursday, 24 August 2023. Wow!!! Everything we had imagined was right in front of us. Upon arrival we were immediately and warmly greeting by Ms. Erasmia who sat us in the lobby while she and the staff worked their magic behind the scenes to get us checked-in. Within minutes we were offered a welcome refreshment. We were quickly checked-in and escorted to our Over-the-Water Bungalow (1002). Ms. Erasmia wasn’t done with us. The next day (and many days after that), she continued to help orchestrate our dining experiences, external excursions, and even, our nights out on the town. She greeted us EVERY TIME with a warm, beautiful smile, and a genuine desire to help. I knew we were in good hands. The impeccable service continued throughout the property, but we must mention a few staff members who went above and beyond every day we saw them. Ms. Maria (picture not available) and Ms. Marlilena at the Cabana pool bar were quick to offer a bright and cheery greeting, and genuinely wanted to make our days in the sun fun and happy. They offered us routine libations and challenged our pallets to try some of the Stella favorites. Maria and Marilena have amazing positive energy! They seemed like a breath of fresh air, each time one of them came to take another drink order! Two particular coffee Barristers at Utopia Coffee Bar, Ms. Rodula and Ms. Maritea, really stood out to us! Nothing, wakes up the soul like a special brew and a sunny smile. Ms. Rodula and Ms. Maritea are experts in their craft and should be commended for their desire and determination to create the perfect drink, each and every time! From Coffees and Teas to Cocktails, these two ladies not only made amazing drinks, but they made our time in the lobby with them FUN! Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed your Five-Star Resort and Five-Star Service!!! Thank you ALL, so very much!!! A very SPECIAL thank you to the ladies mentioned above who added that “extra” touch! Our experience at your resort will forever be a memory of a lifetime!!!

Best experience I have EVER had ! I never write reviews but I had to for this one. I took the all inclusive package and the room with jacuzzi on the balcony and I am so happy with my experience it is hands down THE BEST all inclusive resort I have ever been in my entire life. The setting is magnificent and top notch clean, same goes for the rooms, classy, clean and top quality products and room service. The restaurants were ALL amazing. The staff is just perfection, so kind, thoughtful, warm, caring and honesty just feels like family ! No matter the request they do all they can to fulfill it to the fullest. Extra special mention with so much love to out of this world staff : Ioanna (captain of Parilla restaurant), Eleni at the lobby, Rafael at the bar (most delicious drinks) and Katerina waiter at Parilla. We were the last guests on the resort on their last day and they offered us a small lunch before we leave for the airport since the restaurants closed on the last day..how cute !

From start to finish the hotel, food, rooms - and facilities are incredible. Where do I start ? Here goes. The people are amazing. To name but a few : Anastasia - Guest Service Relations - who looked after us at the Bungalow rooms (room 51) was incredible. Nothing was too much trouble. She sorted out our table reservations. Helped us with recommendations about the city and wine tour. Fabulous service from start to finish. Kostas and his colleagues at Makuti bar were amazing. Nothing was too much trouble. Bringing us drinks every day to our room was no trouble at all to Kostas. The chefs and colleagues (Anya / Katerina / Stella etc) all were so lovely - including the chefs - they were such nice people. We had such a good laugh with them all. Great food as well. Restaurants - wow !! Fantastic - all of them. Special mention to Captain Joanna at the steak restaurant - what a lovely person. She explained everything so well and made sure everything was perfect. We ate in the Mexican + Asian + Greek + Steak restaurants. They were all very good. Great food and great service. Buffet restaurant was great. Good selection. Fresh food. Great table service too. Not once did we have to queue up for a table - nor did we ever experience being rushed during our dining experience regardless of breakfast or dinner time. Let’s not forget to mention : all the staff at check in. Such lovely people. Guest relations desk. The hotel porters that drove us around in and around the hotel. The security guys that at the end of the evening shows would happily come down to get us in a buggy and drive us back to our room when it was late. Everything was perfect. As it was the end of the season - we managed to see most of the shows. They were good. Well organised. Fun too. Towards the end of the holiday- the shows stopped - but that was fine as we just changed to another part of the hotel where they had live music instead. All in all very happy. We have returned with fantastic memories. Great weather too for end Oct early November. We arrived as guests - we left as friends and we will visit again. To everyone at Stella Island. Enjoy the close season. Take a well earned break and rest. See you in 2024. Love from both Alan and Marie. xx

From the moment you walk into Stella Island you can see this is pure paradise!, from the beautiful settings all around to the most breathtaking scenery, I honestly can't recommend this resort enough. As soon as we checked in we knew we were in for a treat and Stella you did not disappoint. Right from the start we were treated with the most kindness and affection from all the staff, they all work so hard everyday but take time to chat to you and make you feel so welcome and tend to your needs. We went to all the shows which we loved and we're amazed at some of the performances they were incredible. We dined in most of the restaurants and the food was to die for. Great choice and variety of restaurants for everyone to choose from. We were all inclusive which was worth every penny, you can choose half board too. We like a cocktail so we tried most of them, they were very refreshing and so easy to drink, especially the Strawberry Daiquiri, Pina Colada and Forbidden Fruits. We spent most of our time our swim up room as the weather was surprisingly hot for this time of year so it was a perfect opportunity for us to sunbathe, we had our own deck with sunbeds which we absolutely loved, great for getting into the pool. We loved the swim up and would certainly have another one when we return in the future, the rooms are stunning with huge beds and a great shower. The villas, grand over water bungalows are a different league but way more expensive than the swim up rooms. In all honesty you wouldn't be disappointed with any of the accommodation you choose. We spent most of our time at the Cabana Bar as it was closest to us and the staff seemed so happy to see us everyday, especially Maria what a kind beautiful soul she really is, she would go out her way to help you and always ask how you were doing, myself and my husband were very fond of her. She is a great asset to Stella Island in our opinion. All staff there were very helpful and kind to us, I would swim up and get drinks and they would bring them over to me without me getting out the water, back and forth I'd go everyday!. My husband had an injury a couple of weeks before we were due to fly out to Crete and was unsure if we could go, luckily he made it but had to go about on crutches, the staff could not do enough for us both, they have club cars in the resort so they would pick is up take us to dinner and entertainment every evening and drop us off back at room so my husband didn't need to miss out on anything, now that's what I call a special service to which we will be forever grateful for. Thank you to all the drivers who took us all over the resort and helped in any way they could, we looked forward to seeing you all at night when we got picked up. Always a good laugh after a few drinks lol. I would also like to thank the cleaners as I feel sometimes they get left out, they worked so hard and cleaned our room every day, it was nice for our bed to made up and room tided, it's all about the little things. Thank you team Stella Island for giving us the holiday of a lifetime 🥰❤️

We’ve just returned from a 5 night stay at Stella island and to be perfectly honest it was really disappointing!! Good bits - it’s aesthetically pleasing, very clean and the staff around the pool are really attentive. The shampoo/shower gel/conditioner in the rooms are really nice touches. Bad points - the food is very samey day in/night out, if you’re a fussy eater you may struggle! Drinks are really disappointing, they are very very slow at bringing them and when you go to the bar they tell you to go back to your seat. It’s not unusual to wait 30mims plus for a drink, I think this is because they don’t want merry people walking around the place. It’s in the middle of nowhere amongst derelict land and you really can’t walk anywhere to do anything. We got a taxi in to hersonissos to go for tea one evening €15 per way. If you like a change of scenery then this probably isn’t the best place for you. It’s right under a flight path which didn’t bother us but some people may find low flying aeroplanes every 15/20 mins during the day annoying. The constant selfie taking by people there does become rather annoying at times especially when your trying to relax and there on every walk way, leaning against every palm tree/wall/water fountain/sun bed there in the pools taking pics/videos. We stayed in a pool view room and it was very standard nothing special at all!! All in all it was a relaxing place but massively overpriced, £3k for a 5 night stay with hardly any drinks and rubbish food is ridiculous. Would I recommend this place…….. absolutely NOT Will we be returning ………. Absolutely NOT Would rather spend my money on other hotels we’ve visited that are far nicer and cheaper 👌

Dear Nicola Br, Thank you for your review and for highlighting our attentive and dependable Team, our excellent facilities and aesthetic as well as our high-quality room amenities. We were genuinely surprised by your comments about the food as our resort boasts an array of dining options, including five exquisite a la carte restaurants and a sumptuous buffet, all curated by our dedicated culinary Team, which is always at the disposal of our valued guests to satisfy even the most demanding taste buds. Stella Island is a renowned gastronomic destination in Crete. Regrettably, your comments are too vague and derogatory and leave no space for constructive feedback for us, and no substance for our readers. Crete is a magnificent island offering numerous attractions, experiences, and natural beauty. If you hadn't had the opportunity to do any research beforehand, our Guest Relations Team would have been delighted to assist you with recommendations. It would be generally advisable to conduct thorough market research prior to booking any holiday, as rates can be subject to many variables. We kindly advise reviewing our official website, to verify the rates for a Luxury Pool-view room on a half-board basis for a 5-night stay during the last week of October, as the mentioned amount includes flights, transfers, your extras, etc. Additionally, we encourage greater consideration when sharing such information online, as it holds the potential to be misleading. Our utmost priority remains the maintenance of transparency and accuracy of any information shared online. It is also truly concerning the fact that you never brought any of this to our attention during your stay and even gave us a 10/10 on our NPS survey, with the comment "Loving our stay 👍". We sincerely regret that your review mainly reflects your observations of other guests enjoying their time, the taxi fare to Hersonissos, and your perception of the surrounding area, rather than focusing on your personal experience within our resort. Best regards, Georgia Fragkiadaki Guest Experience Coordinator

I booked this holiday for my husband’s birthday and it is quite possibly the best hotel we have ever visited. Everything about this hotel is efficient and organised. The staff are absolutely impeccable. We were very impressed with the restaurant staff in particular, who constantly went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. I have to personally mention Ranya(a waitress at the Makuti bar), who is a credit to the hotel itself. But, all staff were incredible, and make this hotel so worthwhile visiting. We stayed in the premium pool view room. The hotel room was super clean, with a beautiful view of the pool, and to the entrance a view of the sea. The pillows are heavenly, and make it very difficult to get out of bed in the morning! The only flaw we picked up about the hotel room was the drain to the bidet was slightly smelly (probably due to the hot weather), but I must admit it was not noticeable enough to raise it as a complaint. Our hotel room cleaner was so polite and friendly, and always checked if we needed anything. The food was great, even the buffet food. I had a bad experience with food poisoning from a 5 star hotel in Sharm El Sheikh last year, and I was nervous to eat buffet food again. The food is so well maintained, constantly under heat lamps and changed if running low. The fruit section had fly covers over the top. Safe to say no upset tummy this holiday! Stella has restored my faith in eating at hotels again. Overall, this is the best hotel we have been to and it certainly exceeded our expectations. We are so happy to have booked Stella Island, and I am certain we will return in the near future.

I wanted to give an honest review about mine and my partners stay at Stella Island. Firstly on the first glance the hotel is beautiful and we were greeted and explained the full resort by a lovely lady, but little flaws began to appear from our first night. Rooms: We were originally in a premium swim up room opposite the Makuti restaurant/bar which operates from 11am -6pm. We did request to change rooms after the first day as we were overlooking the restaurant and we felt like we had 0 privacy as everyone was sitting eating peering at us and had to keep the curtains drawn when in our room. We were kindly moved after speaking to reception the following day, we were given an identical room which we had a little more privacy. When moving rooms were did receive a sarcastic comment ‘a young couple should enjoy this room as it’s close to the bar’ we felt like this comment was off the mark as it was insensitive and just wasn’t needed. We were happy about the room swap but on our first night in the new room the smoke alarm kept beeping as if the batteries were low, we had no sleep this night. I flagged this up with reception the next morning and they sent someone round to fix this. We did note that the rooms were not very sound proof with gaps underneath the door; you can hear every thing, from people walking past and talking to golf buggy’s driving past. I may add the room we stayed was very spacious and the bed was like sleeping on a cloud! May I add rooms are a stones throw away from various sunbed areas, restaurants and other rooms which wasn’t such a problem in our new room but it is just to point out if you did want privacy maybe book the private villas or bungalows. The premium swim up rooms in my opinion are definitely not worth the extra money, we love the pool and thought this was the best option for us but we were wrong. We got no sun in either room which seemed like a massive waste to us, we also felt like other holiday makers were judging us for using the sunbeds around the resort and not using the ones on our decking but we had no sun on our decking at any point throughout our stay which we were a bit disheartened about. Pools: They looks clean from the eye but when we entered the pools they were filled with dead crickets and debris from the plants / palm trees around the resort. We never once seen the pool cleaned and we were there for 7 nights which is not how a 5* resort should be. Service: We had a mixed reviews on this, some al a carte restaurants the service was very good but in others it was as if staff just simply could not be bothered and were tired, we did see staff working long hours and it was the same faces. Around the pool staff did wander round taking drinks orders and sometimes this was a long wait. We sometimes resorted to going to the bar for quicker service but we were told to take a seat or tell them where we were sunbathing and they would bring our drinks to us which sort of defeated the object into getting a quicker drink. We went for breakfast one morning and both ordered ice lattes, we ate our breakfast and left the buffet and our drinks still did not arrive. It seems like very little waiter staff compared to how many residents are staying. One shout out for Katerina, she made sure at the entertainment every night we had drinks at all time, this seemed like the only place we got looked after. Food: We were all inclusive at Stella which we paid extra upon arrival which I do believe is the best option. You got to visit 5 al a cartes as we were there for a 7 day trip. The steak al a carte was by far our favourite, we did notice when we ordered desserts in every Al a carte the plates were freezing and had condensation all over which insinuated to us they had been all made up and stored in the fridge for how ever long. No dessert we had felt like it was fresh we are so thankful we went all inclusive as if we had visited / paid for the Al a cartes it would have been very disappointing. We had the Buffet for 2 nights but we were disappointed with the selection there was not a lot to choose from. Breakfast was very good, fresh omelettes and crepes every morning and a wide variety of food. Lunch we ate majority in the Makuti restaurant which was outstanding but sometimes there was a wait to get a table which is understandable, I wouldn’t like to think how it is in peak season as this restaurant is not big. Drinks: The drinks selection for cocktails were very good but we did notice there was not a lot of alcohol content in them. The selection of wines and beers on the all inclusive were not the best, I would have hoped we would have got premium spirit brands included which was not the case. Entertainment: This was very good but it got a bit tedious as the week went on as it was so repetitive! It was the same singer and dancers but just a different theme which become boring night after night. Other points: We did visit the water park one day and that was the highlight of our stay, we loved this and was included on the all inclusive and we had lunch there which was very good considering it was a pool bar. The hotel is situated in a very derelict area which we never knew when booking, there is not a lot around this hotel so be warned if you want to go for a walk there are no shops apart from some makeshift supermarkets, tour booking stands and a stoney beach. Another thing to note is that the hotel is situated over a flight path, planes are flying very low every 10-15 minutes I would say which did not bother us but may bother someone who wants a peaceful break. Overall, we did enjoy our holiday but I do not think we would return and sadly I would not label this hotel as a 5* major details were certainly missed and in my opinion it was not worth the money!

Dear Ashdon H, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We appreciate your detailed comments and we are truly sorry to hear that some aspects of your experience have not met your expectations. We would be delighted to address the mentioned points to provide some clarity. As per many reviewers and from our experience, the Premium Swim-up rooms are highly favoured for their spaciousness and convenient direct access to the pool. However, we regret any misunderstanding caused by the comment from our colleagues, and we want to reassure you that there were no bad intentions. It's important to note that each room has its own unique position inn our property, and the different features, such as sunshine, proximity to bars, privacy, etc. based on the individual preferences of our guests, are accordingly appreciated. Moreover, each room, depending on its direction, receives the sun at different times of the day, and there is no room that receives no sun at all, depending always on the weather conditions and if the weather is cloudy. At this point, we have to emphasize that your priority was privacy, and not sunshine during a specific time of the day, and according to your wishes, we offered you this alternative, which after reviewing, you gladly accepted. We really do our very best to accommodate each guest’s preferences in the most personalized way. Considering the layout of the resort, it is true that the swim-up rooms do not offer maximum privacy, and this is evident and transparently communicated everywhere the resort is advertised. For guests seeking more seclusion, we recommend our Pool-view rooms or our Island Villas with Private Pool. We always ensure that guests have the opportunity to view the new room before making any changes, and we prioritize their satisfaction throughout the process. Regarding the fire alarm, our Front Desk Team is available 24/7 for any assistance, and we encourage guests to reach out to us immediately for prompt resolution of any issues. We still wonder why you did not bother to let us know, all night long. Kindly be informed that we do have rigorous cleaning procedures and the most modern filtration systems for our pools and surroundings, throughout the day and night, to maintain a high standard of cleanliness. However, we would like to ask for your understanding as being in a natural environment, the wind may occasionally introduce debris, and we strive to minimize this to the best of our ability. We deeply value the well-being of our Team, and we are disheartened to learn that you felt otherwise. It is truly the first time we have received such feedback. Our colleagues strictly adhere to their designated shifts, ensuring that they do not work longer hours than necessary. Additionally, there are occasionally split shifts. We consistently remain committed to creating a positive and supportive work environment for our Team. We were discouraged to read your comments about our desserts, as we have our own expansive and brand-new pastry lab, where our talented pastry chefs create delectable treats for our guests from scratch. We would be delighted to offer you a personal tour of our facilities and introduce you to the creative process behind our desserts. We are truly surprised to hear your feedback regarding our evening entertainment program. We strive to offer diverse and engaging performances, with different theme nights every evening, as you also mentioned. We regret that this aspect did not meet your expectations. We are genuinely concerned that you did not raise any of these issues during your stay, as it would have allowed us to address your concerns promptly and provide a more enjoyable experience. We are here to assist, and we would be delighted to have the opportunity to personally ensure your stay is as comfortable and enjoyable as it gets. Thank you once again for choosing our resort for your holidays. Best regards, Georgia Fragkiadaki Guest Experience Coordinator

My husband and I have just returned from the most wonderful honeymoon at Stella Island We arrived on a late flight, we were instantly offered a welcome cocktail and brought to our room (despite being right beside reception) in a golf buggy so we could see around the resort. We were all inclusive but missed dinner due to flight times so the staff made sure we got room service at no charge. The food is second to none, We went to Kimata Buffet every morning for the best breakfasts, the fresh crepe station we especially loved! We got to go to 3 of the 4 al a carte restaurants, recommend La Parilla and Umami, both amazing!!! Special thank you to Marilena at the pool, always service with a smile and a chat, we really appreciated you! We loved our week in Stella Island, full recommend for the most relaxing holiday you’ll ever have!
