Simple rooms, quiet stay, normal breakfast, nothing very special yet. But at lunch and dinner time, Then everything changes! Sublime foods. Some simple some rustic but all full flavoured and good. Steaks from the grill, pasta with wild boar ragu, panacotta, tiramisu, and more. All Accompanied with good wines, for an very normal price. At the end of one evening the owner opened his cupboard with grappa (he collects) he let us tastes all varieties. It is a little far from all the tourist places, but stay, rest eat and drink here for a couple of days, it will be wonderful
From the second we walked into the hotel, until we left, we felt nothing but warmth for this hotel. Riccardo welcomed us, took our bags (!!! :-) and showed us to our room. Beautiful view of the mountains. It was early in the season so the pool wan not yet open but the weather wasn't that accomodating for an outdoor swim, so no worries there. The room was comfortable and clean. The personel were friendly and accomodating ... and they spoke English!! Breakfast was included and very good, especially the mortedalla worst! For dinner, you have to try the bistecca fiorentina!! It was delicious!! Een kilo meat, easily can be shared by 2 or 3 people (even 4 people with small eaters). Don't let the €38,00 scare you....it was so worth it!! Area is also beautiful.
My husband and I stayed at Il Cacciatore for two weeks in Sept/Oct 2016. The rooms were very comfortable, very clean, and we had no problems with WiFi. The restaurant was unbelievably good. Every meal was excellent. We especially loved their tortellini al brodo. Ricardo, Franca and the entire staff were hospitable, friendly, and could never do enough for us. I very highly recommend both the hotel and the restaurant.
We were searching for a hotel in the middle of july and after one hour of drive we finally reached our destination at Riccardo's hotel. We sat down and were served one of our best Italian traditional menues ever! Simple but what a taste!!! After the dinner we had a nice evening on our balcony overlooking the beautiful scenery of the valley below. The next day we extended the stay, went to Lucca and returned to his hotel for another beautiful food experience. Other facts:The pool was clean and nice. The area has a lot to offer f example mountain hiking and small intime villages. The hotel has a very interesting retro design which is kept in very good shape by Ricardo. Rooms are fine. We will return as soon as possible, but....... Life is also working days. Until then have a nice stay in san marcello. Before you leave also remeber to visit the local COOP foodstore. Their susages were very good even after the drive to Florence and our return to Scandinavia.…
We stayed at this hotel for a period of 3 weeks, we were treated as Royalty, the place is immaculate the ambiance is very friendly and picturesque the owner Riccardo as well as the staff are very attentive to their guests needs. The chef Sergio is awesome, his dishes are delicious, he is friendly and open to any request. Here is where you can really enjoy the True Tuscan-Italian cuisine. During our stay we traveled around, tried other restaurants but we all agreed Il Cacciatore was by far the best. A nice feature of this Hotel is the parking area for their guests and also very convenient a few steps from the Hotel there is a bus stop in case you choose not to drive to some of the surrounding cities such as Florence which is a Must See city but very congested. There are also several places of interest within driving distance of il Cacciatore such as the cave of the winds with beautiful stalactites, the suspended bridge with quite a history behind it and several other sights, the owner Riccardo is a great source of information and always available and willing to be of help. On a score of 1 to 10 i would give it a 10 plus! .…
