We stayed here for 3 nights. Elena and Gigi were welcoming and friendly and the guest house is clean, light and airy. The vegetarian food was WONDERFUL. Elena's daughter is vegetarian, so she's had a lot of practice at crafting veg menus. The desserts were to die for, esp the toffee walnut cake and the blackcurrant doughnut. And the apple...

We stayed here for three nights with a group who were there to study birds and plants. We had been down on the Danube delta for a week and our journey by coach to Zarnesti took 12 hours so we were tired and hungry on arrival. We were given a very small room with the only window being a velux...

Elena and Gigi must be two of the kindest hosts you will meet anywhere. They cannot do enough for you during your stay and are always concerned that one has eaten enough (great news for me and my son who were there on a wildlife watching holiday!) Pensiunea Elena is situated in the foothills of the Piatra Craiului mountains which...

We stayed for 5 nights in late September. The weather had taken a turn for the worse with quite cool temperatures. Our room was spacious with a sitting area and balcony. My only quibble would be about the bedding. Although clean, the quality was not brilliant. Whether this is the norm for Romania, I know not! The major plus point...

. Zarnesti is not a particularly attractive town & the pension looks small from the outside, but don't be put off it's spacious inside and we were made to feel more like friends than guests by Gigi & Elena. The vegetarian food was EXCELLENT, the best I have ever had abroad & the helpings were huge. The wine was good...

Most of the guests are aristocratic Englishmen who have no idea what they even paid for the place because it came as part of an over priced Eco- package. Most come to the Inn with personal guides as if they are in the Punjab and don't leave the walls without them. They don't talk to you and get annoyed when you...

This family run hotel is fantastically welcoming. Quite a surprise to find such a well run and comfortable place tucked away in this poor village. The rooms were large, bathrooms excellent with hot water on tap. Meals were imaginative, generous and tasty with selection of cheeses sausages and hams for breakfast. Wine was very reasonably priced per bottle and quite...

What a find. We were recommended this guest house as part of our Absolute Carpathian package (also top quality) and as vegetarians were somewhat dubious about what would await us but needn't have worried. Located in a side street of this handy but not too pretty town, first impressions from the outside were not striking. But once inside .......lovely courtyard,...
