Detailed Reviews
Booked this as a little treat to get away from Covid stress and for my husband and I to have a break. We were greeted by a very polite and friendly receptionist and check in was easy. We were given room 4 which after looking at the room photos I was pleased to have. However the electronic key did not work and we were given another room on the top floor room 9. Spotlessly clean room and comfortable bed started off with a chill out in the room before pre dinner drinks.
Our table was booked in the restaurant for 19.30 but It was no trouble To have our table earlier. Surroundings very clean and pleasant. We both had scallops to start followed by steak and pizza, the wine we ordered had to be fetched from Alfred’s which was very quick. Food was delicious and portions ample. We decide to retire to the room and watch a film ( which is difficult to do in our busy household). We soon settled down for a good nights sleep, beds comfortable and the room warm. Then.............we were woken by the clock on the church spire chiming throughout the night which disturbed our sleep after settling back off we were woken once again around 04.00 hrs until 07.00 hrs with a loud alarm sounding outside of the hotel. It was impossible to get off to sleep resulting in a splitting headache. In the morning we were greeted by a friendly polite waiter who welcomed us to breakfast, small selection of muffins, yohurt, cereal juice and toast. We then ordered a full breakfast and cheese omelette. Once again food delicious. Although if I am to be picky........ the breakfast chef needs to be informed that customers can actually hear his conversations. ( enough said), the bathroom towels were frayed on the edges and the carpet to the stairs was threadbare and loose in places. If we had a full nights sleep we would have given the experience a 9 but decided it was a 5. ( although the hotel can not be held accountable for alarms on other buildings) This was due to being disappointed that the relaxing night we hoped for was not achieved.

We had no idea what to expect, but walking into the hotel we were absolutely delighted!
Beautiful unusual decor, welcoming staff and great atmosphere!
Our hotel room itself was pristine, spacious and had everything you needed including an ironing board and iron which was much needed after our long journey.
Breakfast-wise, we were apprehensive- between us four we needed food to accommodate a vegetarian, a vegan, a coeliac and a nut allergy, and then one of us who just loved black pudding. Lindsey listened carefully, double checked all dietary information in the kitchen, and went above and beyond to offer alternatives for us. We originally only wanted breakfast at the hotel on one of our mornings but we stayed for brekkie the next morning too as it was so delicious and most importantly, accommodating!
Lindsey absolutely deserves a pay rise or at the very least a huge bonus for being so patient and understanding and helpful- what an excellent member of your lovely team.
We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and would happily come stay the the Blueberry Inn again.

I have stayed at the Blueberry before and always enjoy my stay. Unfortunately this time the customer service wasn’t great. We were told over the phone that a table would be saved for us in the restaurant. Because of this we didn’t book a table anywhere else. We arrived in the evening to be told the restaurant was full and they didn’t save any tables for hotel guests and couldn’t provide any alternative.
Due to it being during the “Eat out to Help out” period, we were unable to get a table anywhere else and had to order a take away.
Really disappointing.
However, the room itself was large and clean with everything we needed. There was an enormous bed and TV and had a comfortable stay.

The picture shown was actually my room, very spacious, big bed, lovely soft towels, plenty of room in the bathroom.
Maybe a bit picky, the fixtures are lovely , but the repairs are of poor quality on good quality fixtures i.e the bathroom, sealant around the bath spoils the lovely bathroom.
breakfast, local produce , fab , but perhaps cook all produce throughly sausage not cooked hash brown soggy
staff not really that helpful when i needed a taxi just gave me a card to ring a taxi
having said all of the above lots of potential for a fab central hotel

We stayed on the 3rd floor room 8. lt was quite roomy and it was spotless. The bed was very comfortable and there were plenty of towels. The weather was very warm but there was a portable fan there which we really needed. Breakfast was very good. There was a continental breakfast plus a choice of cooked dishes. Staff were all very pleasant and friendly

Staff were great, room was great, breakfast was great. Car parking was a bad experience. Due to one way system it took a while to find it. Also when I went to my car in the morning some local fool had blocked me in. Phoning the hotel was also pointless as it always went to ansaphone. Though it was nice and staff were pleasant I wont be staying there again.

Poor customer service, unsuitable crockery and glassware. The staff member was unprofessional in both attitude and appearance. No smile or welcome. On enquiring what cakes were available for their Coffee and Cake promotion, we were told "only lemon drizzle cake" - with a take it or leave it attitude. We left it, perhaps "cake of the day is lemon drizzle" would have been more encouraging. I am not sure any amount of Customer Training would help this lady, I think she just didn't want to be there, let alone be helpful or welcoming.
We sat at a table for 4 persons that set out for 2, the lady asked us to move as she had set it up for evening service.
The drinks were both served in a messy crockery (as in photograph). The double whisky in a dirty half pint glass, that we requested was changed, preferably to a whisky glass and were told they didn't have any, the nearest type was a large brandy glasses. We spotted a short water glass and the whisky was poured into it.
We were then presented with the bill £9.50, we paid it with amusement, no apology or enquiry to ask if everyone was okay.
We called in for a drink to suss out the ambiance for booking a family meal there. We will never return and would suggest others call prior to booking there.

Found the receptionist a little inattentive which gave us a negative impression from the point of entry. When asked if we could have a table to eat dinner we were told yes but not until 5.30pm, it was 5.29pm when we asked. The receptionist/bar staff sat as at a table and made us feel like we were too early. No one came to our table til just after 6pm. It was the longest wait ever. I walked up to the bar to the young man working to ask if we can be served or at least get an estimate of when we will be served, and he didn’t even acknowledge me.
My food tasted a bit like it had been defrosted. My partners was really good! He enjoyed it very much. But the cheesy garlic bread I must say was so good! The chips were nice too. Perhaps if I had chose something different the overall rating may have been better?!
The two waitresses working were absolutely brilliant and very attentive and accommodating. It was like we were suddenly in a different place because of them.
If it weren’t for the long wait and reluctance to seat us we would probably return.

We stayed one night in the Suite, room 3. A huge and very comfortable bed, and the sofa bed made up for our teenage son. We had dinner in the hotel, which was very good, and also a lovely breakfast the next morning. Cereal and pastries plus a choice of cooked breakfasts, waffles or breakfast sundaes. The staff are very friendly and attentive.
Right in the shopping street and a beautiful park minutes walk away.
Parking is a short walk away. The hotel gives you a permit for you to display in the car. After 3pm you can park outside the hotel to unload your bags but then need to park in the car park.
Can recommend this hotel. The room was a little in need of a bit of ‘tidying’ here and there, and some ‘Exit Mould’ in the bathroom wouldn’t go amiss, but nothing to complain about. There is a Lift to the upper floors.

Stayed 1 Night, I must say I have stayed in quite a few boutique hotels over the years but this place was a real hidden gem! From the outside I was thinking oh! The Main reception bar and restaurant area are decorated to a very high standard as was the room itself. Staff on duty were very polite and courteous and made the stay very enjoyable. Breakfast was huge ! Very tasty, too much for me to be honest. I would definitely stay if I ever visit the area again 10/10

As far as I'm aware, the restaurant is open in normal pub times but not on Sunday evening. Best to check with the lovely staff if you want a certain day or time. They also cater for parties of all descriptions.
Sometimes, there are Specials so check with proprietor.
Yes it is, and it is a good, hearty meal.
yes, there is a lift
The car park is just behind Alfred's grill restaurant around the corner from the hotel but if you're staying at the hotel they will give you a pass.
