Travelodge Gatwick Airport Central garners praise for its proximity to the airport and the handy shuttle service, offering a comfortable and efficient stay for those in transit. While the hotel's atmosphere receives mixed reviews, from dated hallways to a welcoming bar and dining area, guests have called out the spacious rooms and the staff's prompt service.
However, some travelers report issues with noise disturbances, room temperatures, and cleanliness. Despite these inconsistencies, for many travelers, the hotel remains a value-conscious choice, with some caveats regarding additional fees.

Detailed Reviews
Booked hotel in advance for one night pre-flight and one night post flight from Gatwick Airport.
Discovered the hotel by chance last year when we had to make emergency plans due to train strikes. We were pleased with the price and location last year, so we decided to use Travelodge again this year.
Hoppa bus runs frequently from North and South Terminals to several off airport hotels. Hoppa buses are reliable and timely but not necessarily cheap. £48 for a return ticket for 6 of us. Need to factor this in, if looking for best price hotel.
The rooms were spacious with a double bed and two full-size beds for teenage children (not sofa beds), which was a bonus.
Restaurant on site with reasonable menu choices for the whole family. Breakfast (buffet style) is also available each morning.
As with most Travelodge hotels, hair dryers, although not in rooms as standard, can be requested from reception and were readily available.
You get what you pay for with Travelodge, a comfortable bed for the night, and hot water for a bath/shower. The room (particularly the bathroom) would benefit from a deep clean, sinks, and drains are black with grime.
We left in the early hours pre-flight. Reception was attended 24 hours. We did report a very strong smell of cannabis in the corridor as we left, and it was noted that a member of the reception team did leave immediately with an air freshener to deal with the issue. What action they took, other than using an air freshener, can not be commented on.
On the whole, an average stay. Comfy bed and hot water, the basics for a good stay. We would consider using Travelodge Gatwick Airport Central again, but will factor in the cost of the Hoppa bus when comparing other hotels. We would also suggest to friends and family that it is worth considering as an option for pre- and post flight stays.

I needed to stay one night before a flight. I have never been to a Travelodge so didn't know what to expect.
Here's what I got:
PROs:
- close to North Terminal. This is key cause a bunch of hotels in tjr area pretend they are near Gatwick but your 22 pound Uber may not agree. This hotel is served by the Hoppa bus for 4.50 pounds
- THE STAFF!! I have been at 4 hotels in 2 weeks. The other 3 were high end. Hands down, all the people I interacted with here were the friendliest, most helpful and efficient.
- pretty clean and bed and pillows aren't bad.
- fairly spacious room made even more so by the minimalist decor - a bed, two tiny built in night stands, a built in desk and a weirdly large empty space between the bed and the wall. One picture above the bed.
- large cafe/bar that feels like an airport termmal waiting area open all night with meal deals
CONs:
- Super frill-free - no fridge, no hair dryer, mo bath mat, paid wifi, no pjonre in room to call front desk, body wash/shampoo dispenser, no outlet by bed only USB ports which is less than ideal for fast charging.
- My shower soap dispenser was empty which i learned after getting in at 2am. Front desk to the rescue!!! She brought me a cup of soap right away. The soap itself was weird.
- Agaim never stayed at a Travelodge so maybe they are all like this, but feels like a government office in the lobby and institutional on the floors. Hallways are very long and on light timers so creepy to look towards and walk into a dark tunnel till light pops on.

We was staying for 1 night before we were going on our holiday. I paid extra for a super family room as it stated would be on a quieter floor with I thought was perfect with 2 children and one autistic and needs quiet to sleep. People were playing music loudly till midnight. Something needs putting in place or don’t advertise a quiet floor when nothing is put in place.

Danny was fantastic at the front desk. We arrived late at night. He helped us to get a room close by, as we were leaving early in the morning, He gave us information about it the shuttle bus service (£4 each) to the terminal & helped us organise onsite parking for 3 nights (£20/night). The breakfast was awesome & we were so happy with our experience that we booked another night there on our return so we didn’t have to drive late at night. Danny was there again to help us extend the parking and welcome us back. We hope he gets due credit for his customer service.

This Travelodge had been recently refurbished and is ideal for an overnight stay before an early flight. Have stayed before and will definitely stay again very good value. Also ideal as the local pub with great grub Ye Olde Six Bells is only a 5/10min walk away.

It's a budget airport hotel, it does the job. The young woman checking us in was polite and was doing her best to get around some sort of hold up. I was nervous about the room because I'd read some reviews talking about mould and dirt, but in terms of cleanliness it was fine and smelt fresh. Bed was comfortable and pillows were ok. The bathroom was clean and perfectly adequate though yes, the shower curtain and daft shower tray will flood the bathroom floor!
My two main beefs are: it was freezing cold! The weather had just turned chilly, and the room was unheated and frigid. I did arrive at about 1am from my late flight but I'd expect a decent temperature in a hotel room. I was too groggy to get to grips with the air con (it might well have done heating as well as cool air) but there was a plug in electric heater, the sort of thing you might have in your house to heat up a room! This makes me think that rooms in this wing are routinely cold. It felt pretty shoddy to have to plug in a cheap heater like this, and not really safe - I wasn't comfortable going to sleep with it on. So I was pretty cold.
The other thing was that after maybe three hours sleep, I was woken by the fire alarm and flashing red lights in the room! This was terrifying - I was exhausted from travel and had no idea where I was or what was going on. Eventually I put on my shoes and coat over pjs and took my bag into reception. By then the alarm had stopped but I thought I could hear it elsewhere in the hotel. The person on duty at 5am was perfectly polite but assumed I was checking out (in my confused state and pyjamas!) and when I said 'there was a fire alarm, what's happening??' he just said 'oh that was just a false alarm'. It would really be helpful if there's some sort of indication (like on the TV screen) or announcement in the event of a false alarm. It was really disorienting and I was beyond tired when I finally checked out.

The comforters are cozy, the staff are extremely friendly, and always willing to help with any questions you have. They have great deals on food and drinks. The location is prime if you need access to the train station and the airport with cheap shuttle rides that run regularly throughout the day.

All three Reception staff were kind, friendly, Welcoming, efficient and professional. They made check-in smooth and quick. We arrived at 12:03am totally exhausted from a full day of travel.
Bed was VERY comfortable. Bathroom has lots of fresh, fluffy towels, lots of hot water and great water pressure in the shower.
Breakfast had a wide variety of choices. Overall an excellent place to stay. BONUS… the Hoppa bus travels round trip between Gatwick airport and this hotel stopping directly at the front door… £4.50 one way OR £8.00 round trip.

I recently stayed at Travelodge Central Gatwick Airport and while the room was generally clean, there were a few issues that affected my stay.
Firstly, I noticed that the edge of the bath was corroded, which was a bit off-putting. Additionally, there weren't enough towels provided in the room. An extra small hand towel would have been appreciated so that guests wouldn't have to use the main towel to dry their hands.
The biggest issue I had, however, was with the air conditioning system. It made a very annoying noise every 20 minutes, which went on for 10-15 minutes each time. Unfortunately, this noise was quite loud and prevented me from getting a proper night's sleep. I had to use my own noise-cancelling headphones just to get some rest. While I didn't report this issue to the staff at the time because it was late and I had to wake up early the next morning, it was a significant inconvenience.
Overall, I think Travelodge could improve by addressing these issues in the future, given that their prices have gone up so much recently, it is not worth the money.
While the staff was friendly and the room was clean aside from the issues mentioned above, the noise from the air conditioning system really impacted my ability to sleep well. I hope this feedback is helpful in improving the experience for future guests.

The price of a room was easily worth not having to get up at 3am to catch an early flight and get a couple of extra hours in bed. Spacious bar. Rooms are what you'd expect, just a place to lay your head for the night before getting up for a flight. The bus to the terminals is roughly every 15 mins, so very handy.

Nope, don't think so. Didn't see any walking paths and the route to/from the airport is convoluted, unfortunately. The shuttle is painless and runs 24h/day though!

Yes definitely 24hr - search Gatwick Hoppa (won't let me put link) for full timetable but leaves Travelodge 03.27 and 03.42 which are closest times to your requirements.
