Great for walkers
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travellers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
We arrived drenched after an almighty downpour and the check in was one of the quickest I’ve ever had at a hotel, which was much appreciated as we just wanted to get dry! The lady on reception was friendly and gave us all the relevant COVID info. Breakfast was good, not many options but understandable given the circumstances and delivered to your room as the restaurant is currently closed. The room was tired but clean - we’ve stayed all over the place in Tenby and find they’re all this way unless you’re spending a fortune per night so not a problem or surprise. Great location - 2 mins from the beach, couple of minutes walk from the centre of Tenby and just up the hill from the north beach car park which is considerably cheaper than the south beach one!

Hi Thank you for taking the time in writing this 4 star review for us :) We deliberately ensure that we have all information prior to your arrival (for track and trace) which then allows us to spend minimal time getting you checked in. Thank you for your feedback regarding Breakfast as due to social distancing it is not practical for 50 guests with only room for 5 tables so the room service was our only option for our guests safety. We appreciate that the rooms are a bit tired, however we are going to carry out as much refurbishment work as we can after the summer months. Importantly they are clean and we work hard to ensure this. We do keep our pricing sensible even when there is such a huge demand now. Once again thank you for an excellent review and I hope that guests thinking of staying will read your comments. Kind Regards Richard

Stayed for a long weekend. Room was very small, bruised knees from hitting bed post everytime I went to bathroom. Very small bathroom space with very challenging shower. Shower head cant cope with water pressure so water goes everywhere soaking the room. Was very disappointed that we did not know bar and facilities would not be available as not mentioned on website pre travel. Hotel was booked for this reason. Also breakfast was served in room which was not a pleasant experience, asked for plate at least which was provided. Although hotel had been closed during covid and only reopened few weeks prior to stay it didnt look or feel like the rooms were deep cleaned. I know only 2 star and budget hotel but I had to wash out kettle, which if you want to make a cuppa I had to move kettle to bed side unit as plug/cable didnt reach in placed position. Also carpet had bits on it like bits of wrapper and generally looked unclean, they very kindly hovered when requested.so glad I packed flip flops to walk around room in.Bath I rinsed around as a few lingering hairs found and The clothes cupboard smelt quite musty too. Overall ok stay, yes in need of modern uplift and reconfiguration of rooms maybe as my particular room was way too small as a double, hosts accommodating.

Hi Thank you for your constructive review following your recent 3 night stay. Firstly we were pleased to read that you found all the staff accommodating and that our 2 star hotel was fairly priced. Thank you for also bringing these points mentioned to our attention during your stay so that we could assist you with the shower, explain why we had to implement our restrictions and re hoover the room and supply you with plates. Sorry that you were disappointed that the bar and Restaurant were not open but we do state on our website and Booking.com that the bar is closed. We have done what we think is the best thing with Breakfast which has generally been met positively but I do understand guests frustration, but unfortunately due to Covid we can only accommodate 5 socially distanced tables and have 50 guests so it is not practical or safe to do this. All rooms are thoroughly cleaned prior to all guests arrival and sincere apologies if you felt this was not the case or if anything at been overlooked by us. The room you were allocated is our smallest Double Room and our rooms do vary quite significantly due to the age and layout of the building so if considering staying again please call me and I will arrange a larger room for you. Once again thank you for your feedback and pleased that you enjoyed your long weekend with your friends. Kind Regards Richard

Booked for an event in the De Valence pavilion which is 5 minutes walk away, at a very reasonable price which included breakfast. The hotel is close to the centre of the beautiful seaside town of of Tenby. There is no parking at the hotel but there is a public car park about 200 meters away. The hotel is slightly dated but very clean, and the room is of a good size. The best feature was the friendliness of the couple who were there that particular weekend, nothing was too much trouble for them. Apparently it's so family run enterprise. Breakfast was very good with freshly cooked fried eggs! Over all, a very good experience. Will definitely return.

This hotel requires a FULL refurb Im afraid! The managers are lovely people but the hotel is an utter disgrace and if it was my business, I would be ashamed of it. The rooms are not just 'tired', they are appalling! We stayed in 2 rooms as changed after 1st night. 1st room was like a shoe box with a leaking toilet and a 'so called ' wardrobe area wich also housed a set of drawers with the tea tray on top so any clothes hanging woul have been steamed uf boiling the kettle! The window frames were metal and bafly painted with horrendous condensation and the shower was just a joke! We were moved to a lower floor the 2nd day as we struggled with the steps and although the room was bigger, the decor and facilities were no better. This hotel needs closung down for 6 months and needs some money and time spending on it. We have stayed in better and cleaner hostels in Vietnam and Thailand than this so called hotel and have paid a quarter of the price. If we could have had a refund on our arrival, I would have walked straight out of the door after seeing our room. I am not a snob, nor a very wealthy individual used to 2st class. I am a woman who works hard and saves and lives in a clean home. This hotel is a disgrace. Worn duvets, ripped duvet covers, filthy bathroom floor covering, loose toilets, lumpy uncomfortable smelly beds, damp foisty wallpaper falling off the walls and shower cubicles with shower fittings that are goodness knows how old and I daren't remove the sheet from the mattress as heaven knows what I would have found and to top it off, our room was not cleaned even ONCE during our stay, nor our bedding changed!! So much for being sanitary and covud aware!! Sorry, but for the first time in my travels, I begrudge every penny it cost me to stay and only did so as not to let my friend down. The saddest thing is, this could be a fabulous hotel as the location is perfect, but I don't know what type of clientele they are used to, as to me its a disgrace!

Hi Thank you for leaving your review which I must admit took us by complete surprise as during your weeks stay you did not bring ANYTHING to our attention. As you are aware (since we spoke to you everyday ) we have only just reopened after a 4 month closure of our business. It was myself that offered to move you to a lower floor that I was able to do from the second day of your stay. Due to Covid the rooms are not serviced (as per the procedures which you had a copy) This is for both your and our safety however supplies were given out by completing the forms provided. I do not understand how an adult can be so unhappy and not mention it to another adult - this is called communication and how things can be rectified. If you were so unhappy on arrival to the point that you didn't want to stay we would have happily refunded you and you could have made alternative arrangements - we don't keep anyone prisoner. We have been here successfully for 13 years and we work tirelessly to ensure that our guests are looked after and it upsets us to read your damning review particularly as you did not mention anything to us but you prefer to try and further damage our business with a spiteful review. I thought I was a good judge of character but did not see this review coming. Please accept my sincere apologies for not meeting with your expectations and I wish you both well. Kind Regards Richard

We stayed from Friday to Sunday. When we was walking to our room I knew it was not going to be what i had thought. Dated wallpaper, dirty old carpets Marks on the walls and this was before entering the room. The room again was dated. Wallpaper all scratched and just tired. The wardrobe had your tea making station so not really a wardrobe. The bathroom had a step down which I almost lost my footing, only to find the "mind the step" sign leaning up against the bedside table on the floor. Absolutely no use there. And it had not fell as it was leant up against the wall and side table. The bathroom was very dated with green suite with a white toilet seat that was not secure. It also stated this was a bath only room (which I did ask if we could be moved) but apparently you were fully booked. The rubbish bag was just put in the bin which I had to move myself and put right ( not that i wanted to be messing with the toilet bin) the bed was poor and old. You could feel the springs, the duvet cover had opening at the top to show very old duvets underneath. You could hear every footstep and every door slam. We also had to slam our door before it would actually close properly.it also stated that the rooms were cleaned and sanitized to protect customers, this was not the case as our room was far from clean, I ran my finger across the top of the bed headboard and it was thick with dust same as the shaving light in the bathroom and window sills. We had breakfast on the first morning, but was not explained that we needed to fill another form for the following day. We were told all the forms were in the room. But that wasn't a problem as the breakfast wasn't the best either. No paper plates included and no table to eat off so a bit difficult, and ended up back to back eating from the bedside table. I wished I had spoken to the lady at the reception today but didnt as even though I was stood waiting for my husband to come with the car, she made no attempt to say good morning or acknowledge I was even there. I have viewed the previous reviews now and only wish I had before as I would 100% not have stayed here. You have said for the last year an half if not longer that you are going to update things or look into this and that but personally I don't think any changes have been made. You will probably say why I didn't bring it to your attention on our stay, judging by the way you defend what people have to say I couldn't be bothered to argue the point with you. And the fact that the lady didnt even say morning even though I was stood there. She didn't even ask if I had enjoyed my stay etc etc.

Hi Many thanks for taking the time in writing this review following your recent stay and sorry that our 2 star hotel did not meet with your expectations. Please accept my apologies for the cleanliness issue that you encountered ie. the headboard, window sill and shaving light (this would have been an oversight on my behalf). We have been carrying out a significant amount of decorating over the years and as you can imagine with 24 rooms this is an ongoing task and the room that you stayed in is due to be decorated and will be once our occupancy levels drop. This has been hampered with our 4 month closure due to Covid 19 but we always do our best and we appreciate all feedback. Breakfast had to be served as a room service due to the government restrictions and we have done the best we can and feel that the offering of porridge, croissant, yoghurt, orange juice, tea, coffee, bacon bap, sausage bap and vegetarian bap was a good selection. I wouldn't have argued the point with you - I have been in the industry for 35 years and I accept that everyone has their own opinion and I am always happy to listen to that. We of course have our opinion and do what we feel is relevant which is not going to be to everyones taste. Once again sincere apologies for our shortcomings and not meeting with your expectations. Kind Regards Richard

My wife I stayed at the Albany from 16th to 20th March in room 23. But before my Hotel reveiw I must say that in a Hotelier I've never met such a sincere, helpful, pleasant and humourous man as Richard...top bloke and I also mention his Wife and lovely young helpers Amy and Mel. Now the Hotel our room was large overlooking the front of the Hotel with a double bed and a single bed The bathroom was disappointly on the small side but adequate with a bath and over head shower. basin and toilet, the bedding was clean and the bed comfortable and overall cleanliness was good, however some of the decoration was beginning to show it's age(maybe with this enforced closure Graham might have his brushes out) The meals provided were very enjoyable, full breakfast provided and a pre booked evening meal 3 course and a selection of 3 choices. Graham ran the bar of an evening and provided most of the entertainment of which he was more than capable of doing so with his personality. Tendy is a beautiful resort and we hope to return one day but we will aim for a sunnier period unlike our recent stay which was cloudy/foggy and rainy most of the time, but Graham and his staff provided the sunshine, thanks .

We stayed in room 20 over the weekend. Hotel is ideally situated with the beach and town a five minute walk away, The room had everything needed including spare towels and extra pillows if required. You can immediately tell that it is a family run hotel and and as such are treated as one of the family. Richard the owner works extremely hard and we fully appreciated this.
There is a pool table, bar and dart board in the lounge and also a soft seating area. The hotel itself was very clean, well presented and has character. Whether your booking to use as base camp or just a chill out, this hotel caters for both the young and old.
Overall a place to stay and we will definitely return in the not so distant future.

Stayed here for 2 nights and would definitely go back. Hosts were very friendly and welcoming, room (9) was clean and tidy and plenty of space for us. Strong Wi-Fi signal. Breakfast in the current Covid restrictions was continental/porridge/toast/rolls and was lovely, along with tea/coffee and juice. Everything was set out well in regards to social distancing with plenty of sanitizer and a one way system in place. Only about 5 minutes walk from town and the multi storey car park as there's no parking here. We paid £6 for 72 hrs. Lovely stay.. Thank you ☺️👍

Stayed here earlier this month as a weekend trip to Tenby, where we go at least once a year, probably more on average!
First time we've stayed at the Albany hotel, I assume the OYO chain have just bought the hotel and not bothered doing anything to it as everything in our particular room was so dated and falling apart.
Toilet didn't work, had to makeshift with the bin from the room to flush it! Wallpaper hanging off, missing tiles in bathroom, dodgy bath sealing etc.
We were in a triple room, the TV was on the wall next to the double bed, so had to go sit on the other single bed in the room to be able to see it, which I thought was an odd decision.
The breakfast bap was average and cheap, they did deliver at a specific time though which was good.
Staff were friendly but rarely to be seen, no one present on check in just a number to call.
The hotel location is great, very centrally located which is another plus point.
Overall the hotel has good credentials to be a decent hotel.... just needs a big renovation!

Hi Thank you for taking the time in writing this 3 star review following your stay earlier in the month. Really pleased to see that you thought our location is great and sorry that some areas of our 2 star hotel did not meet with your expectations. With regards to the hotel it is our family run hotel and OYO work in partnership with us managing the accommodation bookings. The hotel is dated in fact almost 200 years old but we work hard to maintain the decoration and furnishings within to the best of our ability and it has been tougher this year without any income to talk of until we were able to open on July 17th 2020 due to Covid 19. Some of the work that we need to do also would mean us having to take rooms 'off' which at this time is not viable due to it being such a short season, but we have priced ourselves very competitively to reflect this. The toilet in the room does work so unsure why you had to take these measures...the TV in the bedroom is on a swivel bracket and can be turned to face either the single bed, double bed or centrally for all to watch. Breakfast was a choice of porridge, croissants, yoghurts, fruit juice, tea/coffee sachets and hot bacon, sausage or vegetarian baps and I can assure you that the ingredients are not cheap and come from a local butchers in Narberth. Glad to see that you found us to be friendly and welcoming and due to the pandemic we are not always at the desk for our own safety but have a contact number and are available 24/7. Once again thank you for your valued feedback. Kind Regards Richard

Firstly, some of the reviews of late are unfair imo. The hotel never claims to be somewhere of luxury and people who have given it 1 star are probably not very reasonable people on the whole. Richard is a fantastic host and they've clearly gone to lots of effort to ensure covid doesn't get in the way of a nice time. The hotel is basic and if you're thinking of somewhere cheap in the middle of Tenby then this will serve you just fine. Our room was clean and we spent time on the south facing terrace in the evening getting some sunshine, chatting with other guests. Saved a lot of money doing this, rather than drinking in pubs which closed early because of Covid restrictions. I've stayed there previously and will have no dramas staying there again. If you want to go away to stay in your room and be a hotel inspector, this probably is not the hotel for you. But, if you're looking for somewhere with breakfast included and a base for you to explore Tenby and beyond and to rest your head at night, this will do just fine. I have no qualms about returning here and for the money, you can't go wrong. Lord knows I've stayed places in worse condition and for a higher price. Thank you Richard, much appreciated and see you again! Carla and Rob.

Thank you for supporting us and Tenby during Covid and we are so pleased that after 4 months of closure we can welcome guests once again. We look forward to welcoming you back in the future.
