Be careful when booking this hotel, they put up very good photos of the food available in the evening on their website. In reality this food is not available to residents when there is a coach booked in as we found out this week. They do not make you aware of this when booking and paying you find out when you arrive!!!!

Response from Ruth Watkins, General Manager at The Belgrave Hotel Tenby
Responded 16 Jun 2024
Hi there, thank you for taking the time to leave us a review! We do post lovely photos of our meals on our social media and website, we also post updates like restaurant closures which are currently in place with no confirmed re opening date. This isn't based on whether we have coach parties in or not, we just don't currently have the staff to open fully at the moment. We do apologise that the closure announcement was missed at this time and do hope you take the time to re visit when its back open to enjoy some of our wonderful food! Kind Regards

What we paid for vs. what we got, was utterly disappointing… The hotel and more specifically the bedrooms are very outdated. The Wifi did not even reach our room on the 3rd floor, which should be a basic included in any hotel stay these days - It honestly does not cost an arm and a leg to get wifi extenders installed. The TV is tiny. I’m dreading to think how stuffy it gets in the summer months with no Aircon and no way to open the windows to even let some fresh air in. The towels smelled like wet dog, which was also very off-putting. The view from the window was lovely though, that much I can say. Won’t be staying at this hotel again.

Stayed here on a coach trip holiday. Check in was quick and easy. On arriving at our room we did not have a sea view which we had paid for, I went down stairs and it was soon sorted. Had a great view of the sea and beach. The room defiantly needs updating. The carpet in the bed room was badly stained, there was carpet in the bathroom which is defiantly a NO NO this also needs updating, the sink is too big for the size of the bathroom. It rained one day and we had rain coming in through the window, had to put towels on the window sill, not sure what had happened to the big window as it was all scratched between the glass. The bedding and towels were snow white, there was plenty of drawer space but the rail in the wardrobe is a bit low as your trousers trailed on the bottom. The entrance to the hotel has been done up as has the dining room. There is a good choice on the menu but it gets a bit repetitive as it is the same menu every night with no chefs specials. The staff in the dining room are pleasant and work very hard. On the first evening meal we asked if tea/coffee was served and were told you had to get it from the bar which you have to pay for!!!!!! We found out later that they did serve it at the table. For some unknown reason there was no entertainment, not even a pack of cards or dominoes were provided. The drinks at the bar were quite expensive. There is a path that leads down to the beach and a cafe. The town is is a short walk away as are the local pubs. Would return to the hotel when it has been refurbished as it could be a fantastic hotel, so Max get some money spent lol

The Belgrave hotel is in a prime location with fantastic views of the beach and esplanade. The staff are friendly and helpful.
The bar and lounge areas were nice modern spaces.
The room 205 however was awful no bigger than a large cupboard with a very tired en suite. It was tired, in desperate need of decorating the furniture is old fashioned and way past it's best .We couldn't use the wardrobe because a bedside cabinet was in front of it with a tiny TV on it . Breakfast was eat all you can but it was left under hot lamps all the items were dried up and hard . One guest asked for a poached egg the chef flatly refused which I thought was odd surely any chef could whip up a poached egg in minutes .

Went in late June 2022 with two other couples so there were six of us on a coach trip with Gee Vee travel . The six of us Spent over £2,400 in total on this holiday . Bullit points of the issues we had 1 , coach late not even an apology 2, coach driver very unfriendly unless you were in his little gang we may as well have not been there 3, before we got of coach at hotel we were told we MUST get early breakfast or we would miss trips 4, chaotic check in had to wait to be called of course someone has to be last , it was us by the time it was our turn no early breakfast left told driver he grudgingly said he would leave at 10.15 just for us 5,room pokey only able to half open the wardrobe , behind toilet dirty ( was cleaned after we complained) dirty cracked window would only open about 4 inches . Room so small we could not pass each other. Chipped paint on all furniture. Lovely view of the kitchen roof and a car park . 6, offered a smaller room or one three floors up which we did not take 7 , menu same offering all week so no surprises at all 8 , staff dismissive of any issues we raised some dining room staff very good done downright rude . One particular morning we arrived five minutes before our sitting there were empty tables and one staff member was going to seat us , until another one rudely butted in and said no they are early 9, had to fetch our our toilet rolls , clean towels, tea and coffee rooms not serviced at all All in all we will not go with Gee Vee ever again or to the Belgrave hotel

Arrived Sunday 8th August 2022 coach trip holiday with David Ogden travel our driver Trevor lovely man had us laughing from start to finish. On arrival we were greeted by staff the downstairs area is very tasteful and beautifully decorated, check in was fast and our suitcases brought to our rooms in no time at all. Our room we had was 404 beautiful sea view but decor is very dated and in need of some TLC , on the other hand very clean with a comfy bed and fantastic pillows. On the downside carpet in the bathroom is a NO for me. Also not hotels fault as we were in Tenby on one of the hottest weeks of the year the room was extremely hot and sticky even with the fans provided by hotel. Food is excellent you get one menu with a lot of variations of choice gave you the chance to decide/plan for following day, recommending starter Creamy Garlic mushrooms OH MY!!! and the fish and chips £6 extra cost but well worth it as enough for 2 people to share. Full Welsh Breakfast was delicious all food came hot and on hot plates just as I like it. Staff a bit dizzy at times in restaurant but didn’t cause us much hassle, forgetting where they were up to but also very happy to please. Reception staff helpful the only thing I would say is we didn’t get our room serviced each day again not a big issue for us but would of liked to of been advised of this at check in, when we asked why our room had not been cleaned we were advised we should of been made aware of this by David Ogden’s? We could however get clean towels everyday, tea coffee, and liners for the bins, there was also a basket on every landing for used towels and rubbish. OVERALL: We had a lovely holiday and met some fantastic people who we now class as our friends, and would definitely return to this hotel again. Holidays are what you make them.

Very clean and comfortable. The staff were pleasant and helpful and the buffet breakfasts were all that anyone could ever want. The bar and lounge areas were particularly well appointed and the owners collection of clocks on the walls was interesting. We were in a top floor room with excellent views across the South beach. Despite some nasty weather, the double glazed, opening windows kept the noise of the storm outside! Access to central Tenby and the beaches was excellent. We will return.

Find another hotel to spend your well earned money on. £138 for a small double room on the third floor, albeit with a sea view. The hand basin sits next to the bed and the toilet and extremely small shower have been incorporated into a cupboard. While sitting on the loo your knees are in the shower and your feet rest on the shower mat. Don’t be on the large size or you will never fit in the cupboard. I’m not sure what’s above the room but clearly something is wrong with the floor boards The hotel should have more respect for their full Welsh breakfast. Don’t offer your guests a plate of food which has been cooked previously and left waiting until guests come down for breakfast. How can you allow this? The staff are all young and genuinely nice people. The stair carpets are so old and discoloured and the wi fi is non existent and yet the management say there is wi fi. A poor introduction to Tenby and Wales..why are you letting Tenby down, it’s a beautiful place. I’d like a refund but don’t suppose I will even get an acknowledgment to my review.

Response from Max Thomas, General Manager at The Belgrave Hotel Tenby
Responded 7 Aug 2021
Thank you for your comments. 304 is not a large room and I will give you that, the layout of all the rooms are dictated by the original Victorian proportions. When the building was built in 1876, although to mention it was not built as a hotel but three houses, there were no on suite facilities in any of the rooms. In approximately the 1970's all the rooms had en suite facilities added and some rooms accommodated that change better than others, so the shower and toilet were not incorporated into a cupboard, the cupboard as you refer to it was built around the toilet and shower. There is nothing wrong with the floor boards but the building is around 145 years old so there are squeaks etc. On the breakfast side we serve approximately 80 breakfasts every morning & our chefs are all very experienced, if you had mentioned what you were displeased about at the time we would have replaced it for you. I do not know if you are familiar with catering but some aspects of the breakfast are precooked in batches and hot held, sausages, fried bread, beans etc. Nothing is held for more than 30 min and eggs are always done fresh. If every breakfast was to be prepared from raw the wait time would be far too long and then we would get complaints that the service was too slow. The carpets were due for renewal last year but covid happened and we were far to busy trying to keep the business going and spending 20-30k on carpets when we did not know if we would ever open again was just simply not an option. We are replacing them in stages over the next two months. The wifi is only available on the ground floor ( the public areas ) and that is what we tell all our customers, we have never suggested that wifi is available in the bedrooms, as I stated above the building is three Victorian buildings combined and over 145 years old, some of the walls are three feet thick. On the ground floor alone we have ten wifi access points and the trouble we have with multiple devices of varying ages is unbelievable. Personally I have stood with customers who's phones will not connect to the wifi and who have sworn until they are blue in the face that this is unacceptable and disgusting and I should be ashamed but my old android phone connects to the wifi straight away. I am really not sure what your expectation was before arriving, we are not a 4 or 5 star hotel, we do not say we are one and we do not charge the same rate as a 4 or 5 star hotel. I am sorry you were not happy with us on this occasion & I wish you all the best for the future. Thanks Max

Just back from a 5 day coach holiday staying at this hotel. Great location on the cliffs overlooking a beautiful beach and 5 mins walk from the town centre. The bar, lounge and dining rooms are all quite modern and nicely furnished but it seems the renovations stop once you reach the stairs to the rooms. There is a lift but it stops on the stairs between floors so there are still a few stairs to negotiate, it was also out of order on the last day. My room was on the 2nd floor and was lovely and clean with nice white towels and bedding. The mattress was a bit lumpy with dips where many people had laid or sat. The TV wasn’t very good at all, most of the time the signal was so bad I could only get BBC 1 and that was intermittent. There was a kettle and tea, coffee and milk provided. There was also a hairdryer. The bedroom floor actually sloped away from the window towards the bed. The WiFi is quite good when you’re in the lounge but once you move away the connection disappears. There was no entertainment whatsoever. Most of the staff were lovely and very helpful. Just one waitress spoilt it and I had such a long wait for dinner one night that I gave up and left. I heard later that she had left her job. It was the same menu every day. All meals were served, no buffet style. Breakfast was a choice of cereal, fruit juice and a full English with tea/coffee and toast. The coffee was from a machine and the tea was just a cup with the tea bag in it. For the evening meal there was a choice of about 6 starters and the ones I had were very nice. There were around 10 choices for the main course and around 5 desserts. I was never offered tea or coffee after dinner. I was given a set dining time, which I assume was due to Covid. Breakfast was 7.40 and dinner 7.10.

As a family we had been visiting Tenby for over 20 years. The boys, both now adult, loved the location of the hotel in regards to the beach, the town centre and the harbour. My wife visited as a child in the 70s/80s and she was amused to find on our first visit around 2000 it was the same manager, who sadly passed away 2 or 3 years ago. He was always friendly and welcoming. IIRC his son is now manager.
The waiting and kitchen staff went above and beyond with regards to her dietary requirements as she is coeliac. The staff were always friendly and up for a quick chat and catch up. Now the boys have left home we tried one last visit - a Tinsel and Turkey week just before Covid Lockdown 1... it was a lovely trip down memory lane but didn't feel the same without the kids!!
On the downside, some of the rooms look a bit tired BUT it is a Victorian property so any renovations have to take this into account. The evening entertainment kept the kids happy for years - all Hail Billy G!!!
