We were only in Tenby for one night and so all we were really looking for was a comfortable bed and a good location, and we got both at No. 1 The Esplanade.

The location is great, right opposite the stunning Tenby beach and on the lovely Esplanade. There is a public car park a couple of minutes’ walk away and you can park there overnight (price £10 at the time of writing).

Our room wasn’t one of the best (a bit dated) but it was fine for one night and the bed was extremely comfortable so no complaints there. The breakfast room is bright and colourful and there was a good choice of breakfast items available.

Graham, the owner, is friendly and helpful.

This guest house is in a very good location. Town is so close by in walking distance and the beach is just few steps away, it's amazing. Lovely staff, we felt very much at home. Our room has recently been done up and is modern. It had Lovely sea view from the side windows. Breakfast has been hit and miss, some days we had cold breakfast some days nice and warm. Staff catered for us if they ran out of some of the items for breakfast, such as mushrooms etc, they exchanged for something else. Rooms are warm and cosy if you get cold there's is heater available and a fan if your to warm, there is a hair dryer and extra pillows if you need them. Our TV was playing up so we told the staff and they sorted it out by retuning the TV. Good price for the room we had, some features are old and dated but they are slowly redoing it up. We really enjoyed our stay.

Hosts were very pleasant and informed, location is ideal, on the cliff top close to beach ( steps down to beach) and town centre . Rooms clean newly redecorated a few minor details need attention but we’re being seen to 5he day we left.
Would book again.

The Esplanade Hotel is in the perfect location, on the Esplanade overlooking the sea, but also very close to the town centre and all the restaurants and bars.

However, the hotel itself is disappointing to say the least. The facade on the Esplanade was repainted a couple of years ago and looks very smart Unfortuntely the side of the hotel was not repainted and gives a better indication of the state of the hotel inside.

Our room had a large bay window providing wonderful views out over the sea and also views of St. Catherine's Island to the left and Caldey Island to the right. The owner (who bought the hotel about 3 years ago) told us that apparently our room will be the best room in the hotel once it has been completely refurbished. The problem was it hadn't been refurbished and we were paying £140 a night for a very tired, tatty and grubby room. It felt like hotel rooms were 30 years ago, which is probably when it was last redecorated.

The room was lacking the most basic things including an information folder, which would have been useful when the fire alarm went off one morning as there was no information on where to go /assemble.

The hotel wi-fi was next to useless, made all the more frustrating by the fact Tenby seems to be a 'cold spot' for the internet, so internet access of any sort was very limited.

The breakfast was equally disappointing, undercooked bacon and fried eggs and cold toast.

Thank you for your review. Clearly you have no idea of what has been completed here. The front wall is not repainted as you suggested, it is infact a new wall costings in access of £50,000. I think enough said here with regards your word’s written, go elsewhere, your certainly not welcome here. Regards Graham

This was our second stay at this hotel. Disappointed with the cleaning I spoke to the housekeeper the first day of my stay and she explained that they were short staffed and apologised for rooms not being very clean. I showed her the bathroom and she said she would come back and clean it later. However she didn't come. Our bins weren't emptied or beds changed we were there for 6 nights and only had clean towels once.

We had 5 rooms booked at No1 The Esplanade. What a fantastic experience enjoyed by us all. Host Graham and his wife were superb! Cant honestly thank them enough.
Breakfast was a well laid out selection of fresh fruits, cereal and the choice of hot foods from full English to salmon and scrambled eggs on toast. All were sampled, all were delicious.
All the rooms were spotless, spacious and had coffee and tea facilities along with ironing board, fan etc. A home from home! With a view.

We love Tenby and stay there regularly. Our children take past in the Iron Man event and we usually stay the week in Airbnb. We also have a week there every May and another week for what is called the Iron Man Long Weekend. We have also stayed in several hotels in this beautiful part of Wales. Saying that the Esplanade for us comes out as the best place we have stayed hotel wise.Don’t be taken in by any negativity. Graham the proprietor is one of the calmest nicest gentleman you can wish to meet. Here you get the best breakfast in Tenby.Fresh fruit which is unheard of in most places, yoghurt and a delicious cooked breakfast. The hotel is also ideally situated overlooking south beach and Caldy Island. Its a stones throw from the centre of town and twenty metres from steps that take you onto the beach.Rooms are sizeable clean well presented and ours had a king size bed a first for us anywhere in Tenby.
Would I stay there again- most definately. We live an hour and twenty minutes away so whenever we want to recharge our batteries in the most beautiful town in Wales this is the hotel we would go to.It is also the cheapest hotel. Price comparisons prove this.It is one of the few that breakfast is included, cheaper than Airbnb or B&B’s.
I take my hat off to Graham and his hard working staff. For us it was top draw we had a perfect weekend and would definitely recommend the Esplenade.A lovely place.

Lovely welcome, overlooks the sea from the front and part of the fir arches from the side so exceptional position. No car park but one a few minutes away which was extremely reasonable for our three day stay.

Our room was spotless and had everything we required including tea/ coffee equipment.

The bed and pillows were lovely and soft and felt very luxurious, making it easy to sleep well.

Breakfast is served in the in-house coffee shop and there was loads of choice for the most discerning of people.

There are lots of restaurants and public houses close by and on the next beach over there are numerous boat trips, including fishing on offer.

One tip I would offer is to book your chosen restaurant for evening meal in advance as they get booked up very quickly.

Tenby suits all ages and I am looking forward to our next visit very soon

Couldn’t believe how close this was to Tenby’s south beach steps. We were lucky to find a free car parking spot on the esplanade and didn’t move the car for 5 days. Don’t park in the dotted lines as those spaces are reserved for residents and you will be fined. The room (14), was on the first floor and had beautiful views of Caldey island. The owner, Graham said the room will be renovated in Jan 2022 and it was looking a bit tired in places with stains on the chairs and also the carpet was a bit rough. The bathroom was also looking tired but it has the potential to be amazing when the work can get done. Tea, coffee and uht milk were refreshed each day but there was no linen changes for the 5 days. Think we had fresh towels though and the bins were always emptied. Think this has become quite a common theme during Covid times. The breakfast was great with a choice of smoked salmon or full English for the main course. I did have a bit of trouble sleeping because the mattress was a lot firmer than I am used to but guess that will suit some people. It’s great to see people like Graham taking on these projects and I’m sure he will reap the rewards in the future.

Went here for two nights as a couple in March 2024. The hotel was clean, location is superb and staff were polite and helpful. Breakfast isn't huge but was very tasty and service was good. Hotel is a little dated and could do with some updating. When walking through the hotel we could see into some of the rooms when they were being cleaned and they did look lovely. However, ours was small and did needed a freshen up. It wouldn't put me off and I would return to the hotel. Only given it 4 stars as it does need decorating and updating.

Hi There’s a car park we used called Five Arches Car Park. I think it was £8. I remember parking up about 3pm and getting back to the car about 8am next day. It’s literally a 3 min walk to The Esplanade. Postcode for SatNav: SA70 7HZ
