Myself & husband came here to celebrate his birthday. We arrived early to use the spa at 1pm and were very fortunate that our room was ready on arrival. We had a lovely room with a balcony, flower petals on the bed & swans made out of towels which was a nice touch. The room was quite small but had everything we needed & was clean.
Staff are very polite, friendly & attentive so couldn’t fault the staff at all.
We went to the spa, again quite small but lovely place with indoor and outdoor hot tub. We found the outdoor hot tub better so spent some time there relaxing. Nice comfortable relaxation beds in the spa which were lovely to lie on. Evening meal was included in our package to the value of ÂŁ32 each. The food was freshly cooked, hot and absolutely stunning. Very friendly staff in the restaurant also.
Breakfast was cooked fresh to order, tasty and hot and very fresh, lovely furnishings and deco in the hotel. The online checking in and check out is really easy to use and very convenient. Thanks you.

We stayed for two pleasant days in this charming but quirky hotel. The receptionists were exceptionally pleasant and friendly and helpful. The hotel is pretty and comfortable. The pool is indoors but with a glassed in extension that provides plenty of light. The breakfast was excellent, with both hot and cold selections.

The quirks:

1) You have to select particular time slots ahead of time to use the pool, which we had never experienced at any of the dozens of hotels we’ve stayed in before. It was difficult to know days ahead when we might want to swim. . That said, we had no trouble getting the times we wanted once we arrived at the hotel. I do think people should be warned about this before making any nonrefundable reservations. And this quirk probably makes the hotel unsuitable for children, who usually would not understand why they can’t go to the pool. Also, this is not a “splash around and have fun” kind of pool. It’s more suitable for quiet adults - which is great if you’re a quiet adult.

2) The three-quarters of a mile walk from town was a little difficult because often the road had no shoulder at all.

3) The WiFi was spotty.

Dear Guest, Thank you for your positive review. The whole team strives to deliver a great experience for all of our guests and, naturally, it is pleasing to read that your stay was an enjoyable one. Thank you for your comments regarding the friendliness of our staff and the quality of breakfast. We do politely ask our guests to book their slots in the spa so that we can manage the amount of people using it at any given time. This so that we can ensure that everyone has the opportunity to use all of the facilities provided, and prevent overcrowding. That being said, we always to try to be as flexible as possible so that we can accommodate everyone at their preferred times. I am sorry that you experienced inconsistencies with the wifi whilst you stayed with us, we will certainly look into this. Thank you once again for your review, and we hope to welcome you back again soon. Kind regards, Sean Sutton Deputy Hotel Manager Heywood Spa Hotel

Staff were so accommodating at every step. The hotel was lovely and peaceful with a beautiful spa and restaurant. We loved the breakfasts and would definitely recommend their afternoon tea. Although it’s a bit further from the harbour, you can easily catch a bus down into town if you don’t want to drive or the hotel can arrange a taxi for only £5.

Let’s get the good parts out the way first. Room was very good, hotel cleanliness is very good. Now for the rest. This is a so called spa, it’s a small pool with a jacuzzi (back wash needed due to scum floating on surface) and a sauna. The steps to the jacuzzi need repair and are an accident waiting to happen, the treatments are very pricey for the length of time offered. Bar area is lovely but the food is well below average, a so called beef bourguignon, was majorly overpriced and it wasn’t rich enough to be classed as a beef bourguignon. It was more of an average beef stew. The fish and chips I could get better from a frozen fish from a supermarket and the chips had lots of bad parts on them. The so called mushy peas wasn’t really mushy peas at all. And for the cost of a 2 course meal I could have had a 3 course meal at miller and carter. And can’t say it’s due to hotel being busy as it wasn’t busy at all. And although booked a table on first evening, to be then asked if we were eating out as we hadn’t been to the restaurant other nights. Overall not great

We booked the spa facilities due to the weather forecast, so at £150 per night, was very disappointed to find issues, spa was waiting for a part, the pool was freezing,I didn't even go in, the sauna not got at all, when we asked there reply was there's one outside that works?? It was heavy wind and rain 🙄.
2 ladies in reception we spoke to were friendly and helpful.
Room 302 with dressing area, 2 singles pushed together to make a big bed, which was a bit soft for us, my partner back was aching in the morning. The bathroom was tiny.
We tried to open the windows in the bedroom area and dressing room, but there was no catch to hold them, so we had to keep them closed.
For the size of the room the t.v was small, coffee and tea available and a bottle of water.
Breakfast was nothing special, sausages tasteless, there was a fly around the pastries, staff unfriendly.
On leaving we spoke to the lady about the issues, but really didn't seem bothered.
We are hoping someone contacts us regarding the matter, it definitely wasn't worth ÂŁ150 per night
We will not be returning.

Dear Guest, Thank you for sharing your feedback in relation to your recent stay with us. I am sorry that you encountered some shortcomings. Thank you for bringing the issue of the pool temperature to our attention. We maintain a temperature of 30 degrees in the pool, however on the day you used the facilities this had dropped to 27 degrees. As soon as we were alerted to the issue, we increased the temperature accordingly. We use zip-lock mattresses in some of our rooms so that they can be allocated as both double and twin categories. This is fairly standard practice in lots of hotels, however I am sorry that the mattress was too soft for your liking. We will certainly ask our maintenance staff to deal with the issue with the window. Thank you for alerting us to this. It is disappointing to read that you felt the staff in the restaurant were unfriendly, as it is the intention of the whole team to provide memorable and friendly customer service, which we pride ourselves on, and it not very often, if at all, we receive comments such as this. Naturally, I am sorry you encountered issues during breakfast service. We are an independent, family-run business, always learning and growing, and we are always grateful for all feedback, both positive and negative. I am sorry to hear that you will not be returning. However, should you have a change of heart, I would be happy to offer you a complimentary upgrade to an executive room, meaning you will pay for a classic room but will stay in the upgraded room category. Please contact me directly should you wish to do this so that I can deal with your reservation personally. Kind regards, Sean Sutton Deputy Hotel Manager Heywood Spa Hotel

My husband and I have just got back from a fantastic stay at Heywood Spa Hotel and I couldn't wait to review them as I was so impressed with our stay. We stayed for two nights in a double room. The room was very clean and comfortable with a small outside seating area which was nice to have as the weather was good so we could sit outside. The staff were exceptional, nothing was too much trouble, helping wherever they could. Although we didn't have an evening meal in the restaurant (we definitely will next time) the restaurant was used for breakfast, which ran like clockwork, polite helpful staff, excellent food, tables cleared and relaid quickly and quietly. My husband had a full cooked breakfast each morning, and I had kippers one morning and smoked haddock and poached egg the next. Both were excellent.
Stylish modern decor with plenty of quiet "chillout" areas. A lovely pool and jacuzzi with adjoining conservatory and a hot tub outside.
We will 100% stay again. Thank you to all the staff for an outstanding visit.

Can't tell you how disappointed we were with our 3 night stay. This is our 5th stay at the hotel and have always loved it hence why we always book here for our holiday in Tenby. We asked to have supper in the lounge so we didn't disturb the rest of the diners in the restaurant because our two year old can be lively! They begrudgingly let us but we were made to feel like it was a pain. Every other time we have stayed they have gone out of their way to do a smaller meal for our daughters but this wasn't possible this time. The pool is fab but the hot tub had a really strong smell of chemicals and actually left bleach 'like' marks on my swimming costume. When booking the room it stated a double bed but was infact 2 single beds pushed together-very uncomfortable. The water pressure in the shower wasn't great.
Breakfast was disappointing I had salmon and scrambled eggs(eggs tasteless) but the salmon made up for it however the following morning I had received just enough salmon to cover the muffin and double the amount of egg!
It's such a shame as we have always loved staying here with our family but I don't think we'll be booking again. The staff were fab as ever.

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to review your stay at Heywood Spa Hotel, and of course, for your repeated custom which we are so very grateful for. I'm sorry that you felt that this stay did not live up to your previous visits to the hotel and that you encountered some shortcomings. We, as a team, believe wholeheartedly in going the extra mile for our customers. It is one of our core values as a business and it's something that guests repeatedly acknowledge in our reviews. I apologise that you felt that we fell short of these standards. Eating in the lounge area and providing a small meal for your young children is something that should have been no problem for us to action. Indeed, we have children's menu with a variety of dishes to chose from. I am sorry that your swimming costume was left stained after using the hot tub. We carry out tests on the water in the swimming pool and hot tubs every 2 hours to ensure the chlorine levels are correct and we send samples of the water to be independently analysed on a weekly basis. Again, I apologise profusely that your breakfast fell short of the standards we expect and your comments will certainly be addressed with the kitchen team in order to ensure that these mistakes are rectified moving forward. Our restaurant team are more than happy to listen to, and try to rectify any complaints at the time they occur. Thank you once again for your valued feedback as this helps us learn and grow as a business. I do hope that you would consider staying with us again on your next visit to Tenby so that we have the opportunity to put right our shortcomings. Should you decide to book with us again please contact me directly on bookaroom@heywoodspahotel.co.uk so that I can deal with your reservation personally. A nice hotel to stay. The rooms are spacious and equipped with a safe, coffee/tea making facilities, ironing board, iron, etc. Very complete.

The hotel also has a restaurant, lobby, bar, swimming pool, hairdresser and wellness. It took us some time to get used to having to reserve a time for the pool, but we found that this is common practice in Great Britain. It was to ensure that the pool wouldn't get too crowded. There were also plenty of times available.

We also had dinner in the restaurant a few evenings and we really enjoyed it. The food tasted good and the staff was friendly.

Beautifully presented hotel. Restaurant food is superb, very high standard of presentation and taste. Lovely surroundings and atmosphere in the restaurant and bar area. Breakfast was delicious; the highlight for me being a lovely selection of freshly baked pastries, constantly being replenished by the staff. Had a delightful Prosecco afternoon tea, again beautifully presented and freshly prepared, with great friendly service. Everywhere is spotlessly clean and well maintained. Staff are all delightful and eager to help and make you feel welcome. Wished I had paid more for a bigger room when booking, as the room was very small with only one chair and one luggage rack for two people. Carmen on reception was very happy to help organising an extra chair to be brought into the room temporarily when it was needed. Very limited choice of just instant coffee and plain tea bags on hospitality tray, which doesn’t seem enough for four stars, so I would recommend taking your own hot chocolate, speciality tea bags etc to supplement it. The room was a little disappointing as it was not up to the standard shown in many of the photographs, even though I didn’t think I had chosen the cheapest option. The bed was lovely and comfy with good quality pillows and bed linen, and the towels were soft and fluffy. The room was heated by hot air blowing from the air conditioning which I found uncomfortable, particularly at night when it kept waking me up, so had to be switched off. I would definitely recommend careful choice of room and upgrading if possible. Despite this I would highly recommend this hotel if you are going to choose a superior room. All things considered it was a lovely welcoming stay in Tenby at a beautiful hotel.

Positives- the hotel and rooms are modern and look lovely. They are comfortable and clean. The pool area was good and we enjoyed use of a pool and jacuzzi. The restaurant was very good and provided good vegetarian options both at tea and breakfast. The waiting staff in the restaurant were friendly and efficient.

Negatives- on arrival we didn’t feel particularly welcomed. There are many references to Anish on other reviews but we stayed here a week and have no idea who Anish is. The location of the hotel was alright but not great. It is in a residential area and took about 20 min walk to get to the beach. For this hotel being a 4 star we felt that we were left to do everything ourselves. For example, asking for toilet paper, towels and a toilet brush as one was not provided. This made me feel very uncomfortable. The room was only serviced once. I understand that there are restrictions due to Covid, however if they cannot enter a room due to Covid why is it safe to open a restaurant and the spa to the public (making money?). There was also no full length mirror in one of the rooms and this made getting ready on a night difficult. There were not many drying facilities so we had lots of soggy beach clothes on our trip home. On entering one of the rooms, there was a damp smell. On complaining about this some air fresheners were put in the room and this did help. Although breakfast was good, there were a few times where our order was completely wrong.

Overall- this place has the potential to be a great place as it looks lovely and is very modern and stylish. However, the location wasn’t great and having to ask for things everyday made me feel very uncomfortable here.

Dear Guest, Thank you for your comments in regard to your recent stay with us. We really appreciate constructive feedback so thank you for taking the time to discuss areas where we can improve. I am sorry that you felt uncomfortable during your stay with us. As Wales is still at alert level 0, it is still a legal requirement that as a business we must complete and adhere to Covid Risk Assessments, which for Heywood Spa Hotel means not offering your room to be serviced daily. This was explained in your Health Declaration email and also in your welcome letter but I am sorry if this was not clear enough. The Reception and Housekeeping team are able to replenish and assist at any point in your stay but I appreciate you would have preferred not to ask. Should you have asked to speak to me, I would have been more than happy to discuss any issues with you. I was certainly at the hotel for the duration of your stay. We do hope that you would consider staying with us again, we are continually growing as a business and hope to be able to improve the necessaries as required. The pool and out door headed pool area is a dream. Ours loved having the place to them selves. The staff are very friendly and while the hotel is not madly set up for large numbers of children, it is a family friendly hotel and they will look after and want your kids to have the best holiday. Once the kids are good mammered and respectful to all. We found our kids got chatting to all different nationals. Ythe gentleman painting there gave each of the a 5 and that made their day ... they Brough him back some sweets. Its the little things.
