It was very relaxing with a spacious room and beautiful views of Caldey Island in the distance and sheep nearby.
Delicious breakfast and nice conversation with Peppa. Near Tenby, good base for Pembroke castle and St Davids. Parking is easy. Recommended.

We recently had a great few days staying here. Lovely building with a fabulous guest lounge. Hosts are really attentive and helpful with respect to things to see and do in the area. Breakfast was first class. Overall a brilliant place to stay.

I wouldn't normally review somewhere so soon but then this guest house was so exceptional I didn't want to wait another moment before sharing my thanks.

As someone who normally stays in big brand hotels or self catering properties this was such a fantastic experience. My parents had stayed here previously a few years ago and were keen to return as soon as possible. When they asked me if I wanted to join them this time I took all of 2 seconds to say "yup". Who wouldn't want a trip to Tenby?

As is always the way when you expect heavy traffic, there was none and so we arrived earlier than our check in time. Despite this we were greeted at the door by the wonderful Pippa and Helen and welcomed in to their beautiful home.

Whilst we waited for the finishing touches to be made getting our rooms ready we happily sat in the lounge and were offered copious amounts of DELICIOUS homemade cakes and biscuits with tea. Once our rooms were ready we unpacked and then chatted with our hosts some more before venturing in to Tenby - a very short taxi ride away.

Despite Tenby obviously being such a nice part of the country we were never in a huge rush to leave the guest house, such was the high level of comfort and hospitality we received.

Nothing was too much trouble for our hosts and we were made to feel very much at home. My bed was blissfully comfy and I slept like a big, bald, bearded baby every night. The only problem was that I had a stunning view of the night sky from my window and being a keen stargazer I so wanted to look at all the stars and planets (not to mention the Perseid meteor shower of course) but after 10 minutes of being on my comfortable bed I was out like a light (and no doubt snoring like a wild boar).

The breakfasts? Well, what can be said that really does its undeniable deliciousness justice? The first breakfast was incredible (I THOROUGHLY recommend the St Lawrence full hot breakfast) and with some of the freshest, tastiest home-baked bread I've ever had with home made preseves. The next day I rocketed down for more and again on the third morning. We all enjoyed so much. My folks looked on in amazement and wonder at the amount of food I managed to consume. Set us up prefectly for the day ahead.

Thank you so much to Pippa, Phillip (get well soon) and Helen for a wonderful stay and making us feel so welcome. We look forward to visiting again in the future.

it was a nice big room but for the size, the tele was too small and far away. as we knew there was no food served after breakfast we brought food back the first night and was told not to, we had to buy choclate and pop out of the 'honesty box' which had their price stickers more expensive than what was priced on the cans.
the breakfast was nice although the bread was a bit hard and there was only so many times we could have been offered more. we only had breakfast once as we were awake till gone 2am in the nights due to the large amount of flies and the room being very cold.
the en-suit was a little small but the towels were nice (egyptian cotten) as we were told many times.
we only stayed 2 of the 4 nights in the end as we didn't want it to spoil the celebration at the end of the week.
we won't be staying there again, as we like privacy when we're away not people knocking on the door every two minutes.

Response from Gumfreston, Owner at St. Lawrence Country Guest House

I am sorry that we had to ask you to leave after 2 days but smoking in the room as we told you is not allowed and also against the law. The haze and the smell of roll-ups in the room mixed with the smell of fast food takeaways impregnated everything. (As we said we would have been only too pleased to set you a dinning table for you to use.) We were not able to let the room for over two weeks. We had to launder everything and sent the drapes to be dry cleaned. We did manage to retrieve the two ‘’Egyptian cotton’’ bath sheets from the locker of the leisure centre where they were left by you, but we could not get the stains out of one of them so had to throw it away. We hope you at least recognise the efforts we made in one, refunding you in full for the two days you did not stay, even though we incurred costs as described above and two, as you do not have a car, the several lifts we gave you from the train station, to and from Tenby Town and lastly to your new B & B with your luggage (also returning with items you forgot). We would like to thank you however, for the fact that we did not realise that you can reply to comments on Trip Advisor, so we would like now to thank all our previous guests for all there very kind and heart warming remarks they have made. Thank you all very much.

My time at this bed and breakfast was one I would rather forget. Directions were not clear and it was not in the centre of town so had to get a taxi out of town. Phil and pippa were not understanding at all. My weekend was downhill from there. The breakfast was terrible and the room cramped. I will not be going back and I don't recommend it.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the St Lawrence County Guest House. Russell and Yvonne were marvelous and served a delicious breakfast each morning. They use produce and eggs from their own gardens and hens and other locally sourced foods whenever possible. This extra step was evident throughout the guest house. Our beds were very comfortable and the toilet and shower/bath were well-equipped. The property was spotless. We highly recommend this property!

5 star service
We expected a very good guest house but what we got was fantastic hospitality. We had the most wonderful breakfasts with Phillip's freshly made bread, a different one every day and an unbelievable choice of cereals and fruit, yogurts and homemade marmalades, jams and honey. And of course a cooked breakfast. No need for lunch. We were helped with our walking routes, adapted by Pippa to suit our physical limitations. We don't like climbing hills! We were encouraged to use one of the choice of sunscreens laid out in the hall. All our rooms were different, and each one had everything in it that we could want. Even fresh milk in the fridge. Comfy beds with lovely linen and a massive choice of pillows. And at the end of a tiring day, we were offered tea and homemade cakes, Welsh cakes, buttered Bara Brith, homemade biscuits....heaven! All served in a comfortable lounge. I can't recommend this lovely place enough.

Phil and Pippa do their utmost to ensure that you have everything you need even typing out directions to the restaurant for us. House and grounds are beautiful. Views over the fields to Tenby and Caldey island. May sure you take a walk around the grounds. The honesty bar is a nice idea and has some interesting local beers if you fancy a nightcap before turning in. Phil's breakfast quality and selection are the best. Definitely a couple's rather than family B&B but close to Tenby and to nearby attractions such as Heatherton and Oakwood.

What an amazing place to stay! The location is stunning, the breakfast was delicious, the rooms were well appointed and pristine, and the hospitality provided by Philip and Pippa was very friendly, helpful and informative. The 5 star rating does not do it justice!

Hi I don’t suppose you have room for a family of 4 (parents & young teen kids) this Sat 8th - 11th? Thanks Sarah
Answer from Pippa W
Tenby, United Kingdom
My husband and I own St Lawrence Guest House. Regarding the questions from "Lankylass":St Lawrence House has got plenty of parking, mostly in front of the house but there is also additional parking at the lower level at the side of the house. St Lawrence is 1.5 miles from Tenby, and Tenby itself has 4 beaches. Although technically feasible to walk from St Lawrence House to the beach, it isn't practical and not advised as there is no footpath alongside the road, and cross-country is marshland which can be quite boggy. It will take you no more than 10 minutes to drive to South Beach Car Park, park up and get on the sand, though!
