Perhaps you might be put off reading a few reviews about this hotel, because it does mainly cater for coach parties - and obviously their clients are of a more senior age (like the age of the hotel which is nearly 150 year old). But what difference does age make? It certainly wasn't a drawback during my stay, with dance...

We have just returned from our Alfa Tour to Ilfracombe. The Imperial is a very old "lady" nearly 150 years old but I was impressed with the standard of the hotel from the decoration of the bedrooms and lounges to the carpets underfoot. The lift which can hold six people at a pinch was very smooth and quiet. We requested...

Arrived on a self-drive 5 day break through Alpha Travel on 5th October and found the reception staff very polite and helpful as were all the staff. I had a single room which was a decent size with tea and coffee making facilities but only a very small tv which had terrible reception. The décor is dated and needs smartening...

Tea & coffee in the room, with a decent MUG, no small cups here Handy for touring North Devon. I had problems with a mobile phone signal,...

So there are some bad points...wifi is only available in the lobby, the hotel and particularly the room is a bit tired, flooring squeeked above us when the guests upstairs moved around early in the morning. However for 100 pounds for 2 people for 2 nights in a double room it isnt bad. We were able to park outside the...

This was a good choice of hotel by our tour company, Isle of Wight tours. On arrival, the manager came on to the coach to welcome us to the hotel and give us info about meal times etc and check in was quick and efficient. The rooms were clean, nicely furnished with a spotless, modern shower room. Good choice of...

I drive coaches on holiday tours, and have just spent 3 nights at the Imperial. It is very central and the staff are exceptionally helpful. Changing meal times to suit my group's requirements was not a problem. I was impressed by the restaurant - how the chef and his/her staff served the multitude so fast is a mystery, and the...
