Came for walking and needed a place to stay. The Star Hotel is clean, has friendly staff and a nice breakfast. Nothing is super special or absolutely fantastic. The hotel is certainly past its best days but it is cheap and in a good spot for exploring the local hills.

The staff were very friendly, our room was very clean with tasteful decor and our bed was comfortable. Rates were very reasonable, breakfast was good with a decent choice and the var was welcoming. However, our room could have had some of the pipes boxed in and the bathroom badly needed to be updated. We don't mind a shower over... More

Stayed here with friends after a long day hiking. Was fine for us as just wanted somewhere cheap close to where we were hiking. Hotel clean enough but very dated and could do with upgrade. Receptionist was very friendly. Breakfast was OK but would have preferred if beans came with the cooked breakfast. Only real issue for me was that... More

Such a shame that this hotel has been neglected and is in desperate need of a bit of TLC. Almost every floor board creeks, mould on the wall next to shower, hot water tap on sink does not work, shower water trickles out and takes an age to get warm, very little space to move and no where to leave... I'd like to take some time talk about my phenomenal experience at 'The Star'. Okay, so on the outside it's an older property and could do with a little tlc, but we all know that takes huge amounts of money - and even then the upgrades would not be to everyone's taste!!! So instead I'd like to review the personal... More

While the hotel is a little old fashioned and tired looking, it was outstanding value for money with everything you need to be comfortable including big soft towels and hairdryer. The welcome was very warm and friendly and the service excellent. The only slight gripe was poor water pressure in the shower in my second floor room

We are pleased you found the Star outstanding value for money and the welcome warm and friendly and the service excellent. Hopefully this made up for the slightly dated look. Sorry about the water pressure we will have to look into that! Thank you for taking the time to write such a nice review and we look forward to welcoming... More
