We went on coach trip for 4 days and stayed at The Burlington hotel which is in a very good location just a couple of minutes to beach. We were given a room with a double bed and a single although we booked a double. Room looked directly onto a brick wall and had the smallest en suite and smallest shower cubicle, in avocado. We had asked for a quiet room and this we got. Towels were large and fluffy, plenty of hangers and drawers. Food was british, good quality and plentiful, the evenng mains being ordered at breakfast. We had a drinks package with coupons valid 6pm to 9pm, bar opened to 11pm. There is an enclosed rear garden with tables and chairs for relaxing after evening meal. Evening entertainment is club style with bingo at 9pm. The hotel staff are very friendly and soon replaced a faulty hair dryer. Easy walk from Sandown to Shanklin and bus to Ventnor. We had a lovely time. …
misleading advertising. The website claims that it is 'refurbished' which is false. The room was ok but the bathrooms are ancient relics of the 80's with mould rust and avocado units. Had I known this I would not have booked with them at all, and the price is clearly inflated for what it is. We booked two rooms direct via the website and they messed up the booking saying there was only one booked. Sarah the owner was unapologetic. She even suggested going to booking.com to find another hotel and she did not care. I also observed that any queries from guests were treated by the owner as a nuisance and shake of the head behind their back. it seems they thought it was a mistake to book two rooms and cancelled one but decided to keep both deposits. They gave us a second room which is claimed to be an upgrade (family room), but this was worse than the other room - poor lighting and cramped up compared to the other with the awful rusted mouldy and tiny bathroom for what is meant to be an upgraded family room. Room service was not done daily as claimed. Breakfast is charged extra but even after paying the service is awful. There is only a window between 9-930 for breakfast and they start packing up early. The breakfast room had no other guests at this time and One of the young boys working there was a bit loud and chatty to his mate so we could not eat in peace. It seems that priority is given to the coach tours who have their breakfast earlier and seems to be the main focus of the hotel. There is loud entertainment until late at night which was very loud from our room so not suitable for families. Very poor value for the price. Will not stay there again.…
Arrived at the Hotel late Friday afternoon First impressions from the outside were Fresh and clean with beautiful hanging baskets, we found a onsite parking spot and headed to reception, where we were greeted with a warm friendly smile from the owner Sarah, she quickly checked us in and gave me directions and the key to our room, we were asked if we managed to get onsite carparking, as this is limited. Hotel reception was clean and modern looking. Our room was on the ground floor and was a deluxe double, with a beautiful bay window, again new carpets seating area, wide flat screen T.V, mini fridge, Tea, coffee making facility's, separate open wardrobe area, draw space, bathroom was very clean with new toilet and walk in shower, brand new bedding and towels, if there was one niggle it would be a lack of a mirror over the dressing table, all though the room had a massive mirror on the adjacent wall. Breakfast was self service, with plenty of choice, tea, coffee, juice, toast, jam, marmalade right up to the full English, everything being regularly replenished, waiting staff were friendly and polite, though I was told finding staff is quite a problem in the hospitality sector due to staff moving on to other Employment because of lockdown, we found all staff were willing to help and nothing seemed to be too much trouble for them, there is a bar area with plenty of seating and entertainment nightly, including bingo. Overall we had a fantastic stay, Sarah, Paul and team have done a brilliant job after taking over the hotel and giving it a new lease of life, Sarah told me they have not finished modernising the hotel and there's still plenty to do, the swimming pool is closed this season due to on going work and there's still a couple of rooms that need bringing up to there high standards, it's clear they have a vison to bring the Burlington back, and is probably one of the best hotels in the area after many have failed to bounce back after the pandemic. We will definitely be returning to this hotel, the location is just minutes from the beach, shops, restaurants and bars.…
Positives first the food was very good both breakfast and evening meals for the duration of our stay . Bed comfortable apart from the soft pillows (my opinion) and made daily . We had a door out into the garden near the bar. Reception area and out front very tidy Tea coffee and biscuits in the room daily Breakfast...just like a free for all as everyone had only an hour to eat (staff shortages apparently) With us being near the bar area everyone was having to push past and queue near us for toast cereals and hot drinks goodness knows how nobody got a hot drink spilt down them it's a miracle Knives forks and spoons over near the hot food queue this would be much better somewhere in the middle of the restaurant Room...quilt cover marked on the top looked like blood from us getting there Very dated bathroom and with me being 6 foot couldn't sit properly on the toilet but on the plus side could wash my feet when there Room not cleaned properly a biscuit wrapper was under the side of the bed and crumbs on the carpet all through our stay. Mirror dirty Board on the back of the door for the cleaner to tick cobwebs was ticked I think it was to say there was one over half of the bathroom window for our full stay tiles and pipework filthy down the side of the shower needs blocking in…
Me and my family stayed here for a week and we absolutely loved everything about the hotel. The rooms were updated and clean. There was room service each day to clean the beds. The breakfast was self service but it was still warm and good selection of cooked breakfast. I would add some more continental breakfast eg. muffins, yogurt etc. The dinner was just as good with the menu changed daily with soup of the day and two other starters, main consisted of two meat, one veg and one fish and each day there were approx. 5 different desserts. There was also a children's menu for any children who may not want anything off the main menu. Even though we had some residents finding petty thoughts I and my family thought Sarah and everyone did a great job. This would definitely be on my list of hotels to go to next year! Thanks for a great stay!!…
I stayed at the Burlington hotel last week with GB Tours and really cannot understand the 5 star reviews which had encouraged me to go there. Outside the hotel looks attractive and the room was clean and had been refurbished apart from the bathroom. This was our first disappointment on seeing an ancient avocado suite with a toilet that had a cracked base, loose handle and constantly running cistern. Secondly on going in to the dining room we found the tables were much too closely packed together and the breakfast buffet table and toaster was directly behind us which meant we felt crowded in in the morning and we could not stand the heat from the rotating toaster. We had been warned about low staffing levels and delays in the dining room so waited patiently at night to be served. Food was pre-ordered in the morning and served pre-plated which should have helped to speed up service but the staff were clearly untrained and unsupported. After the third day of realising that other tables were being served before the group of tables around us I queried this with a waiter and he advised that our tables did not have a waiter and that he would not be back tomorrow as it was too stressful. The choice of food was good but the quality and temperature were not. Vegetables were overcooked with grey looking cauliflower and cabbage and never hot. The only two items we had that were hot were a shepherds pie and meat pie which were served in individual dishes so probably retained heat better. Dessert choice was limited particularly by the time we were served so we just had vanilla ice cream but had to ask for it be served plain otherwise a horrible red synthetic sauce and squirty cream was put on top. We really did not enjoy the food at all. I did try to speak to the Manageress about the service issues and quality of the food but found her manner aggressive and dismissive of any criticism. We are well aware of staffing problems in the industry but other hotels we have stayed in seem to manage this better.…
A nice , clean, tidy and pleasant Hotel, in a great location. Its just a stonesthrow from the beach, and close to a bus stop, for buses that travel all around the island. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, especially the dining team. Would certanly stay here again.
Recently returned from a 5 day coach trip, The Hotel as been refurbed to a very high standard. Bedrooms spacious, very clean and tastefully decorated. Food was 1st class, tasty and a good choice. The staff were friendly and polite. The owner did her best to make sure you had a wonderful stay and nothing too much trouble. Entertainment most nights. Good selection of drinks and prices. The Hotel is in a very good location for bus route, beach and shops. I would highly recommend The Burlington Hotel!!!! Thank you to All.
Exterior clean with fragrant hanging baskets, welcoming lady at reception set the standard of the entire hotel. Adequately equipped single bedroom, linen of superior quality and walk in shower always hot water available. Restaurant cuisine top notch, chefs display of food on my plate eye watering, tasty and delicious. Attentive service which was greatly appreciated. Bar lounge, outstanding features including chess board dance floor plus chess pieces enabling to pass time before bar service began, yet again service at the bar I was treated as an individual, brilliantly prepared team. The swimming pool was closed during my visit, fortunately didn’t detract from my enjoyment. Nightly varied entertainment in the bar with a break for the bingo aficionados and an out door seating area off the bar which was welcome as weather conditions were favourable. In conclusion, the best all round hotel I have been honoured to stay in, hopefully others will agree…
