Excellent location and value for money. No breakfast due to Covid but close to town so easy to walk and get something. Owners very helpful. Room was basic but clean and perfect for a base to explore the island
We asked to check-in early as we were attending a funeral, that was done without a fuss. The family room was beautiful & the beds were so comfortable. Plenty of tea/coffee/milk which was great. Breakfast was cooked to order, cereals were available. The staff were very nice & very helpful. We would definitely stay there again
Context, solo visit during walking holiday, from 28th until 31st of August. Situated a short walk from the seafront, high street and station, this B and B is friendly without being overwhelming - I'm not keen on having to make too much small talk at the breakfast table! Julie was very welcoming and made a point of supplying me with cereal, milk etc. for a breakfast in my own room as I would be leaving early one morning, which was hugely appreciated. The cooked breakfast (included in the price) is very tasty, and the choice of juice, cereal, fruit and croissants, as well as yoghurts is very good. Breakfast is from 8.30 to 9.30 as this is a small business (6 bedrooms). The room: I was in a single at the top of the house. There was no view, but quite frankly why do you want to stay in and look out the window when the beach is 5 minutes away? Everything was very clean, and the bed comfortable, with an optional extra cover in the wardrobe if things turned chilly. The decor was a little mismatched/worn, and the wardrobe, TV and en-suite tiny, but this didn't matter as the layout of the room and the overall cleanliness of the hallways/public spaces show that the owners have high standards of housekeeping and have got all the essentials right for people on short holidays. A nice touch was the extension lead under the bed for guests to use, and the mini fridges in the rooms. The selection of tea and coffee in the room was also really generous and refilled, a nice change from hotels that think one sachet of coffee and one of milk will do for an entire stay! There are cats, but they keep their distance and seem friendly: they certainly like to watch breakfast being eaten from their vantage point in the conservatory. Overall this is a small B and B that provides the basics really well, at very very reasonable prices. I would recommend for solo visitors who like a nice quiet location close to amenities, who want somewhere clean and warm after their day out on the island.…
I stayed here for the second time in July 2018 in a single room. I have recently read a negative review, but not all the points are validated in my opinion. The breakfast is fine, tasty and set me up for the day each time. The owners were very nice and helpful and gave me some good restaurant recommendations. My bed was comfortable, the only minor thing I would say is the floor in the en-suite was rather creaky, nothing major to worry about. I slept well each night and overall enjoyed my stay and would stay again. Although I didn't need them, it said there was a microwave and toaster in the room, which I didn't see through my visit, although the iron and hairdresser were both available. It is a lovely place to stay for solo travellers.
We booked a king room which should be a king bed with sea view but we were put in a twin room at the back of the house with NO sea view. There was a small double bed and a single bed which was higher than the small double. The landlords thought by putting the beds together that would be the solution!, the two beds were different heights and the only way to get in bed was to climb across from the end of the bed, totally unacceptable. They also state that there would be a microwave, alarm clock & iron but we had none of these and a seating area which was a tiny table and only had one chair. The bathroom had a huge sink in a tiny shower room not giving enough space to move around, you couldn’t use the toilet properly because of the sink. Only space for 2 cars to park. Wi-fi didn’t work. On checking out the landlady wouldn’t even come to talk to us to apologise for the lack of comfort and we could clearly hear her talking about us because we were not happy at not receiving what we booked for. Breakfast was ok. On there website it states there is a lounge but we wasn’t told about it and the door was always closed so it didn’t really feel very welcoming.…
When we booked this B&B we didn't know what to expect but we must say right from the start we where made to feel welcome Julie and Darren made us feel like part of the family the room was very clean and well maintained the breakfast was to die for the B&B is within walking distance from Sandown railway station and very close to the beach pier and bus service.
I stayed at this B&B when visiting my family and was struck by how clean it was. Julie, the owner was pleasant and helpful. There was plenty of choice for breakfast including an excellent full cooked. The shower was powerful and bed comfortable, couldn’t fault it
It's a traditional B&B. Nicely maintained and clean both bedroom and bathroom and house in general all tidy. Good cooked breakfast and Internet access without probs. Toiletries, fresh towels and iron. Few mins away from high street. Plenty positives. If you need a family room, you'll definitely be happy as ours was large and had details that new parents may need - baby bath, foldable crib, fridge and microwave to prepare milk. Lots of space as well. There is a small on site parking and, in case all spaces are taken, there are also some spaces on the street. Would I stay again? Nope. I guess we were a bit unlucky hence only 3 stars from us - the door handle fell off (thankfully owners were quick to fix it) and we were struggling with locking the doors. Then at 6 am the reception phone started ringing and as it was on maximum volume it woke up all residents. We were very tired when we went to bed and we woke up even more knackered after the morning phone incident. The most disappointing however was the fact that we booked the last room on booking.com which was a family one (we only needed a double). There were other B&Bs in the area with cheaper double rooms but as this one had a description of a sea view, I thought it would be worth paying extra. I attach the pictures from the window. Yes, it was a bit cloudy but nevertheless it is by no stretch of imagination a sea view room. It was misleading and we could have booked something else for less money. Overall, I think you will be happy in Whitecliff View but in our case it just didn't meet our needs or expectations we had. …
From entrance to Leaving this is a Top Rate B&B within easy access of the TC and beach.Lovely Friendly Hosts throughout.Help with Bags to the Room.Communal areas are very well upkept with all local Info.Room was a Single and Spotlessly clean.Fully stocked with towels, soaps and teas/coffees.Wi Fi worked fine.Bed was comfy.Bathroom was modern and worked and any towels used changed daily.Room was nicely decorated with a Fridge.Breakfast had an excellent selection of fruits, yoghurts, croissants, cereals and a hearty well cooked full breakfast. There is Parking.I stayed an extra day for my requirements.Hard to Fault and a lot better than more Expensive Places Locally.Great Service from the Hosts.I would stay again....
I booked this room last minute and to be honest did so because it was the cheapest I could find. I'd looked at the pictures and thought it looked 'ok and would do for the night.' ....... I have to say, the photos do not do this place justice! The rooms are large, warm, nicely decorated and clean. There is an abundance of tea, coffee, hot chocolate and MILK! A fridge in the room with a flat screen tv and cable. The shower was lovely and powerful and when I stated we would be leaving before breakfast the owner filled our fridge with yogurts, orange juice, milk and cereal so we could eat before we left. We arrived and left at very strange times and the owners were very accommodating. Although we did not have the cooked breakfast other family members did and they stated it was very very good. The property is less than a five minute walk to the pier and perfectly situated. I will without a doubt be staying at the whitecliff view again and highly recommend it …
