India's finest Wilderness Experience, Kanha Earth Lodge, is spread in 16 acres of natural forest, tucked away in a small hamlet bordering Kanha’s buffer zone. Its unique location, 30 minutes from the Khatia/Kisli park gate, ensures that it is close enough for easy access to the park, but still far enough from the glut of hotels lining Kanha’s tourist hub to offer guests a true wilderness experience. The 12 luxury bungalows with large open verandahs of this Wildife Resort in Kanha National Park have been inspired by Gond tribal architecture and offer environmentally sensitive, low-impact accommodation through their design and use of local stone and waste wood. While the absence of neighbouring lodges or highways creates an ideal setting for nature walks, birding and cycling trips through the surrounding forest.

Detailed Reviews
This beautiful chalet style lodge was very nicely set up. The dining room and main areas were large and spacious with large glass and wood doors to maintain the temperature and keep the mosquitos out. There was a room for viewing documentaries where you can eat delicious appetizers before dinner. There were also a few games to play. The dining room had two large rectangular tables but each group of guests were sitting at each end of the table for privacy.
The cottages were connected two by two. They were simple from the outside but the inside was beautiful and complete with all the amenities. The bedroom was divided from the main entrance and the bathroom area. The main entrance also had a table for coffee and tea. The bathroom area had three sections: a toilet room, two sinks, and shower room. There was room for luggage and closet spaces and a safe in the main part where the sinks were. The main item missing was a mini fridge. This was the only hotel we stayed in India that did not have a fridge. Considering how hot it was, I definitely felt it missing.
The food was outstanding. There was plenty at lunch and dinner and breakfast was served in the bush while on safari. They were always ready to feed us and give us drinks. The staff was polite and friendly but I felt an air of trying to be an upscale lodge. It lost the family feeling we had at the other lodge.
The safaris were good but I’ll review the park separately. The main problem with this lodge is that it’s tucked away so there’s 10 kilometers of bumpy dirt road to drive through to get in and out.

I have been long wainting to write this review for this property. This was one of the best experience I have ever had a chance to get. The property is amazingly well kept and maintained and their cleanliness and hygiene are impeccable. The staff is so attentive and warm they are always available to take care of everything. The best part was the hosts Sanjay and Harpreet. Their hospitality was great and they are very knowledgeable about Kanha. From the time of booking till the time of check-out the whole process was smooth and well managed. Their service is great. The food was delicious and it's money well spent when you visit here. This was my first visit here but they mafe me feel like family. Rooms are lovely designed and have rich decor and amenities. The amenities in the room are very useful and there's a different class of service you get here. They are a truly eco sensitive lodge and I saw absolutely no use of plastic anywhere, even their safari bottle or boxes had no plastic. I couldn't find a single thing that was not taken care of. Every department of theirs was well managed and well handled. I saw a lot of guests here who seemed to be regular and knew the staff, so I understand why people want to come back here. I'm definitely going to be a regular here hence forth too now. Thank you for the fantastic experience.

You arrive at Kanha Earth Lodge and are warmly welcomed by Harpreet, the manager, and also our driver for the safaris in Kanha National Park. The room is large with a terrace where you can quietly enjoy nature. People also ask about our wishes regarding the kitchen. The excellent chef personally comes to the table to ask our opinion about the dishes. There is WiFi in the room. The sanitary facilities are wonderful. The room is extremely pleasant to stay in. There is (French) coffee and tea with a kettle. The cookies are automatically replenished every day. There is a vegetable garden and a butterfly garden. One can follow the path from the lodge and take a stroll around the property. In short, very pleasant. You can easily stay there for 3 to 4 days without getting tired of it. Located a few kilometers from the Kanha National Park, it is an ideal base for spotting the tigers there. We do not regret for a moment that we got to know this lodge and the staff. Thanks Harpreet for the nice memories!

We stayed at Kanha Earth Lodge on a recent trip to India. The Lodge is delightful: the buildings and interior design are beautiful and in keeping with the surroundings, with a lovely swimming pool and gardens. We had a gorgeous room with a very comfortable bed, a great bathroom with a fabulous shower and we really appreciated all the products being environmentally friendly. We also had a lovely private verandah where we could sit and read in peace and quiet and this was much appreciated. The restaurant and relaxation areas are very good, the food was delicous and varied and the service outstanding. I particularly want to praise the service as my other half was unwell for a day during our visit (the illness was nothing to do with Kanha or indeed India) and the staff were so helpful and prepared to go the extra mile and this made a huge difference. We went on several jeep drives with a naturalist who worked for Pugdundee: these were amazing, we saw lots of incredible wildlife, including a breathtaking tiger sighting, and our naturalist Shawsham was very knowledgeable, a true expert and charming company. All in all, a marvellous stay and highly recommended.

If one is looking for a well rounded jungle experience with impeccable hospitality , pls think of Pugdundee lodges. Our first visit to Kanha earth lodge , and we were overwhelmed by the hospitality that they extended- well appointed rooms with heaters and sprawling sit outs , lip smacking food, and smiling staff who are dedicated to service , attending to every request ! I particularly liked the fact that they are off” single use plastic”, very much the need of the hour. Every effort is made to keep us comfortable during the chilly mornings in the forest and during meal times in the evenings... we are all foodies and we used to look forward and enjoy the delectable spread at every meal . We certainly want to explore all their lodges in central India ! A big kudos to the entire team at Kanha Earth Lodge . !

Can not praise Pugdundee safaris highly enough. We stayed in three of their properties. Each one was top class. As in every one, at Earth Lodge the staff were wonderful, the food amazing, our room perfect. They also have a highly admirable eco policy-no plastic and you are given a metal water bottle that you can fill up at stations across all their properties. Ingredients are either grown on site in their organic gardens or locally sourced. Just wish we could have stayed at each one longer to make full use of all the facilities and activities on offer. But of course we came to see tigers and we most certainly did.

We stayed at the Kanha Earth Lodge for a few days during a family vacation in Kanha National Park, and were occupying three rooms.
We were welcomed warmly and shown to our rooms, along with an explanation of the facilities available.
Mr Harpreet personally welcomed us, and gave us a warm welcome.
We were provided refillable water bottles, and were asked to not use any plastic.
We appreciate the efforts taken by the Resort to discourage any use of plastic.
The Rooms were very comfortable, and spacious.
We appreciate the hot water bottles provided to keep us warm.
The common areas which comprise of the dining hall, the library, and the seating areas, are also extremely comfortable.
The food served was also very nice, with the staff being extremely attentive to our needs.
We also enjoyed the outdoor areas as well, by relaxing by the pool, and sitting in the sun, while the children had a good time playing.
We also went for a River side picnic organised by the resort, which was very enjoyable.
The Safari organised by the resort was also nice.
We ended up extending our stay by a day, and did not regret our decision.

We visited the lodge in May 2024 for 2 nights, along with stops at Pench and Bandhavgarh. We had a full day safari planned in Kanha so we were very excited to visit the lodge.
I thought the lodge was very well maintained, had very nice cozy large sized rooms, with very good food, and safe parking. The lodge has its own butterfly garden that we visited once after a heavy lunch. They also have a lot of wilderness behind the rooms and we walked around there as well. Despite having few guests, the lodge was mostly peaceful - including during breakfast and other meals. So that was really good.
Lodge manager, Mr. Harpreet Singh, accompanied us to our full day safari. He is a very experienced person with safaris and knew exactly where animals would be found. He drove us around the forest for the whole day in peak summer with absolute enthusiasm. We were lucky to spot ~5 tigers and other animals, birds in the forest. They carried enough cold water and limbu paani for the full day safari so we could stay hydrated and could focus on the forest.
All in all, we really liked this lodge and would highly recommend staying there. During our next Kanha visit, we'll definitely stay here and insist Mr. Harpreet Singh to join us on the safari.

I think Earth Lodge is well managed resort in Jungle setup. I loved every bit of this place, except the approach to this resort is not for any sedans. Last 10kms to this place is nothing but Safari trail and in case you are sedan, you will have some real problem.
Now objectively,
Pros:
1. Very well maintained resort, every employee here is well trained and they know how to deal with customers
2. Bungalows are of decent size , nice sit out facing woods, 2 toilets and a separate wash and dressing area. All basic facilities like coffee maker, toiletries present and a nice open to
Sky bathing place too. It also has internet through dongle, to meet any basic need. Bedroom is equipped with a good sized bed, a small sofa with reading light and a study table too, but no TV (which is good IMHO). Everything spoke luxury.
3. Evening they run a small documentary or power point presentation about Kanha, good information, along with starters for dinner. Food was good. Prepared and presented well by Chef Pradeep Ojha. I felt he is passionate about his job and made good dinner , breakfast and lunch. I would say food was one of the highlights at this his place and deserts were simply amazing. Though the quantity of food served and spread is small, quality was good.
Cons:
1. Overall the stay was good and that’s why rated 5 stars. However, this place is 10kms away from place of happening in Kanha, like safaris. And the day we went, we could not get a guide too as there was huge pile up of jeeps already.
2. Last 10kms to resort is actually a safari track, don’t take your sedan to resort. I felt resort should provide pick up and drop for last 10kms with capable Jeep and resort should really mention this to customers and check how are they arriving.
For these two reasons I felt like giving 4 stars, but resort staff and overall experience made me give full.

As one approaches the lodge, one knows it’s going to be interesting…as one has to drive on kacha roads through picturesque tribal villages for some time before arriving. The lodge is located in the jungle corridor connecting Kanha with Pench, and as a result is surrounded by forest and a few villages.
The lodge itself is a grand stone structure and looks almost brand new, although it is over a decade old. The facade really brings out the wilderness vibe, and the arrival committee waving their hands in welcome is a great touch.
The lodge itself consists of a large living area, a media room for viewing wilderness documentaries, a big dining area and multiple outdoors areas where one can sit by a bonfire on a cold evening. There is also a large pool area where the lodge hosted a lovely birthday dinner for us (thanks for the special evening), and a flat open area for hosting large dinners. Overall there are many spaces available so that guests don’t feel squashed together. One minor issue is the the common bathroom area is a bit far, but that’s how it is.
The rooms are in separate cottages, and extremely spacious. The rooms at the end are a long walk, so be cognizant of that if having mobility issues.
The bedroom/living area has a ton of space, and my only gripe is the lack of more shelving for my camera equipment. The outdoor patio is also large and looks out into the forest. The bathroom shower area is fit for a Bond villain, and you must visit to see this itself. I couldn’t complain about anything here.
Food was amazing, and the kababs were some of the best to be had anywhere…we ate a lot of those. The meals were themed to some extent and the kitchen even made us Chinese food on request. We really enjoyed our meals here. Breakfast can get a bit repetitive, so some variety would be appreciated by guests staying for a few nights. The desserts were always mislabeled on the menu, but it provided us some anticipation on what surprise we would get. 😀
Staff are all brilliant from the barkeeper to the kitchen team…they helped with everything right away and I really thank them for the extra effort.
Safaris were well managed, and the naturalist Ashu came with us on every trip. We managed several great viewings, including tigers. My only pain point here is that the Khatia gate is a good 25 min drive, which makes for an early morning(4.30am wake up), and a tight afternoon turnaround between safaris, if doing 2 daily drives. The one day we stayed in the lodge during the afternoon was much more relaxed.
Overall, Harpreet and team are doing a fabulous job. I would recommend coming here.

Wifi is available, however it not the strongest given the forested area.
Yes they accept credit card for payments.
We were there in early March. It was cold but they will give blankets and hot water bottle. We dressed in layers and had to take stuff off by 9am or so. Definitely by breakfast most extra layers were off. Evenings got cool on the drive back so pack warm stuff after sunset.
There is no age restriction
Usually there were only four per jeep - or I think you can reserve it for just your own party. No overcrowding.
