Having seen the TV programme - The Hotel Inspector with Alex Polizzi we presume she never saw room 47. It makes me sad to have to write this review too. The staff are lovely and overworked and not enough of them. the room is substantially less than than we would expect for the price charged. Our whole experience was unfortunate we decided, therefore to not stay overnight. There was nobody at reception tonight the same as nobody there on our arrival so we deposited the key in the designated letter box and a member of staff in function room acknowledged our departure. We feel that the room designated to us is far from that advertised in website. Further to this we feel it is only fair to feed back out experience which seems to be shared by many others if not all attending the Ladies night that the staggered delivery off varied dishes was unacceptable. The staff were polite professional and apologetic and doubltess found the situation embarrassing and often apologizing during the evening. The chef despite talking to him on the morning could even be bothered to supply a gluten free pasta as discussed so main course was not as agreed - instead just a bowl of tasteless mushrooms! This venue could be so much better. …
We loved our stay, the surroundings were beautiful, the room was clean and we were made to feel so welcome, which made all the difference. I wish this hotel all the success they deserve, we would certainly return if we were to visit the area again.
I thought long and hard about the rating I wanted to give this hotel, because it's a hotel in transition, moving towards a better place but not quite there yet. It appeared on the Hotel Inspector the week we were there, and Alex didn't pull her punches about what needed to change. So some things are a LOT better. The exterior paintwork is fresh and clean, the decor in the dining room is relaxed and appealing. But there are many other things that must be better. I resisted the temptation to pull up weeds in the driveway, the pool is closed (but still advertised on this site), the shower and other important aspects of our bedroom needed sorting. What transformed the whole experience for us was the manager Charlotte who is a delight - genuinely warm and interested in all her guests; the chef who brought us breakfast each day was also friendly. Will the owners give them the support they need to make this hotel what it might be? Time will tell.…
Friendly, attentive staff, great value and well situated for visiting the island. All clean and comfortable and situated in a nice areas. Would recommend and will look to return when we next visit the island.
After watching the tv programme featuring this hotel, we trundled along late afternoon. What an experience! There was a wake in progress, and the bar was closed! We, mistakenly, assumed that the Hotel would expect an influx of customers - but no, not the case. The reception area was a mess - and there was no sign of a receptionist. Oh well - we tried!
I had a short stay in the Gracellie for 3 days and overall I am really happy. You can see this is a family run hotel which are getter rare. You can see that the hotel has had some recent maintenance which is nice to see but, must be a nightmare to keep on top of things. My room was extremely clean and I am really fussy. My bed was really soft and comfortable with fresh smelling sheets. I had contact with the family and they are lovely and this would be the main reason I would be going back when I stay on the IOW. Thank you for a really nice stay.
My mother, sister and I stayed here and thoroughly enjoyed everything about the Gracellie! The staff were more than accommodating; so much so that we spent time speaking with them and learning about their lives. I would highly recommend booking your stay here if you are planning on spending time on the Isle, you will not be disappointed! Our room boasted seaside views and was well appointed. Tell “Steve” the seagull that we said, “Hi!” Thanks for everything Charlotte, Laura, and Carl; we miss you already! 10 out of 10, will definitely be back, already telling friends about it!
Wow, what a fabulous meal with great views and service. Newly refurbished this is definitely worth a visit. Best Sunday Roast I've had for a long Time. Friendly staff made it even better. Will definitely return.
We stayed for 4 nights and had a wonderful stay! The room was bright, clean and fresh and the food was excellent. The staff were attentive and helpful and nothing was too much bother. It was really close to the beach and had lots of fun activities near by to suit us. It was great that they had a hotel bar too. We will definitely be coming to stay again!
Lovely lady who was doing the service and great with the kids. Food was poor. The mushroom tagliatelle that I had, the white sauce was undercooked and tasted of plain flour and it had curdled with the deep fat from the fried mushrooms. Ended up having to vacate to the balcony to get fresh air. Felt rubbish and bloated for the rest of the evening and felt like I needed to vomit. Chef needs to do better on this dish!
