We had 5 nights here as part of a coach tour. Hotel was excellent .spacious room ,with windows that open , walk in shower and spacious wardrobe ..on first floor so easy to walk down to bar. swimming pool and small terrace looking out to sea. Dining room worked well ,individual tables and service was excellent. We walked to the Chine and down to the sea front but took the lift back up . the lift closes at 6pm on the sea front. All staff were very helpful. Would say there are not shops local to hotel, and some steps up to reception
Just returned from a visit to the Isle of Wight, after a five night stay. The staff were very helpful on arrival and friendly, a cuppa was on offer and gratefully received after the journey, our luggage was taken to the room and left outside the door, after a talk by the management we went to the room it was very spacious and clean, with nice sea views, and it had an electric heater on the wall. There are several flites of steps up to reception, and also a ramped walk way. The restaurant was very good with a good choice of food, and the waiting on staff were excellent, a well stocked bar was open each night with entertainment. All in all a great hotel.
Lovely helpful staff, stayed in dinner bed and breakfast rate. Great pub type food, big portions served on nice hot plates. Very clean rooms not the most modern but can't fault the rooms. Indoor pool was great nice and warm. Entertainment on two nights during our weeks stay. My only recommendations to the owners would be to get rid of the red swirly carpet on the first floor as it's past its best and let's the hotel down. It's a steep walk down to the sea front so not ideal for people with mobility issues. Shanklin has a nice sea front much nicer than Sandown along the coast
Great hotel, very clean. Staff excellent especially Sarah on reception who is GREAT & always happy to help. Breakfast excellent, We will be going back. Cleaning staff deserve a mention as very polite. Jane & James are very cool. Super 3 day break, this ain't a generic review this is FACT!! WONDERFUL & 10 OUT OF 10. Adam & Kellie - Weymouth. xx
This hotel did not disappoint. It does what it says on the tin in that it has fabulous channel views! More than that it has super-friendly staff, is very clean, has a lovely pool and a top breakfast. We were a party of friends come from London to Shanklin for a birthday and were treated very well despite some complex room needs causing mayhem at reception. Thanks to everyone there, especially as they also provided March sunshine & sensational moon reflections!! A competitive price, great position, staff & breakfast…..5 star
Our check in experience was flawless, our request for early check in and late check out were accommodated with no problems. Rooms a little dated but spotlessly clean. Average choice for breakfast but was still tasty (hubby so fussy with bacon and sausages and he ate the lot!) All the staff were very friendly. My only crtisicm and it could just be personal preference but my husband and I found the bed very hard and uncomfortable. Didn't use the pool so I can't comment on that but all in all for the price we paid you we would advise this hotel to any traveller to to the Island.
Booked for the night with 3 friends. Shared one room. Excellent. Whole place is spotlessly clean with a fresh smell, even if some areas are dated. It looks as if the hotel is slowly being updated and it’s being very tastefully done. The small seating area overlooking the sea is beautiful with comfy chairs and a nice touch of binoculars! The dining area was just lovely, again with a fabulous view. There are outside areas to sit, again very comfortable and in the sunshine with the most amazing view. The staff, Jane, James, Jamie and our fabulous breakfast waiter, Taron add to what was a delightful experience. So much so we wish we’d have stayed another few nights! Apparently there’s regular live music, a nice little bar, beautiful pool and during the week, Happy Hour 😍 The location is perfect with a short walk to the town, station and bus stops and 2 minutes from the beach. Can’t wait to return!…
A very enjoyable 4 night break. Food was very good. The hotel was clean The staff were very helpful There was entertainment every night 2 of the of the entertainers were good, 2 mediocre. Very nice seafront location however it is on an incline Disabled or less active people may have difficulty retuning from the promenade. Sometimes the Hotel was a little short staffed but I am sure that will soon be rectified. The Acid Test. Would I go back?. Definitely. Well done Channel View.
When we arrived at the hotel we were greted by the manager and some of the staff which was very nice the staff were all very friendly and helpful nothing too much trouble, the rooms were ok maybe a little dated but very comfortable and the views from the hotel were great . The food was delicious and a wide choice too very good . Also there was entertainment every night . I would definitely recommend the Chanel View hotel if you want a nice break , also they had an indoor pool 👍I will definitely be going back
