We were staying in the Castle (see separate review) but had to move here due to works being done at the castle. A much bigger room (A03) than the castle with better shower and beds (no complaints about the castle tho'!). Twin beds were fine (think the mattresses were sprung not foam and therefore better) and more room for cat...

Stayed here as part of a course for 4 days in the Easter break, and it was one of the best course accommodations I have ever stayed in. It is usually a twin room, but the two beds were pushed together which meant that it was an absolutely massive bed (which was very comfortable) in a really big room. Had...

Just back from a weekend at this venue. we were there with a group of around 50 people for a social event. The location in the centre of Durham near the castle and the cathedral is excellent and it is very convenient for shops and restaurants etc. As I say, we were there with a group and the catering was...

I've stayed at Hatfield College twice, while at a conference in Durham university. I've been given the same room each time. A very large, comfortable room, with a huge bed, and basic facilities - tv, tea and coffee, hairdryer etc. I haven't needed anything else. Despite staying each time in very early January, the room is always warm and cosy...

This is basic student accommodation with simple and outdated furniture, shared bathrooms and no amenities in the rooms (e.g. TV or phone). However, it was cheap and the location is great - right next to the Cathedral. The city centre is minutes away on foot. The breakfast was fantastic - a big cooked British breakfast as well as a choice...

Basically a post-war student halls of residence opened up to the public outside term time. There may be some more characterful rooms in older parts of the college - I don't know if these are bookable or not - but the one I was in was a basic institutional room with bed, wardrobe, a threadbare chair and not much else....

Just spent a night with husband and two grandsons in Hatfield College, part of Durham University. The College is in the heart of ancient Durham, very close to the Castle and Cathedral - and has its own parking! The College is usually used for conferences in the summer vacation, but does a good trade in bed and breakfast in the...
