Stayed last minute for £69. At that price good value. Good, free parking, breakfast, friendly owner. Bad, noisy floorboards bulbs not replaced, bit of a tired look. Would stay again, but not at full price

Loved this cosy friendly hotel. Quiet spot with leafy garden and easy to get to station and walk to town. Best poached egg ever for breakfast and comfortable room with gracious decor and everything one would need for a lovely stay. Highly recommend.

shower falling to bits, damp in bathroom. Mould growing too. Staff member not helpful and beds not made. Breakfast poor. Creaky floor boards waking everyone up. Can hear guest in room above going to the toilet. Not a good nights sleep. Standard of cleanliness poor as well. Better go elsewhere.

I was booked in here whilst I attended a number of meetings in the area after other local accommodation was fully booked. The hotel is full of character and steeped in history. We had two rooms; a double for my husband and myself and a single for our son. Our double was lovely. Spacious and nicely appointed with a view out...

Arrived Friday evening at about 9pm which was described by the person who met us as "a late arrival" which was not a...

We were told that it was about a mile from the hotel to Durham castle but as it was raining we took a...

Friendly staff, nice food and very clean and tidy. Didn't use bar or have dinner as it was one night only but when visiting again we shall most definately...
