This hotel is one of the worse Travelodge we have stayed in. it was not particularly clean and the shower head was black! Because we were in an annex it was very impersonal and there was no way we could have contacted someone during our stay.

The room we ended up in was clean, spacious and cosy on a rainy cold night. The hotel is not particularly central but not too far to walk into town.
I’m giving it five stars but we had to ask to be moved from a soulless cold room and the corridor outside seemed to be a sort of storage area for some joinery work. Meanwhile the next door room was being used by electricians - tv blaring, door wide open etc.

Very friendly, welcoming staff. The location is very accessible and close short walk to the city centre. The rooms are big and comfortable. Free parking is available and there is a lot of spaces to park.

Spent 4 nights here as an Autumn break. For the price, you cannot fault Travelodge. Really warm welcome at reception; spacious room and a dog bowl and dog bed were waiting in the room for us, which was a lovely touch. It is an easy drive into the city from here, but there are also facilities within easy walking distance, e.g. dog friendly pubs, an Italian restaurant adjoining (didn't try it) and a Sainsbury local about 10 mins away on foot. We visited Durham, Hadrian's Wall, Beamish, Bishop Auckland, Barnard Castle, the Bowes Museum and Ushaw College (for the Pugin chapel) which were all easily accessible by car from this hotel.
Thank Adrian P

You can book online, but won't they ask for a photo id when you check in? Check with the hotel to be sure.

Hello Karen, yes we accept dogs and cats. The cost of this is £20 per pet, each stay. This can be paid for at the time of booking.
