Had food. Tasteless. To be fair reasonable service at the time, nothing more. Waiting for a taxi at the end of the night, mr.imtheman, wouldn't serve us because 'his shift has ended', while sat at the bar doing jaff all. Awful behaviour.

Why do restaurants insist on serving hot food on cold plates. Went for a Christmas special and the place was very busy. Nice welcome with a glass of bubbly and the venue itself is good. My Duck starter was vey tasty and the Turkey main might have been good if the veg had been anything other than cold. How they...

A hidden treasure on the Furness Peninsula. I highly recommend The Chetwynde for the lovely, period decor and great service - all the staff we spoke to were so cheerful, friendly and helpful I think we met 3 generations of the owner's family and they were all equally gifted at being both friendly and professional. The rooms are spotless and...

Nice hotel with a very warm welcome from all the staff. There are 2 parts to the hotel, the original building and a more modern annex. Both where well looked after and the room in the new bit was excellent.

Stayed two nights for work and it was a really lovely stay. Staff very friendly and hospitable. Rooms are big with comfy beds and everything you need (including biscuits which not all hotels provide anymore so top marks there!). Books on shelves in the hallway and daily newspapers downstairs. Food was delicious and reasonably priced. Try the salmon or curry....

Annex superior double: Lovely spacious room, good facilities, clean, comfortable, great sleep. We were staying when there was a wedding on, the restaurant was shut to other guests but we booked in to restaurant down the road and walked 10 mins to it. Breakfast served as normal could have been a slightly bigger full english but otherwise all good

Car park was full on arrival. Then went to room to find ten flies in the room after killing them we went out to see family. When we got back we found another four flies flying around in the room. We tried to close the curtain to find that because the window was shaped in a triangle the curtain did...

I can't speak highly enough of this little hotel/ B and B in Barrow-in-Furness. It was the perfect base for our visit. It was comfortable, quiet, elegant, under-stated, exquisitely furnished with good antiques, and extremely personal. Amelia, who was I think the manager while we were there, was genuine, lovely, and helpful. The food was beautiful - top quality local ingredients,...

We stayed here after another hotel badly let us down. Our party was made up of my husband and I, my mother-in-law and our 7-month old baby. We were going to a party and my mother-in-law had kindly offered to travel with us to look after our young baby nearby. We wanted a friendly and comfortable hotel where my husband's...
