The rooms are really dated and in need of some TLC... We had an office box file holding our window open as the sash window was broken. The telly didn't work although you could borrow DVD's from the selection on the windowsill on the way up the stairs. We didn't however as we couldn't turn the telly on. The bed...

Everything in our room was sticky, the bathroom was clean. The view from the window was of a brick wall. The bed also creaked a lot, breakfast was ok. Wouldn't recommend this. If the price of the room was around £25 for 2 that would represent the hotel a bit better not £45 a night.

Was really disappointed with our stay. We walked into a bar that was quite tired and dated a little bit grubby to be honest. The rooms were above and they were the same. For £90 I would of expected it to be better. The whole experience was disappointing. Dirty walls and holes covered up by the beds and smelling musty...

First impressions were not good, the pub is old but not in an Olde Worlde charm way, more old and tired. The girl behind the bar,who seemed to do everything, was very pleasant and helpful and was doing her best.We met the cleaning lady who was also doing a sterling job.Our room was pleasant with a distant lake view, but was in need of a...

We spent a weekend here in June and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The décor is a little tired but the rooms were spacious and clean. My only complaint were that the walls are very thin and we could hear another guest coughing his guts up regularly. The breakfasts were good and the staff very friendly. We were out most of the...

The first disappointment is the fact that although I gave a terrible view when I left the manager has not bothered to call or respond to my email! Room 3 - above the pub, in direct line for Saturdays 'wonderful' kareoke! Matress was awful and uncomfortable The pillows, more like pancakes that pillows, were even more uncomfortable (myself and my...

Good pub\b&b in a good location. The breakfast are very good and the people running The place are very friendly. The down side is the road noise if you have a room at the front Good beer and good atmosphere some things that you may not get at a Hotel. Don't expect four star room but this said its hospitality...

We stayed at this lovely pub last weekend. And yes, it's a pub! Some of the reviewers who've proffered an opinion about this place seem surprised that it serves beer, the rooms are above the bar and it can be lively on a weekend evening. What do they expect. If you like a convivial atmosphere, good local real ales, comfy...

This was the third time my husband and I have stayed at Ruskins. The location is ideal for the shops, restaurants and a nice walk to the lake. Had a fun time mingling downstairs with locals and other guests and the service was quick and friendly. We enjoy a buzz so didn't mind the lively atmosphere. Some reviews complain about...

As the title says, back again! My wife and I have stayed at Ruskins three times now as we love the 'Lakes' and the location and welcome of this pub/b&b has always been spot on. We came up on Friday afternoon and were booked in promptly. Had a cuppa and went for a walk down to the lake. By the...
