Another great weekend at The Pig. Never ceases to please! Fantastic room (room 17 over the courtyard), informal but attentive service, superb food. Starts to feel like a second home! They could do with more spa availability - we've booked our next trip in '17 and already the treatment slots are limited! Got to admire their success.....

..........you get the feeling they know they are onto a good thing in terms of the formula. On a plus service was friendly and attentive without becoming imposing. It was our third visit over the years and the setting has always been lovely. Food was okay and I thought expensive for what it was. Kidney starter was a little overcooked.... More

Went here on a girls weekend recently. Really looking forward to it but came away completely underwhelmed. Pork cheek was undercooked. Crispy kidneys were anything but crispy- actually raw. So disappointing.

We've just come back from a visit to The Pig at Brockenhurst. Have been wanting to visit for many years but have not had the opportunity until now. This was a birthday celebration and gift from my partner, for 3 nights with Dinner each evening and breakfast each morning. The house is really lovely when you are driving up the... More

We spent the weekend at The Pig and had a wonderful time. Having previously had a great lunch back in the summer, we were not disappointed by the quality of our visit. The staff were attentive and helpful and our supper on Saturday night was amazing - the quality and portion size was just right - only wish we had... More

Had long looked forward to a visit based on recommendations. Lovely welcome and beautiful surroundings with a choice of tables. Rather dark to read the menu, but managed! Staff were over attentive and we felt rather rushed about ordering. Main courses varied in terms of size and quality. Vegetarian option was excellent, steaks were fine although only served with small... More

Great setting on arrival. Good welcome & felt comfortable with plenty of informal seating areas for pre-dinner drinks / nibbles etc. Attentive service throughout although not particularly well co-ordinated. Team members seemed knowledgeable but nobody tried to explain the menu choices unless prompted. Food quality , presentation & taste was very good. Menu selection for meat & perhaps fish lovers... Lovely building, and the welcome was great! Starters and cocktails were above average but main course was disappointing and service was poor. Had to ask three times for teas and coffees ordered, and ended up waiting 45 minutes!! We're not quick to recommend, and feel disappointed, as previous visit was excellent.

Visited The Pig for dinner with my family. Loved the building decor and the feel of the place. Found it hard to find the path after parking the car as there were not really any lights in the car park. There was not any ashtrays outside when my partner went out for a cigarette though the area was stunning. We... More

Arrived well after check-in time to discover the room wasn't ready. Other guests were waiting around too. The reception blamed a problem with laundry deliveries. I insisted on going to the room just to unpack and sit down after a long journey and wait for the sheets to be changed. In fact the cleaners had only just finished the room... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Pig is a bang up to date take on a new style of home grown, 26 bedroom country house hotel and what that needs to be today - original, relaxed and sitting comfortably within its environment. It's really a restaurant with rooms. This is a place that is all about the walled garden and everything is driven by the gardener/forager and chef - they grow and find the food - the chef then makes the menu. The style is home grown in every way - breaking the mold of designed hotels, daring to be comfortable in its own skin, working with what it has and recognising what is good about that. It won't be perfect, it will be warm, relaxed, comfy, interesting, and homely with muted colours, a bit shabby chic and evolved rather than interior designed. ... more   less
