We recently spent a week at Forest Holidays Strathyre, staying in a Golden Oak Hideaway cabin, enjoying a spectacular view of the loch. The Golden Oak Hideaway is intended for couples and is filled with romantic touches including chocolate and marshmallow fondue, a bottle of Prosecco, Love Heart sweets, and Rolos. The cabin is well furnished with an open-plan kitchen,...

I have been visiting the Forestry Commission Log Cabins for the last 30 years, from when I was a kid, and to visit now with my own children is lovely. The new cabins run by Forest Holidays are far superior to the old ones and even the older style (replaced in c2001, are great and have been refreshed several times...

We drove up to the cabins from Yorkshire, a 5 1/2 hour drive so we're hugely disappointed not to be greeted by a smile or a welcome to forest holidays. We've been to Sherwood, Keldy and cropton and have always had a warm welcome in the past!! The staff looked like I was an inconvenience to them if I'm honest....

We booked Monday - Friday break with 2 kids (6 and 3). We paid for early check in which was worth it. We got our keys bang on 2pm, after lunch in the reception cafe. Lunch was lovely and the relaxed pace was a great start to our chilled holiday. We also ordered kids welcome packs which were £25 each...

We stayed here for a mon-fri break and we're the second couple to use the lodge ever. It was stunning. The scenery was amazing and we were in an amazing tranquil area of the grounds. We saw the elusive Pine Marten a few evenings of our visit which was a highlight for myself. The accommodation was outstanding- only one issue-...

Stayed in a Golden Oak with hot tub last week. Lodge was lovely, clean and peaceful. The hot tub just made our break. Nice and peaceful surroundings and the staff were very friendly. Pretty close to Callander and had a lovely boat trip on Loch Katrine on Sir Walter Scott, with beautiful scenery along the way

Some disappointing elements to our stay this time. The Hot Tub was cold the evening we arrived for a weekend break. Didn't worry too much as the e mailed instructions said that it may take time to warm up, but it stayed cold all night. Still cold on Sat morning. Informed staff at the Retreat when it opened at 9am,...

very good 1 bedroom lodge with plenty space with the added bonus of an outside hot tub. The raised decking over looks the loch with plenty of wild life going about. The onsite cafe / shop, whilst slightly more expensive the the local tesco, was very nice inside and the cooked meals were cooked to order. Plenty of local walks...

Quick check in and very clean cabin with great hot tub thats checked everyday. No problems with the cabin however the entertainment package said 125 films and only 20 were available. Apart from that the cabin and site was excellent. Everything you needed in the kitchen. Log burner great, however we took our only hardwood logs so they lasted longer....
