I had dinner here and it was wonderful. I was staying at The Crown down the road. Susan showed me one of the open rooms. Very nice. Service was great and dinner tasty. Come here to stay or eat. You can't go wrong. Good base camp for exploring the Trossachs. Steak frites was the dinner by the way. Soup was...

We booked late for a couple of nights. We got the last room available which we were told was a small double. That`s just what it was but very nice and quite adequate for our needs. The bed was on the firm side for us but that`s not a complaint as lots of people will like a firm bed. We...

We stayed at The Poppies on 18.10.14. The hotel is lovely and homely, run by a couple and you can tell that because it is a family business they have paid attention to every last detail. We enjoyed a few drinks at the bar within the hotel which has a great selection of local spirits and we were recommended drinks...

Room was OK, other people in our party had nicer rooms though. Breakfast was OK, although half a slice of black pudding is a bit of a joke, they should definitely be more generous when it comes to silly things like that, it stands out as being cheap to me. Bar area is very nice and staff were very good...

Just returned from a four night stay with friends at this amazing friendly hotel. The extremely friendly staff were so welcoming and chatty, the owners daughter Clare ran the bar very professionally, and the rest of the staff were perfect. Would not hesitate to recommend this hotel. The shower was noisy but did not spoil our lovely stay.

We were staying nearby Callander at the Forestholidays Cabins in Srathyre and this restaurant was recommended in their information folder. We called in on our way through to look at the menu and were greeted by the owner who was extremely pleasant and welcoming. There is an early bird menu which is exceptional value but as it was late afternoon,we...

We spent 6 days at Poppies and truly enjoyed our stay. This was our second time. The room was large as was the bathroom. Both the breakfasts and the evening meals were excellent and well presented. My wife and I would recommend Poppies when visiting Callandar, Scotland..

We stayed here for two nights in August. All the staff members we encountered were wonderful. Genuinely warm but unobtrusive. Attentive without being overbearing and an absolute credit to the hotel. I only have a minor gripe about our bathroom - the shower made an awful noise. We ate in the restaurant on one of the nights and the food...

We were disappointed in our stay at Poppies due to the fact that we had booked for 8 adults and 3 dogs only to be told on arrival that all three dogs would have to stay in one room on the ground floor. If it wasn't for the fact we had an email confirming 2 rooms were dog friendly my...

The hotel star ratings are very misleading, Poppies has a 3 star rating, because it does not have a night porter amongst other minor technicalities, when what really matters to guests is the warmth of welcome, a beautifully presented bedroom, a very good and immaculately clean en-suite bathroom and delicious locally sourced food, all of which Poppies has in abundance....
